I have been here for three days training. This man is a national treasure when it comes to pool instruction...My game is at least one to two balls better already.

I agree, Stan is a great guy, and an excellent instructor.. However, he cannot perform MIRACLES !..I am glad that you have improved two balls, John..But how could you not improve, considering where you started ?...This means Lou could probably
only give you about 9 to 4, for the cash now..Careful Lou, he's headed for CJ next !.. Oh wait, that will cost him the two balls he picked up from Stan ! (we should be fine) :o

Stan is a fantastic individual and sure does know the game. I've been blessed to have spent a day under his pool guidance as well. Tell him Joey K. says hello!

Again, if Lou could really do that he would have left Derby City with a pocket full, in stead of wagging his tail out the door.

Two balls better that is tough me to buy. Stan is tops but man that is a HUGE difference.

I played at a poolhall where he played Frank Sinatra all the time, I now appreciate Frankie a little more.

Stan is a national treasure. Enjoy and learn my friend.

I will attest to this same situation. I went to Stan and came back, within two weeks I was about 2 balls better. The problem was maintaining it. Stan can give you the tools, correct the mechanics, and give you a program to follow. It is still up to the individual to put in the practice and maintain. That level of play for me lasted about 1.5 months before my practice faltered and I went back to my previous level.

I still have his training program at home and feel I could be right back there if I put in 10 hours a week for a month, but I will never do that.

Another Barton fan, who would not bet two St. Bernards, could whip a Chihuaua !...We got 'em confused now Lou.. Smart move not playing at the Derby, where the rail, (side bettors, for the uninitiated) would have gobbled up all Barton's cash ;)

Does Stan have a 9ft and 10ft table at his house? Seems like a 10ft would not be the best to teach most players on. Since, most people compete on the 9ft tables.

9 footer !!

Not only does he tell he shows. What Andi and I have witnessed these past days has been nothing short of incredible.

My game is at least one to two balls better already.

Right now I am practicing some of what I have learned on the immaculate ten footer. This is Stan's sanctuary and I am listening to Roseanne Cash on some of the best equipment built.

This has been a great journey to the big match and it's experiences like this that are worth much more than money. Stan loves pool and it is a joy to be around him. Stan is giving my road partner Andi a lesson in the training room with another perfect Diamond in it.

Sorry not a good reason or comeback.

Where is this house? It takes a lot of space to fit a 9 and 10 footer. Would be nice to have that much space

westcoast...Stan lives in KY, not too far from Louisville. I believe that he built an addition on to the house, for the extra table. I'm sure I'll get to see it. I'll be there myself, in a little more than a week!

John,
You're doing ALL of the right things preparing for this match.

I'm impressed!

John, as many times as you said "I got 1 or 2 balls better", you should match up with Shane, not Lou. After all there is only so many ball in the game.. Johnnyt

Could be a possibility at some point down the road. This game is a lifetime of fascination and improvement. As the saying goes there is always a heaven above the heaven.

Gotta get through Lou first then think about who's next. Dean Campbell had a great suggestion - maybe each year have a Who Wants to Beat Barton challenge for 10k or more. This has been a lot of fun so far and probably the best time I have had in pool in my life.

Quit posting about training John, your screwing up the odds I'm getting. No jelly roll for you!

Stan is a great instructor - I had the pleasure of meeting his son Landon and his lovely wife Connie while I was there as well.

Good investment in anyone's game IMO.

Enjoy the ride JB.

Scott as much as you are on the road I'm surprised it has taken you this long to get down there. However, it is good to hear that you are on your way. With this weather be extra careful on the road.
