Back in Manila again

This term is derogatory toward Filipina women (and other Asian women in general). I ask that you refrain from using it again.

How come every thread concerning a trip to the Philippines always seem to regress to such inappropriate discussions on Filipinas?

And I'm disappointed that the Filipino posters of this forum are egging on such behavior.

Filipina women are more than mere sex objects. They are our mothers, aunties, sisters, cousins, and daughters.

Nice Post, REP to you

Nice Post, I too was a little disappointed in the overall tenor of this thread. Rep to you.

I was going to PM, but I'm sure others have the same question.

With all due sincerity, what does LBFM mean?

Carol and I stayed at the same hotel in November. Had a real nice suite at the Orchid Garden for around $70 a night right across from the Harrison Shopping center. Is there a carpet burn on the rug shapped like an iron in the bedroom? If so you got the same room we had :D There is a great night spot close by to take your girl for drinks and dancing at Remedios Circle. It is only a 5 minute taxi ride. The Intramuros is also great for a daytime horse and buggy tour with lots of great historic stuff. Have a great time Jay !!!

I can taste that ice-cold San Magoo right now. Too bad the young Navy guys now won't ever know the paradise called the P.I. The first time we pulled in there in '68 a lot of the streets in Olongapo were not paved, and security guys with all sorts of weapons patrolled the main drag. And the music in the bars! You heard every type of music. The bar I hung in a guy played Eric Clapton's solo from " crossroad" note for note. And those L.B.F.M's..man oh man. Memories.
And how about those F.S.P.s..........................F**king Sexist Pigs.

My apologies to the pinoy ladies..absolutely no disrespect intended. But I would be interested in knowing if any Filipinos out there resented anything else in my post.
The philipines were one of the highlights of my life.

Just flew in yesterday from Hong Kong. And I already have a permanent smile on my face. Why not, everyone smiles and say hello to you. Pretty girls everywhere with a ready smile for you too. Even the armed security guards love talking with an American. Somehow, some way, Americans are still loved and respected over here.

And our dollar still has big buying power here. I am in a very nice private hotel, staying in a suite for about $70 a night. Breakfast for two included. Not to mention the love for pool that pervades the entire culture. Tell someone that you know Efren and Busti and you have their complete attention. I love going into poolrooms full of serious players with a real respect for the game. And an appreciation for any knowledge you share with them. I taught Efren a tricky little One Pocket shot once and he likes to show that shot to the locals now. Yes, I REALLY DID! Okay okay, now I'm bragging.

And did I mention all the pretty and very friendly girls. Now I love to look and talk to them, but my heart belongs to my little Michaela. I will SO happy to see her again.

I just feel so good in this faraway land. I feel at home here, after my fifth visit in less than three years. And they speak English too, another big plus. I only wish I would have discovered it a little sooner. Efren and others invited me many years ago, and I was always too busy. My bad!

Jay, if you got plenty of time, take trip with your significant other and see the other islands outside of Manila. Puerto Galera in Mindoro, Anilao in Batangas, Cebu City, Miniloc and Lagen Island in Palawan. They are great getaways from the traffic and people congestion of Manila. And yes, there will be pool tables and action there too as well as more eye candies. You'll have a better feel, enjoyment and impression of the islands. Be safe and have fun!

I'm a scuba diver and the underwater life there is amazing. BTW, English is spoken in almost everyplace you go to. Much more perhaps than Tagalog. BTW, the Sagada Rice Terraces in Northern Luzon is another place that is a must see. That place could both be enchanting and romantic at the same time. You can catch a plane from Manila Domestic Airport to Baguio then a car or jeep ride to Sagada. The journey itself is ala Indiana Jones. It's a fav place for many foreign and local tourists. ;)

How could anyone in their right mind think it is appropriate to use the term LBFM when describing the women of a specific culture. Hard to believe anyone could be this ignorant:eek:

I grew up in a military family and I was offended by the use of the term in your post and can only imagine how a woman of this culture might feel about your post. We are all guilty of making these types of mistakes at times the real test is how well you handle the deserved criticism and whether you learn from your obvious error.

Take Care

I find this very dissapointing myself, especially the part of Filipinos egging such behavior.... LBFM is one of the worst thing I hear about Filipinas, and it shows lack of respect for a whole country and it's people. I can't understand how Filipinos on this forum can accept posts like this, and even contribute the way some of them do.

I have been to the Philippines twice, and I fell in love with the country and the people already after my first days there. The people are so friendly, everyone smiles and shares a good laughter with you. I am soon on my way for my third trip in less than 15 months. It's definitely become my second home, and I am dreaming of the possibility to make it my first home.

However, the poverty is shocking for a young guy like me, living in one of the richest countries in the world, Norway. Unfortunately this poverty makes people/force people (often young girls) to do things they would never have done if their situation was different. If they had the oppurtunities for good education, a decent meal every day, a nice room with a comfortable bed, good jobs and a decent salary there wouldn't be so many foreigners who proudly could talk and bragg about those LBFM's. If their situation would be a little different they wouldn't need "the company" of elderly foreigners to get a decent meal, a comfortable bed and maybe some new clothes...

I have experienced a women (mother or grandmother) who tried to give/sell (I don't know) her two very young girls to me (max 14 years old), when I was walking in daylight from my hotel to One Side. I had to turn around immidiately because I felt so bad. Imagine the life these people are living, who even consider doing things like this. The worst part is that those little girls will probably grow up to be "LBFM's", who some foreigners will bragg about in the future...

I am getting sick of threads like this.

"Your man in Manila" was the thread Jay Helfert started during the World Championship in 2007, and this thread was POOL RELATED with updates about happenings at the venue and at One Side, and that thread was the mainreason I decided to visit Philippines the first time. (thanks jay, I owe you a lot)

Threads about Manila/Philippines lately always seem to be dominated by posts about young smiling girls who loves foreigners, and pictures of sexy girls...

I wish Jay would start a new Manila-thread, and that we all could help keep that thread (and future threads) pool-related...

This is my fiance Carol. The picture was taken in our suite at the Orchid Garden hotel. Does the room look familiar Jay:) Tonight I have to call the US Embassy in Manila to schedule her appointments for her K1 Visa. Hopefully she will be here by August.

Snaps to you!

This thread is sad.................

Can you imagine as a parent, having to pawn off your 14 year old as a prostitute to earn money???

I have a young daughter and I can tell you that I would kill myself first......

Start another thread Jay. I would love to hear a day by day!

LBFM is totally uncool for this forum. A lot of filipinas are super sweet, conservative, catholic girls who don't deserve this kind of label at all.

I worked with a girl from Olongapo who said sailors were making sexual comments to her when she was only 11 or 12 when she lived in the PI. Nicest girl you'd ever meet. Sorry clowns like that are a disgrace to the country.

ok class can we just let jay tell his stories and please proper language from everyone responding hear! incase jack back there has something silly to say and we know he usually does we will just ignore him okay!?!

I wasn't in the city. I stayed on Lantau Island in the fishing village of Mui Wo. A total kickback place. I'm headed out on the 13th. Sorry my man.

I too live out of the city in an area called Sai Kung. Mountains on my back and the sea in my front. Both about 5mins walk away. Kickback place as well. Waiting for your stories.

Any pinoys wanna help me out with something? I am looking to bring wifey, and go to the World 10 Ball championships in September. It is located at PICC. Anyone know what a good, modestly priced hotel is in that area?

Looking for $50 a night or below, preferably Queen or King bed. Looking to stay the entire time of the Championships. If it is equidistant to main money rooms in Manila... Bonus! Would definitely not mind sweating some action.. Or even getting in some action, if I can sucker some nice Filipino into spotting me the mortal nuts. :D :D :D
