Back to Manila

They play cue ball fouls only. And they have a ref/racker working every money match. He gets a small commission from the winner of the match (5-10%). The ref will actually mark a ball or balls that are close to the cue ball in case they get moved during the shot. That way he knows where to restore the ball.

The filipino refs are only the best in the world! First of all, they're all players so they know the game. And they are dedicated referees who don't miss a thing.

Sounds like a great time! Thanks Jay!

The hard part is the loonnng plane flight both ways. Half the time I get sick afterwards. Over 400 people on the plane, every seat full and people coughing and sneezing. Not a good combination. It's best to take some Airborne pre boarding and even wear a mask. I wish I had done it this time. I have been sick the last three days. Just starting to feel better today.

I got some very good news today. Bunny and Jalo had another meeting yesterday with the examiner at the U.S. Embassy. Jalo's application for a U.S. Passport has been approved! Hallelujah!! She will receive her passport on June 22. Jalo will officially be a U.S. citizen. All my travels and efforts appear to have been rewarded. I'm a happy man today. Thank you all for your support!

That is great news Jay.....I am not only happy for you, but Jalo as well. From what I read from your travels, The Philippines seem to be a great place, with alot of great people, but Jalo will have more opportunities available to her in the USA.
You are a good man, Jay Helfert
Peace

You're right about Jalo and well, I guess you're right about Jay too. ;)

I'm going to attempt to post some photos of Jalo here. No luck, they all exceeded the forum limit of 100KB. If someone can help me with this I will e-mail them to you. Thanks

My favorite pic is number 2. Shes a little sweet heart.
Jay, yer probably a sweet heart too but I don't want you to get a big man crush on me.
I can see it now, Philippine ladies champ coming up in about 16 years.

just one question...

for the record, i am not the best with "older folks", but i'm great with kids; they love me and i love them - so i beg the question; when is that little dumpling gonna be here in vegas???? you can work the tournament and me and olya can be another grandpa and grandma; no notice required

and, good job on the citizenship!!

as i told mentioned to you, the paper work and details can be unrelenting, but once done, things if lucky can go smooth as silk

best,
smokey

That's a beautiful thing Jay. It'll prove to be among the best moves of your life.

I like Jalo 4 photo above. Looks like she is listening to Poppa Jay's instruction on banking. :D:D

You know the funny thing Joey. YOU'RE RIGHT! Almost. She was watching me work on the new cue I bought that week, cleaning the shaft and shaping the tip. She probably wondered, "what is my dumb dad doing?"

With my first two kids, I had no desire to teach them pool. In fact, I kept them out of my poolroom. With this one, I feel different. She will have a cue in her hands from an early age. Watch out Rubelin Amit!
