I would like to apologize for anyone who is upset with my book and the lack of pictures etc.

Also the cuetable diagrams i inserted, had to be reduced in size to fit, so became hard to read whats on the diagrams. I had trouble inserting the pictures as i done it all myself, and finished the book whilst i was sleeping in my car. I wanted the book finishing so i could get a roof over my head.

So once again i apologize to anyone who was upset by this.

I will try and get my dvd done and i will then be quitting coaching and pool, i have given it 3 years trying to get established and have reached my breaking point.

Take care everyone and thanks for knowing you all. Good luck in the future

Should be a CAD Operator on here willing to help

Lee,

I don't have the software and am almost twenty years out of practice now but a CAD Operator on here might be willing to fix the diagrams just for a book and to help out the pool world. Yes they would be doing you a huge favor but it isn't unheard of. I used AutoCAD as a technical illustrator back in the early '90's and sometimes cranked out over a dozen diagrams in a day depending on how simple they were. It wouldn't take an operator long just to work from your original images as sketches.

If you would like to you might PM me letting me know what software you used to make the original drawings and what format they are in now. I might be able to fix the images for you myself if nobody else steps forward. I'd be more than glad to if I can, no charge.

Perhaps the best solution is to send all earlier customers an e-book and market it as an e-book in the future, then people can manipulate the images themselves to see better.

About your book...

Billiards Digest would like to review it. Either PM me, or just send a copy to us at 122 South Michigan Avenue, #1506, Chicago 60602. Thanks, and happy holidays. GF

Lee, chill out a bit. Number one lots of people have had to sleep in their cars or in other equally uncomfortable situations in their lives - me included. It's part of the journey.

Number two self-publishing is a pain in the ass especially for a first-timer.

Number three - this is the digital age, make it a PDF and sell that. There are plenty of online places where you can put up your book for sale in digital form. if someone wants a hard copy let them print it themselves or print the pages they want.

Number four - it's all about the hustle. You have to emulate what you see the other instructors here doing. Look at Scott Lee, Gene, and others. They are constantly fishing for business, sometimes by giving away a free taste, free phone lessons for Gene, free meet and greet for Scott etc....

You apparently are the real deal as a coach. If the pros trust their game to you then that's a pretty strong statement. So now you must figure out the business angle.

Go to Las Vegas and use the TAR studio. Mark offered it up to anyone who wants to make a video. I don't know the details but didn't you say that this something you already have in the works?

Why not a weekly video podcast where you field questions and demonstrate the answers? Maybe TAR would be ok with that, maybe someone wants to sponsor it to put a little cheddar in your pocket and TAR's pocket??

You have already figured out that this business is tough, that the billiard industry is broke. You are already at bottom and living in your car. So the silver lining is that you can only go up from here. While the industry is broke and broken the people who actually PLAY pool are not. Those people mostly have jobs, decent ones, and many of them are pretty well off. So these are YOUR customers. Go get them. You have a pool cue, knoweldge and transportation. They have MONEY, access to a pool table and a shitty game that needs fixing.

And make the damn book into an E-book and I will send you payment for it.

Also, it would be nice if you included a list of LINKS to each of the diagrams in the e-book.

Keep your chin-up and your elbow as well. ;-)

But if you are determined to quit then here is a podcast for you to listen to about the economic benefit to quitting......

Just want to clarify that Mark offering it up means its available for rent. All I need is a line of people at the door demanding that they want their time because Griffin said it was ok on a podcast.

That said I concur with everything in your post. More than one way to skin a cat.

I liked your book Lee, I am sure that you are an excellent coach as well.
And remember: A winner never quits, a quitter never wins.

You were kind enough to send me an autographed copy of your book and I enjoyed the read. I've purchased just about everyone's book and dvd and
I've learned something from all of them. One thing is I'm 62 years old, I've been playing for 11 years and I'm only going to get so good but I love the game and enjoy the people I play with and that's what matters to me.
I wish you success and hope you never quit. You are a great talent and if you're ever in Charlotte, N.C. pm me, I would certainly pay for a lesson or just have a pint with you.
Regards,
Bob Baker

The three most important words in the English language are 'hold your nerve'.

The four most important are 'stop being a girl'.

Keep up the good work Lee!

Great book, recommend it to everyone.

I purchased your book and really enjoyed it. I have been reading mostly ebooks for a couple of years now. I love my Kindle and iPad! If you release an ebook I will buy that too and have both. Please don't give up. You have lots of good information to share!!! I highly recommend your book.

My unsolicited advice would be to get a job and instead of quitting pool, supplement your income from you job with giving lessons and other pool related activities. The job will provide you with a stable income while you stay involved in the pool world.

Good luck.

I know times are tough. I've been out of work for awhile, I can only say that I hope you can continue your journey in pool. I do hope to order your book when I find work. Your from Liverpool, So I know your a tough bloke. I dont know if you watch football at all, but as Shankly said
"Whoever said Football is a matter of Life and Death, I can Assure you, It much more serious than that!!" Get stuck in, Cheers!!

About the pictures & diagrams... it was for this reason alone that I chose to go the 8.5 x 11 format for my book "The GREAT Break Shot". I do AutoCad, so I made a template of the Pool Table, done my layouts, & Voila!, the drawings were readable.

Lee,
No apologies are necessary. We all appreciate you busting your butt to get your book out before Christmas.

I will add to what others have already said. Your book contains enormous amounts of EXCELLENT material guaranteed to improve one's game.

If anyone hasn't ordered Coach Lee Brett's book you should do so now.

It'll help your game and maybe encourage Lee to continue the journey.

I like what John said about the hustle. We're all hustling. The whole world is hustling. That's what it takes to get by in this world and it's always been that way. If you want to change out the word hustling for working, have at it. Working means doing whatever it takes to achieve your business goal. No one is going to give you anything. You'll have to earn your way into American pool's storybook and you've got a good start with this book.

Stay the course!

I have no doubt that Lee Brett has a wealth of knowledge regarding pool instruction. I probably bought one of the first available copies and unfortunately I too was dissapointed. It just didn't provide what was initially advertised, and it wasn't a 30 dollar book in any stretch of the imagination. The book just seemed incomplete and very unpolished.

Lee- learn from your mistakes. Your obviously good at what you do-nobody would question your credentials. If the book had been 12.95, I don't think you would hear the complaints as much-but when you charge 30 bucks it needs to be as advertised and polished.

I'll probably be one of the first to buy your DVD. I truly think you have alot to offer. I just don't think it was reflected in your book.

Lee,
I enjoyed your book. I thought you covered things that I had not seen focused on before. I would appreciate a photo if you have them, of the v-grip from both sides. It feels awkward, and I wondered if I might be doing it incorrectly. I hope things look better for you soon!

Lee, after reading your book I have no doubt of your abilities as a coach. I look forward to your dvd and more about the V grip.

Best,
Mike

Hey Lee, nice clean and great information here. I could see very well the diagrams, but I have glasses :) Don't quit, you just need to start making some money.

Lee, I have a very nice AutoCad pool table modeled after my Gold Crown 9' and I would be glad to send you a copy of the dwg (autoCad file) which you could get any cad operator to easily make you drawings. PM me if you are interested in getting a copy of the table.

Are you intending on attending the Derby in January I might be interested in some of your time down there to add to my game.

Good luck
