APA Warning!!!!!

is the apa clique-ish? very much so, if you are not in the "in Crowd" the LO can really disrupt your team by manipulating handicaps, booting team members from the league, allowing opposing players handicaps to remain low, etc.
mike

Great statment. The league operator in my town was such a nitty weak player he bought the league just so him and his wife couldnt play. They thought they could get a few people to kiss their a$$ because they could manipulate their handicaps. Some people really like the drama behind the scenes. If I had $10 for everytime heard someone say " im calling St. Louis " which is where the headquaters is I guess, I could go to Vegas stay at the Wyn and still have money left over to go see a UFC fight.

The vast majority of pool players are duffers and that is how those leagues survive.

People also like having an excuse to fall back on such as losing to a lower ranked player means they were obviously cheaters or sandbaggers. In the APA, the only way to get ahead is to not play at your full potential until it is absolutely necessary. Remember the old saying about the shoe on the other foot, when your winning its all fun and games and then the minute the tables are turned its not so fun.

Not sure who told you that LO cant play in the league, because they can. The guy who owns orlando plays on a couple of teams. He is a 6.

Mr. Wilson for anyone that wants to know!!!!!

I'll stand for this poster. If your playing out of laurel then that is lee tiani not terry, so you need to back up and say your sorry!!! What he said about terry's master league is true, we had a play-off, and a qualifier.

The LO here said that. Could have just been a lot of talk to make people think that, who knows.

He only said Balto. and Fred. not MD. If your going to bash a LO get the story straight. The poster was correct. You should know who your playing for.

Apa

I to have a few horror stories i wont bother to share but I play in masters and i am leaving for vegas tom. We have a playoff in our masters div. amongst the 4 teams with the most points and the winner goes to vegas, not who has the most points at the end. How do most of u guys masters leauge work.

This is the initial post that has begun the bashing of the APA and Terry and I just had a few points to make:

I think there have been two Terry's being bashed. Someone bashed Terry Justice who is a LO and someone else was bashing what sounded more like Terry Bell who is one of the founds of APA.

I joined the APA mid season when asked by a friend to play Masters. We play all the matches and are way out in the lead! Then the APA takes 2 weeks worth of points (42) from my squad and sends another team!

Get this, the reason stated for the 42-point removal! The members last year had a $40 to $50 remaining balance! Absolutely, nothing to do with this year’s team! So, I asked, “What does that have to do with me a brand new team member replacing someone that left????”

Get this, the members that remained from last year never knew about the short-age and once notified paid in full!!!!!

The league has all the members phone numbers and never called!
The league has all the members email addresses and never emailed!
The league has all the members’ addresses and never sent a bill!
The league has reps at the room every week that never spoke to the team!
The league allowed the team to add a new member despite missing funds!
The league allowed the team to play week after week paying its weekly dues!

The only notification made by their admission was a small note amongst 50 pages of advertisements in the weekly envelopes! Something very easily missed, if you play league you only pull out the score sheet most weeks!!!

The point is that the league operators were told about the problem and admit the above failures but have not reinstated the points and corrected the situation. Because this is Masters level you do not have a playoff! The top points leader goes, that’s why its such a huge penalty and one I might add that penalizes a new returning member that was not involved.

Sincerely,
Kid

Just another reason why it is the worst league in pool. It is too bad the clients they have do not understand it.

I wouldnt say its the worst. All leagues have their advantages and disadvantages. Around here I will never pay the BCA another dime just because of the way the LO runs it. Any where there is a handicap system in place you will have people trying to manipulate it

I think the team is responsible for dues and while it would have been nice for the LO to call the team he fulfilled his obligation by putting a notice in the envelope.

Having said that unless the LO just breezed into town on a donkey (no slander intended to donkey's) you would think after a week or so he would call the local representative.

I don't play APA because one most players won't practice to get better (being a 2 or 3 makes them happy) and two the place we play regional is 1 1/2 hours away so the first thing that happens is everyone's SL is raised and you're faced with ineligible players or the roster gets screwed.

Meanwhile the other teams all know each other and their 3's are running racks but all that's said "We know Joe he's just having a good day believe me he usually doesn't do that well".

Wow this is really getting ugly for no reason. Dynomite, I spoke to you, no actually listened to you last night. You were upset about what had occured, and I agreed with you that it was unfair to you as a player that things with the team and points issue went the way that they did. However with that being said you never allowed me to explain the entire situation to you.

When I came in you were in your match which I didn't want to interupt out of respect to you and your opponent. After your match was finished both you and your captain approached the Sr. Division Rep and discussed the matter with him, which I was not apart of, I can only assume that you guy's were not please with what he told you.

I will say this again, you did absolutely nothing wrong, you joined the team, you showed up every week as a player should, you played your heart out, and you won most if not all of your matches. Your team is probally the most talented, and most powerful team in the building, hands down. But that was not where the problem lies, the issue was not something that you had any control over, nor did I, however if the matter of the financials were taken care of by someone simply reading the envelope, or even calling the office if they didn't understand what was going on all of this whole situation could have been avoided. There was a discrepancy with our money and we lost point until it got resolved, in our case it only took a week because I reacted to the same notes that were left on my envelope, No one approached me about anything until points had been taken which was only done as a last resort.

You being new to your team it wasn't your fault, it is un-fair to you, but it wasn't the leagues fault either.

The reason that we didn't have playoffs is because we only had a 5 team division. So as a result the first and second place team get to go.

I hope that you accept this explanation and allow this to die away, let me appologize to the people in Terry's Region, for it being mentioned this isn't your issue.

To the rest of you posters who have used this as one more reason to not like the APA, go get a life. I have no financial stake in any of this, my only reward is being able to get together with people whom I consider friends and play pool.

And, again Dynomite I think your a nice person and a great player, it was an unfortunate situation that you have found yourself in.

Take Care Black Cat, I hope we'll get the chance to play again soon, under better circumstances. :(

I would just like to know, what was the time frame?

How long were these notes placed in the envelop without any response? I agree the captain, or whoever was managing the envelope, should have been proactive with the team in getting the issue resolved. But as a BCA league operator, I would have tried to make a phone call or speak in person with the captain as soon as these "notes" were left but not dealt with. Perhaps a conversation was in order before the points were taken. If there's no funny business going on, wouldn't you want the team that won on the table to advance to Vegas. Not because of some B.S. technicality dealing with the money.
