AZ USER NAMES ... How did you get yours and does it have history for you or meaning??

Luxury is one of my favorite unknown bands. I would post an album cover but I'm typing from an iPhone.

I do however go great lengths to be as comfortable as I can.

I'm no secret to those that know me. I've had this handle for almost 50 years. I didn't even know that my nickname was Frank the Barber for a couple years until someone happened to address me by that name.

I shortened it here because that's the way it is on my license plate in California. You can only have so many spaces on the plate, thus "dabarbr". I've had a number of people PM me to ask if it was me.

To me a nickname is valued more if someone else puts it on you. I've known many of other pool players named the barber, Mike, Sam, Nick, etc and I've always said to them lets get on the table and see who's the real barber.

Thanks Superstar I kind of figured someone would post something along those lines the first one started back in 2006... I figured certainly AZ has grown since then... But then maybe not ... Oh well it was worth a try ... Maybe we should all just stick to the bash Kevin Varney or Eddie Wheat threads ... Or hey do you know another cue maker that maybe we can start picking on and put out of business ... ;)

I have to send you some REP for that "funny". There's a lot of truth in it.

I'm sure Superstar who's been around quite some time didn't mean any harm about his referrals.

For some of the old timers on AZB, seeing people ask the same information when it was previously discussed must get old from time to time.

For the most part, I like a RE-FRESHED thread. New people come on board all of the time and aren't familiar with the methods for searching information in the forums. Also, the new people always have fresh perspectives and I enjoy hearing them.

Anyway, I want to know how you got the name THE KING. :D Nevermind, no need. Thanks

JoeyA comes from playing in local tournaments. I have an unusual last name and it is difficult for most tournament directors to pronounce it correctly (as well as practically anyone else for that matter) so I usually just say I'm "JoeyA".

Don't want to see any more cue makers catch hell. :D :D

JoeyA

Here on AZBilliards I am using my name, but on other forums I am using RugRat.

I prefer to use my real name, and wish everyone did the same.

For the avatar: I change my avatar now and then, but right now it is a picture of Jasmin. Jasmin Ouschan is one of my heroes, and I am happy to have her as a friend.
I love to watch her play pool, and I have told her that I am in love with her stroke. It's the most beautiful stroke in pool, and I want to get a stroke just like that...

great question

I was living in Orange county Ca, in 1994. The Aol thing had just sorta started and most everyone was using a kinda absurd name.

So I picked "Toenibbler" for no reason at all....just to be different, that was the thing to do. Around the end of 95 my son and his buddy, who were both high school seniors, went on under my name and got me barred FOR LIFE.....
LOL

When I moved back to N.Y. in 1996, I joined again under my wifes name...LOL and tried Toenibbler, but someone had taken it. So after thinking real hard for about 15 seconds I came up with "TIKKLER"

I have kept it ever since and use it everywhere....I do get questions all the time...especially when its business related. What does it mean

NOT A DARN THING....it just popped into my mind

did I put anyone to sleep

I am a single father with sole custody of my daughter Asia.

When she was around 5-6, her friends would address the
parents as: Sammies-mom, Elisas-gramma, etc.

So this is how I became asiasdad

I then joined the AZB club to support
this site and that is how I became

asiasdad

;)

Hello Joey A I'm sure that Superstar did not mean any harm either it is just these days on AZ you don't know rather to say Hello or defend yourself ...;) ... Anyway I read through both of those threads and thank you Super star for posting the links ...

As for how I got my name the King I posted it above in the long winded post ...

"Bantay1" was the name of my dog who died at the ripe old age of 18, she was my best friend and I miss her dearly. I've been using this name ever since in loving memory.

My buddy, Brian Barrett passed away and the room owners and myself started a memorial tournament. Somebody said I should post it on this website called azbilliards which at the time I had never seen.

As a kid growing up in Florida in the 50's, and 60's, and watch those great Cowboy shows, like Hopalong, Cisco & Poncho (Cisco Kid), Roy Rogers, Sky King, Lawman, Maverick, Wanted Dead or Alive, Have Gun Will Travel, etc. I wanted to grow up , and be a Cowboy.

Plus Cocobolo is my favorite wood. Thus CocoboloCowboy.

My real name is James. When I joined the Air Force in 86 and showed up to my first duty assignment in Alaska, Jack Baker, A big burley biker type, picked me up at the airport. On the way to the base he asked me what my name was. I said James. He didn't like that. He asked me what my middle name was. I said Vincent. He said "OK, Your name is Vinnie". It stuck ever since.

guess I am a new guy

Not really, but rarely am I over in this forum. So I have missed the prior threads. Once a week or so. I am however, ALWAYS looking at the pictures :D

I've been called Doc since 67-68 when I was a medic. A friend of mine in California, used to refer to me, and a bunch of folks I was with most days, as just a bunch of Rascals.

Politest thing we were called at that time ....

The Dark Side................................

I'm borrowing my cat's name. (Darth) is a five year old black Bombay cat that I found in a vacant lot when he was just days old. His eyes weren't open when he came into my life. I bottle fed him and he has become a great addition to my family. My avatar is my best friend in the universe. He is a 12 year old male Pembroke Welsh Corgi named Cyber. I've had Cyber since he was 3 months old. Cyber, as you can see in my avatar is confined to a K-9 wheelchair for the rest of his days. He was stricken with a degenerative disk disease soon after his 11th birthday. I'm doing everything in my power to make him as comfortable as possible as he has given me all his devotion every waking minute. Cyber, until last year, has ridden everywhere on the back seat of my Honda Goldwing motorcycle. The day I got him from the breeder, I fashioned a pair of childrens sunglasses with a cord to protect his eyes, strapped him in a harness and off we went. After he got 'sick' I couldn't bear riding without him so I sold the bike. The tag from the bike that bears his name 'CYBERS' is now attached to the rear of his cart. Sorry for ranting but he is worth every word.

I chose Maldito because it was the name of a race horse I made my biggest score on - and it means accursed one , and it suits me well - And by the way I like that name Maldito and if people called me that in real life I would not mind at all. -

I'll chime in. I'm 24 now but when I was about 16 or so and I was shooting pretty damn sporty I would runout a lot. My favorite movie is The Hustler which was made in 1961. So there it is.......runout1961. I've been using that name online ever since.

John

Mike and I played D&D in highschool; my character's name was BrandyWine. Also the CB name he picked for me.... said something about a song he heard that reminded him of me.

I liked the pic of my avatar I found online somewhere. I don't mind change and think that one day there will be a "space pool". Cool picture...

This tread got me thinking about high school... I started another thread entitled... For the Love of Pool forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=113276

Stumbled across this cyber pool room in 05. Seemed like folks had cool names,ie: OLD HAS BEEN, RUDE DOD, RACKMSUCKER, VAGABOND, SMORGASSBOARD, to name just a few. An old pout by the name of Larry had a bunch of names, some were cool and some not so much. After an agonizing 30 second decision making process i settled on "ridboner" for a handle.

If i had it to do over again i'd just use "adam"
