How about this: DAZN let me cancel my annual subscription, with 10 months to go, for a $20 fee. Check the other thread on the end of DAZN for more details.

So, today I got a "thank you for your subscription payment" notice from matchroom.live. Matchroom.live no longer exists. I didn't see any charge to PayPal -- the usual payment source -- but they have charged my credit card. I assume that was a backup source.

Not a good start.

I was charged the usual $4.99 on 3 January by Matchroom. I set up a WNT TV account with the same email address & it shows I’m subscribed to 3 February when presumably I’ll be charged the new rate of $10.

I checked my account info. I have two WNT subscriptions. My old subscription was at $2/month. I guess I shouldn't have said anything.

Most of the top Asian players will be there, including a big group of Pinoy and the best From Vietnam.

But some notable omissions. Two of the Ko brothers, but not apparently Ko Pin Yi. Biado is not there either, looks like. No Oi or any top Chinese players.

Most notables are Chua, Capito, Yapp, Duong, Roda.

Way I figure, $100 a year to support pro pool and pro players is not much. Happy to do it. Now I can actually see whatever I want on replay at my own convenience.

Similarly, I just bought a subscription to the print Billiards Digest to support the only real pool publication. For $32 a year, I get to help Panazzo keep doing what he's been doing.

Cheap hobby, if you ask me. Except for the table, and the cues, and the accessories, and the pool hall time ... !!!!🎱

Currently, when you select the Live feed:

You get this:

Obviously the event is not actually live at the moment. A little sloppy on their part.

It is difficult to find all of the on-demand videos for a particular event, the archive lists them all, you can't find the Billiards 99 and then drill down to find all available recordings for it.

The quality of the recordings seem good.

When using an iOS device, the standard selector to send to a TV via airplay is present. One of the VOD I selected wouldn't cast to my TV, the other would, so I will have to delay any opinion on that.

There is no link anywhere to find brackets or live scoring (not on wntlivescores.com). I found it elsewhere, by going directly to digitalpool.com.

Once the live tournament starts back I will report back.

Is WNTTV going to be the pool streaming platofrm for all Matchroom Live events now? USOpen, Mosconi? If so, yes, I will sub.

I wonder what will happened for satellite events like the DCC, PA Open, Battle of the Bull, etc. They have their own streaming and own fee structure. I'm guessing those events won't be on WNTTV.

Yep, all will probably do their own thing, with their own streamers.

Those independent events won't attach themselves to WNTTV unless the pecuniary value is there. Hard to see, unless WNTTV adds pay-per-view options for them.

Time will tell, but I rarely pay for pool events outside of Matchroom. A full pass for the Derby costs, what, $79? Almost the full cost of a MR subscription for a year.

In any case, Billiards Digest has an article this month with one of the top people at WNT.TV. Head of digital content Jake Asby.

A few excerpts:

"The aim of the site is to eventually become a one-stop shop for all streaming content."

"Third party promoters running regional events will have the opportunity to stream on the platform as well."

"Growing viewership in the US is critical. For us, the U.S. has always been a priority." (Alludes to all the complaints and frustrations about DAZN).

***
Other salient points:

WNTTV is an offshoot of the success of the PDCTV, the Matchroom channel for pro darts, Asby says.

"What we have seen with PDCTV is that it attracted tons of people and has strengthened their business. We didn't have that strength (to create WNTTV) when were doing a few events a year."

I'd note, however, that PDCTV does not have an app either and it's been around for about five years. Evidently it's not as robust as WNTTV, with little or no on-demand viewing.

WNTTV will have a multview option to watch two or more tables at once.

Youtube will still have MR content, Asby says. but all live streaming will shift to WNTTV.

Visited the site this morning, hoping to catch some of the CPBA 99, presented with this live event:

Click watch and you get a blank screen, same as yesterday. So far the live streaming gets 0 out of 2 for me. I'm not sure if this even is really still streaming, but they should bring down the link and the "live" icon if it isn't really live.

New site, all right. Lots of kinks.

FF and RW buttons are tiny and terribly placed. Skip is 20 seconds. Should be 10, like YouTube. That's how to speed watch matches - 20 seconds is too long when there's a 30-second shot clock in effect.

Going to complaint to support so they know we are watching! (-:
