It seems like rowdy crowd behavior is more accepted in the UK than in the US (not that US fans are paragons of virtue or anything close).
US fans get rowdy at football and basketball games, but nothing like the Soccer Hooligans.
I've also noticed a lot of fans with cups of beer at the MC. It's a natural law that the more beer consumed, the rowdier the crowd.

does the pool room mentality really surprise you? I don't care for what was said but it has become accepted on this forum as norm
Callind Daz's lady a asian mail ordered bride is not acceptable anywhere at anytime. Even though this place has its share of window lickers doesn't make it ok to say such things.

I wrote this two days ago in response to another thread. I'll just repeat it here since it seems to fit the context.
"Thirty years ago I attended a 'friendship' billiard match in Germany between Germany and Austria. In the first round, two young Austrian brothers (the Horvaths) played two Germans at balkline. The level of play was stupendous. The Austrians won both matches. During the break, I was in the restroom washing my hands. An elderly German gentleman at the next washstand said to me, 'Those were great matches, weren't they?' I agreed that they had been and said that it was a shame that neither of the home team players had been able to win his match. The other gentleman said to me, 'Oh come on! We don't want to become a soccer crowd.'
"If the Mosconi Cup is what it takes to make pool popular, my prayer is that pool remain a boutique, niche sport that you can watch being broadcast only on the WEB for four hundred viewers by billiard-crazy but tech-savvy entrepreneurs. One afternoon in the quiet, knowledgeable atmosphere of the Cue Sporst International U. S. Open One Pocket Championship in Las Vegas is worth a thousand hours of The Mosconi Cup. The 'practise' room at the DCC has more dignity at four o'clock in the AM than York Hall has with the cameras running. Get out your dictionary of British English and look up YOB and ASBO.

Not that long ago, AZB was awash with controversy, and there were many, many, many people who declared "they're just words".....
Interesting how this is viewed differently.
Personally, I am super impressed with JA, not only with how he handled this, but in most everything. (Beyond how the ABP thing has been handled.). It's a damn shame that people had to target his wife, and that he had to stop his match to attend to it.
