ATTENTION "WILD WEST" - Roland West, Houston, TX...

Another ebay scam artist

I too contacted the Houston police after I uncovered an ebay scam by a guy named Rogelio Solis. At the time he was advertising new Meucci cues on Ebay way below dealer cost. Ebay would boot him time after time, but I found out he had over 50 some separate accounts open. He was literally opening dozens of new accounts daily each under a different screen name. In every case, the buyer would never receive the cue after they sent him the money. I would place a bid, then request seller contact info. Every time it was the same guy Solis, but always posted a phoney telephone # to his account. I finally had his post office box in Houston traced where he was receiving the money. He got snagged and arrested for it, but made bail and never showed for his trial after his arraignment. Still at large!!! I wonder if it's the same guy???

this ebay seller aka roland/wild west tried to scam me with his southwest auction last month.
he agreed a trade with me and asked me to send cue and money over to him but the cue was already sold locally. i was lucky enough to uncover tat it was a scam.

Road trip

I don't know how far you are from Houston but, If I were you and I had a good address I might want to spend a little bit to get my $2400 back.

Ross...I am so sorry to hear that what should have been a pleasant transaction, has turned all kinds of sour for you. I am suspecting that you have already submitted your police report to PayPal, and hopefully that will bear fruit with regards to the PayPal funds that should be covered under their Buyer Protection. I would definitely be asking your CC company to dispute the other funds related to that end of the purchase.

It is getting incredibly difficult to know who can and cannot be trusted on eBay anymore...especially when there are no safe guards against multiple accounts by these scam artists. Their just like cockroaches...persistent little ba$tards.

I will keep my fingers crossed for you that it all works out. I know that you will not lay down on this one, that's for sure!!

Lisa ====> thinking Roland needs to watch his back 'cuz Ross is a pitbull!!!

I agree with you completely, in fact I think it is the thing to do for principle alone. Many of the $hit bags who have started doing these things on the forum need a wake-up call. I think we need to start a AZ Billiards watch committee, kinda like a neighborhood watch. This would have to be done outside the Forum community and not affiliated with this forum in any way.

With all the members who post / buy and sell on this forum we should be able to band together and have members in every state who would be willing to participate in a community watch program. The program would work like this:

If a member is taken advantage of a watch member from the state where the dishonest member lives would take a little time and pay this individual a visit. Now, I am not advocating any violence, only a visit with the intent of helping that person do the right thing, and to help this person understand the error of doing such things on this forum. I truly believe that this more than anything else would certainly help or at least make some of these people think before they act in a dishonest manner.

If anyone is interested in helping to form a group like I have outlined above please send me a Pm, and I will start compiling a private list of members. I would be glad to help any members who has these problems in Western Washington state.

I am very serious about my comments in this thread, and I think it would help solve some of our problems.

Take Care

It is a very nice cue but for the money I would rather have this Runde instead ... But then that is me...

http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=114264

I would never do this in a thread where a cue was up for sale ... But this Runde really reminds me of the White only the Runde is a little fancier ... Wish I had a extra 2 grand laying around ...lol...

I certainly hope you do get this worked out I know Wild West has had this kind of trouble on here before so I wish you the best of luck....

Do you honestly think I give a shit about what cue you think is nicer? Not to be an ass, but do I down all of your Sly posts - when you have them in possession?? Think, dude...

The problem with vigilante justice Craig - even the "non-violent" kind is that it can quickly and painfully backfire unless you are prepared to go the distance.

What we need are the kinds of laws that put people in prison for a LONG time for wire fraud, which is what failing to deliver goods purchased through the internet is.

However, the problem is defining "intent to defraud". You see if the seller can prove that he intended to honor the sale and deliver but for extenuating circumstances then it's merely a "civil" matter and not a criminal one.

The funny thing is that if you walk into Wal Mart and walk out with a $2400 television you are arrested for theft. If you steal $2400 from a fellow citizen through a fraudulent transaction it's not "theft" in the eyes of the law until you, the purchaser can prove intent to defraud.

It so sucks! I am owed about 10-15 large from people in this industry that I have zero to no chance to recover the money from. :-(

I thought I've made this clear, but it was an ebay auction that I won where Mr. Roland (Wild West) was posing as his girlfriend....

This is the auction that was won - once I had to pay (which I did shortly after auction end), I received the full name of the seller... It took a few hours to dawn on me that the name sounded familiar, so I did a search here and realized who it really was....
I always request an invoice after I win an auction, it gives their name and address. Maybe it would have helped you out here too.

That's kink of an apples to oranges comparison. However with the documented evidence against this guy you can safely say he was intending to defraud.

I agree! If I had two grand, I want to bypass a White for an ugly ass cue with rounded inlays!!!

King,
Wrong place for a comment like this. That cue, much like your input in the thread, just plain sucks.

I agree this is a VERY bad situation and I hope 1pRoscoe gets his money back and justice served....I, on the other hand, do not agree with just gathering a BAND of Brothers and going to this persons home and confronting them..even in non violence...UNLESS when you do this, the local authorities are with you..I feel that would be the safest way to handle a situation like that...I would definately hate to hear that someone got shot or stabbed trying to ask the scumbag as nicely as possible to do the right thing.. That would turn a very bad situation into something much much worse.. The people that personally know this slimeball does need to step up and try to do whats right....I hope this works out though

John, all my comments above are about nothing else except being prepared to go the distance. That is why it would have to be a volunteer group, of like minded people. As far vigilante justice, sometimes you are left with nothing else do to the laws or the enforcement of them. In my opinion any action is better than no action at all, and I am clearly aware that this may not rectify every situation. However, it also should not be necessary to handle things in a hostile manner either, it will have to be a case by case situation.

You know what Sir Issac Newton said, for action there is a opposite and equal reaction along the same lines!!!!!!!!

I understand your sentiment and your feelings. Just please be careful because it would be tragic if someone got hurt over this. And furthermore these days it's the lowlifes who prey on people who often can turn it around and get the victim arrested and charged when the victim stands up for themselves outside of the law.

I am all for some kind of Guido-style justice in a lot of cases. I guarantee you that if someone lived in true mortal fear of being visited by someone who was ruthless then they wouldn't dare cheat other people. But the fact is that our society is meek and rewards the liars and cheaters, hailing them as great "businessmen" while the honest people get further screwed. (that all came from "somewhere" else)

Just be careful.
