THere was a thread here about the 'Evil Efren' which had many accounts of his other side coming out. It was quite shocking AND ABSOLUTELY TOUNGE-IN-CHEEK!. Try searching for "Efren" in all Forums
CreeDo said:I once saw a guy ask efren if he called it when he made a 2 rail bank in 8 ball. Efren picked up the entire table (it was an old 10-footer too), hit the guy in the face with it and knocked him out, then dragged him into his private jet which was parked outside, flew up about a mile, then threw him out somewhere over the pacific ocean.
You made him mad at Dante's old place in Carson.jay helfert said:Modest, humble and generous are three words that come to mind when trying to describe the Magician of Pool. Talented, friendly and inspirational are three more. Aren't we lucky to have him around. I'm sorry he didn't get over here until age 32. We may have missed his prime.

I didn't. I saw him ran out 7 racks in a row playing Rotation when he was 19 yrs. old!![]()
Jay, from what I know, if you unscrew your cue, it means you're conceding the match.
I could be wrong though...
jay helfert said:Yes and no. There were over 1,000 people in the ballroom. It would have erupted if the match had been called. I dont know what I would have done if Sigel hadn't missed the 9. I was in big trouble. I got a good roll there. And so did Effie.
CaptainHook said:Some of my pool buddies study him on video. I notice he reaches his arm around the back of his neck sometimes, maybe the tags on the shirts bother him.
We all want to play like him. For the summer we moved a table into an old building with no Air conditioning, just a couple fans. Slow nap cloth, dirty set of old pool balls to try and recreate the conditions he grew up with.
We call it the Manila Gorilla Filipino Slip stroke training academy. The temps are just starting to come into the 90's here and in a few weeks will be well into the 100's with high humidity.
I will try and remember to take the camera and post some pics.![]()
PoolBum said:Jay, I've got the Accu-Stats tape of the Peter Vitalie tournament but it doesn't really show what happened that caused the controversy. Could you explain what the ruckus was about? Why were you in big trouble--did you call the foul on Efren?
Efren is a very good buddhist.olauzon said:i've read somewhere that efren is a buddist, which isn't a religion but a lifestyle, where you train your mind to be honestly modest and humble in all situations until it simply no longer needs attention. i would imagine it is enormously beneficial. too bad it doesn't work as good for a physical movement, like a full length 89* cut

He drinks Rhum.
He eats duck egg embryo.
Eats fried fish and tamarind seed pork soup.

olauzon said:he must be the very enlightened kind. i'd skip the bird embryos myself but guessing fish embryos are no better..
