Best Jump/Break Cue?

These go for $475.00 plus shipping. I can make any combination of curly (stained) and different ring material, Bocote, Red Heart, Rosewwod, extra for burl, Ironwood and any more expensive exotic woods or Turquoise or Malechite.

I was afraid of that. It certainly looks like it's worth every penny, and from what others have said here, sounds like it plays worth every penny too. Out of my price range, but great looking cue!

I will put my new Gulyassy break jump to the test with any break jump cue on the market today. Breaking, short cue jumps, and full cue jumping, straitness, finish and over all looks. Ask Dennis Hatch what he thinks of my new cue. It is the nuts. I have tried it out at a tournament and it is amazing, anyone with one of the NEW Gulyassy break jump cues would have to agree with my claims. I make everyone in my shop and the quality is unmatched. Every piece of the butt is cored and individually tapered to insure a concentric perfect section. Any movement is fixable with a quick and easy facing off. No one can beat my production quality anywhere in the world, I guarantee it.

Hey Mike. How would rate the new ones that you're building, against the ones Samsara built for you. What are the major differences? And is the shaft taper still the same?

Mike, what's the difference between the last generation of your break/jumps and this new one? I have the last one, and it was a piloted joint. It appears that this new one has a wood to wood pin?
The last generation that I have from you is awesome. Its my favorite by far, if this new one is better that's saying a lot.

I break with a Joss custom made break cue. A lot less than any of the other US made "break cues". If I was going to dump more than $200 on a j/b, I'd go with Rick Howard. His "Mace" jump break cue has been used by some of the top players in the world, including our very own John Schmidt. Between him and Archer, there's a few titles won with a Mace right there.

3 break/jump cues

Gulyassy/Samsara, an X-Breaker/Samsara, and a Tascarella custom. I've had good luck with all 3 of these break jump cues but there's still a whole bunch I haven't tried. I love the taper on the Gulyassy shaft. First time I tried one I was at Mike's booth in VF last year, I snapped off the 9 on the first break and said, "SOLD". I later got an X-breaker and found similar results. I like the g-10 tip better on the X-breaker for jump shots, but not the shaft's taper for the break. After that, I ordered a custom from Pete T. and got a monster! It has the best of both worlds IMO. G-10 1 piece tip, excellent shaft taper and precise fit and finish. Absolutely crushes the rack and surpasses both the Samsara made cues in all area's by a considerable margin. At a price of nearly 4 times the X-Breaker, I wouldn't have expected anything less. But consider this, if you play for cash, you want the highest quality break shot you can afford to get the job done! At the price Mike's selling his new break/jump for I wouldn't hesitate to buy another, and he does make one hell of a custom sledge if you can afford it.

Sorry I let this go, I was at at a pool tournament this weekend and really loved it. The main difference in my cue and the Samsara is that every piece is cored in the butt. I have made the forearm lighter with an aluminum pin and the diameter of the butt is smaller. The shaft taper is the same. I gave the taper to Jim at Samsara to duplicate so it is actually my taper.

Another point about my new break jump is the wide range that I am offering in a short time to build. I am kind of partial to the curly maple for it's weight and beauty. I have made about 9 different custom break jump cues in the last month that all look very different. A little ring work or a different wood joint, ans I have some stains that cue maker would kill for. The shafts are my best improvement. I have a way to make them stiffer and more durable to hits and dings. Pretty hard to dent.

I love the original Sledge but this is the only drawback

I mean that the shaft can take a hit like grabbing the ball with the shaft. It still has the longest no taper available on production custom break jump cues. I do not believe that any other business can keep the taper I am producing as strait as I am without a core. I say this because I have had other companies make this taper for me and they gave up on it. The shaft should give a little for the best break with control, and it does not affect the jump at all.

I agree. The original Sledgehammer was a great cue. I've had a bunch of J/B cues and it was up there with the best of them. I've also had a newer one and I didn't care for it.

The new Gulyassy

I just bought a new B/J from Mike and am really looking forward to trying it out in a couple of weeks :) Mike sells it well!

J

my 2 cents..

I have tried a few different break cues. I bought a lucasi back in 98 or 99 and broke with for a long time when i started playing enough to warrant having one , it breaks nice, then i bought a custom J/B from Waldo's on the board here because i love the old school look of it, its a Bill Hoyt and it breaks a ton and actually plays well and i take it into some dives just so i only have one cue. that cue has paid for itself a few times over for sure. then i bought a SE Shannon " The Cannon " Daulton custom break cue since im a SD fan, and actually had him sign it for me. It Breaks Jam UP too!
Also Anyone who I know that owns a Sledgehammer never buys another break jump cue.
just look around, and see what you like and buy it, I still break with all 3 of those cues as i get moody on what to play with and switch it up alot.

have fun shopping

I'm curious what everybody thinks is the best jump/break cue out there? Not just a jumper or break but a combo jump/break. Opinions welcome on this topic.

I just got an X Breaker recently, and I can't imagine using anything else.
It's simply awesome.

cuetec break and jump cues are a good type of cue to use in billiards thanks:)

I have a buddy that plays with a Southwest cue, and his break cue is a CueTec. I gave him a dirty look for the CueTec.

He said he wouldn't have it, if it wasn't good. So, he made me try it out.

I reluctantly broke an 8 ball rack with it, and it wasn't half bad. I was surprised. It actually is a pretty decent break cue. Can't comment on it for jumping, though.

My girlfriend had a CueTec playing cue, and I shot with it a few times. It was like a piece of lumber. I hated it, but they make decent break cues.

yeah actually cuetecs do make good break cues, the fiberglass on the shaft gives it some good strength. put on a good hard tip and it will perform pretty good. i think the taper helps too, it's a long 15" pro taper which makes it easier to stroke. normally a long pro taper like that would be whippy as hell, but fiberglass stiffens it pretty well

But can your cuetec jump full cue?
