Beating a player on drugs...

I don't see why no one has tried to actually prove or disprove that one can play better while under the influence.

Someone that owns a table should set up a camera at their house, and record the following while sober.

1. Dr. Dave's BU Exam.
2. A race to 9 vs the 9 Ball Ghost.

Then over the course of x days, do the same thing but under the influence of a different drug each day. Start with alcohol. Beer the first night. Then liquor. Then both.

After alcohol, move on to marijuana and other drugs.

We'd probably need quite a few participants to get a bigger sample size.

Reminds me of the WKRP episode where they had the DJs drink and do tests of their reflexes to show how they slowed. Johnny's got better!

Would you try to three-foul a bath salt zombie?

I took some Provigils a couple different times about 5 years ago and played some 20+ hour sessions and got all the cash including one time where no one from my pool room bet a penny on me. What I can say is I was very disappointed in myself. End of story

the fact is they dont play better on drugs. what happens is they act stronger, play faster , and shoot harder. makes it look like they are playing better but in fact not.

the good advice to play slower works. or wait them out.

So I'm looking for some serious feedback (save the smart ass remarks for yourself). It's not to hard to see the players who disappear during a tournament, ring game or gambling who come back pumped up, focused and firing in balls with a vengeance. Here lately I've noticed that they are so amped up, they need alcohol to level out the anxiety/ restlessness or whatever they are experiencing. Someone out there surely has figured out a way to combat these players who I think have the advantage over players who aren't on drugs.

Hide their stash:D

Goodness. You folks who dont believe chemicals often bring a higher gear have blinders on.

How many stories are there out there about a hopped up player beating everyone for dayss, while fats or some double smart guy waits for the crash to gets the cash?

But it isnt a light switch, sometimes the substance does not work out. Perhaps you failed to realize what 'getting the mix right' means?

Sweet! So your saying, if I just act, play real fast, and shoot really hard, I'm gonna play lights out?? Helll yeah
Now if you will teach me the ramshot, I'll be pretty much unbeatable!!!!!!

When I say players don't play better on drugs, I'm speaking from first hand knowledge. However, that knowledge is v limited.

Of the many drugs I never have done I've seen ppl play me or others on, and they lose.

We have an A player who hits a lot of local tourneys, been banned from some for his high level of play.

He's a pot smoker. I hear him one day talking about how much better he's been playing, talking it up. The other guy asked him what he attributes his better play to?

Without hesitation he says, I quit smoking.

If ppl can play better on drugs, I've never seen it and not a clue which drug that would be. Every drug I know impairs something.

You apparently dont know what you are talking about... ;) Once you encounter an opponent who plays "chemically enhanced" you will have "fun" :D I played two such guys this year and it is always insane ride. FYI one of those guys played quite recently at World Cup of Pool and played very well. ;) Funny thing is that this guy is totally hopeless at Eurotour and European championships where antidoping tests are in effect...go figure..:thumbup:

I don't see how smoking pot would make you play better, but I've seen the hard stuff work
wonders on people. Imagine if you already play pretty good, and then had all of the confidence in the world and none of the fear. Think you'd play better?

I have heard the 'balls on rails to the pockets' claim too.

Pretty powerful, to shoot with 100% certainty/ confidance every time...irrespective of induction method.

Well one former USA #1 smoked every match he could-even in the WPC. I for sure wouldn't play better I'd probably shoot the 6b instead of the 4 and might even use an object ball for a CB- which i have done and also saw a straight as hell A+ shooter do in a match.

Id imagine a session with the weed prior to play might have equal chance of making player realize how dumb it is to whack balls into holes, as it would make him play betrer.

Don't have a table but will come to anyone's house that has one to be
a participant. I'm a light sleeper, so if you work try to be quite when
getting ready to leave. I'm kind of a picky eater so I will be kind enough
to send a list of things I like. But not to worry, as the test gets in too
the final stages with really good stuff my food intake should drop off
dramatically. You would be well advised to have a pen and paper
handy toward the end, as I've been known to say some very interesting
and profound things at times like that.

Boy I agree 100%. If pool is a professional sport , why are these drug enhanced players allowed on the table. I know a few Hall of Famers that should NOT have been inducted ...its a disgrace to the game. Play pure...then lets see your game. I had as sponsor and they sure wouldn't tolerate it.
