*SIGH*

Not when pool players are labeled as fools.

I may stand in the minority, but I will defend a professional pool player's choice in life until the day I die. I believe it is their right to choose whatever pursuit in life they wish. To demean them is a whole lot worse than the "nit-calling."

Do you speak for all Americans? Thank God, you don't.

i dont speak for anyone,It dosent make sence to speak for peope-its impossible, the statment is my opinion. some may agree some may not. its up to the individual what they want to believe, i myself believe that America has been good for me to make $$ etc. But it isnt the best place in the world or the worst, its just ok.

What i find amusing is the least informed people have the strongest views and dont have any frames of referance or experiences, education to assert such sreadfast statments when they dont know the whole score,

I dont know the whole score, so I assert the neurtal statment above.

Why are you getting you're panties in a bunch over something I wrote 12 years ago that has nothing to do with you or Keith? I believed that the story was applicable to the conversation, quite appropriate, and representative of the attitudes of many people within the game of pool. I wrote that piece in response to my disgust at the actions of Camel Pro Tour Series. It was not directed at you or anybody you could probably name. It was definitely not directed at Keith, who is a player I have admired for years. I will say it again, it was written 12 years ago, and it has been posted in other forums. I did not demean anybody. I was just calling it like I saw it. If you want to continue to paint me as an enemy of pool players everywhere, be my guest. I will continue to allow my actions to speak louder than your posts.

No one ever labeled pool players as fools, Jennie. I read the whole thread. Blackjack's story was posted as a point that there are two paths to take - it wasn't meant in a literal sense.

I mean, if he hypothetically called pool players 'fools' --- he's calling himself, and everyone who posts here an idiot. I'm confident that wasn't his intention.

I also don't think anyone is attacking a professional pool player's choice in life... i.e. living on the "road," fighting to make a buck, playing world-beaters just to pay for a meal and hotel room. Everyone is lying here if they haven't:

A) Wanted to go on the road (either as a player, stake horse, or ride-along) sometime in their life.

B) Went on the road for a period of time

C) Went on the road, and will do it again in the future

I think the moral of the story is, if you fit into category B or C - we all envy you. However, at the same time, don't report back about how life is so tough--- because everyone knows there's an alternative of "PLAN B:"

*** Getting a full time job and clocking in for a pay check. Nowhere near as glamorous, but the odds of the paycheck arriving on Friday is a "lock."

I hope this makes sense. No one is calling pool players fools when they're not complaining. I in no way am referring to you or Keith specifically - I'm only saying this in the most general way.

Regards,
Dave

i spent about 5 of the last 12 months out of america, i can live where i want when i want for the most part sometimes i have to be here, and i like america, its ok now and then. my businesses are here and since i know the rules here, i'm not going to start a business elsewhere when i'm in good action here-that dosent make sence right now. i pay my taxes here-more each year than most peope earn in a life time so i pay my dues but there are better places for certain things and of cours there are worse places too, but to say america is the greatest place ever is too narrow for me.

you defend their right to choose, which is fine, I'm all for anyone choosing what they want to do too. But, you defend it and then ***** and moan about the payouts and terrible conditions for pool players. You constantly contradict yourself. If a pool player is upset about the conditions of being a pro and cant make ends meet then he should either A) do something to improve those conditions B) stop complaining about the conditions and accept his/her chosen profession for what it is or C) get off his/her respective ass and get another profession.
You're arguments are always one sided, and that is to be expected given you are involved with a pool player, but surely you can see other people's take on it. Anyone with average intelligence should be able to see both point of views. I am good at internet poker and have made a ton of money off it, but unfortunately it doesn't let me live in the lifestyle that I want and isn't guaranteed, therefore I choose to do something else for a living and steady income. The fact that someone is a "Professional Pool Player" doesn't mean that they are owed something or are better than average Joe that works at Mcdonalds because he needs the money to live on.

living in one country is too narrow too, idealy i would like to live in about 5 or 6 places and follow the nice weather, i cant stand living in one place, i have lived in 2 different states since 93.

Exactly right! You hit the nail on the heat with that one!

If there is anything at all wrong with America, it's the ignorant American yellow-tail warblers chirping out anti-American slogans. I wish they'd flap their wings and emigrate elsewhere, off this continent. Freedom doesn't come for free. God bless America.

Maybe you're a little late in the thread. I stated it previously, and I will state it agian. I NEVER MENTION KEITH'S NAME in reference to your piece.

What about the 1st amendment? I guess that's anti-American.

If you're going to love your country, do it unconditionally. Otherwise, you're just another pot calling kettles..................

I will agree with your view on this. I think that anyone who doesn't support America's ideals and lives under our blanket of freedom should go back to where they came. I cannot stand all of the illegal immigrants and the freedoms they are provided without actually having to do something for that freedom. At least learn to speak English and stop sending American dollars earned illegally and with stupid government subsidies back to other countries.

Who made you the one to guard the soul of America. You mean if I disagree with you I am somehow UnAmerican? That was tried in the 50's and the guys who started that went all down in flames protesting their own corruption. So now if we criticize a pool pro we are against the pool players of this world. Who the hell made you the supreme judge and jury. And now its too many "yankees"? You're thinking is just too twisted to follow. You think you love pool more than me? You think you love this country more than me?

Many Olympic athletes who cant make an American team will join a country that will accept them in order to compete. If I was of Irish heritage and an Irish team asked me to represent them and I could make $50K I would take it. Many would. So why is someone like Charlie's integrity questioned? Maybe you have suffered a lot these years but you aint the only one. So stop this jingoistic approach just to vent your frustration of having to go out there everyday to support what you are dedicated to. We all do it.

Stick to your Canadian politics. My American pharmaceutical companies are spending the billions and trillions of dollars creating new medicines, and as soon as they're out there, your country copies them and sells them for cheap.

I am exercising my First Amendment right.

You are offended when people use terms regarding race, so much so that you fly into a rage. It's okay for you to express your opinion about THAT, but I can't express my opinion about THIS? You can't have it both ways.
