hey there AZ'ers

I was lucky enough to win Hangemhigh's Free Christmas raffle for the Elephant Ear wrap WHOOHOO :D. I'm considering having it installed on my Bluegrass but I would like it done by the BEST! I know that's pretty subjective, but I'm sure there are plenty of opinions on here as to WHO installs the best 1 peace leather wraps.

I have included a picture of my cue hoping to get some opinions on color choice... I can have Black or Tan (I'm leaning towards Black) but thought I would get some opinions/suggestions on that as well. I have asked to see a pic of both options since the "shade" of the wrap could influence my decision. When(if) I get them, I'll update the post.

Thanks, your input is much appreciated!

PS I posted this in the Wanted/For sale first, hopefully I can get some good suggestions here...

John,
Think no more. Kenny is the master. He is also not far away from me. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help you out

IMO your cue looks great just as it is. Unless you prefer the feel of a leather wrap I'd leave the linen wrap on your cue.

No Brainer!!

Kenny Koo(Flying Snail) is the best! Here is a picture of my Schon he wrapped flawlessly.

When I saw the title of this thread I immediately thought of Richard Hsu of RJH Custom cues - for two reasons. Firstly because he is the only one who's leather work I had the chance of seeing in person (Hungary is POOR in custom cues... very poor) and two: his prices were the best that I could find and more importantly he was always answering promptly, had very good communication and was very careful in shipping and other things.

He is someone whom I can recommend 100% because not only his work is flawless - he installed a $200 genuine teju-lizard wrap - and his communication is over the top as well.
Here is his e-mail address that I used to talk with him back then: RJHCues@aol.com

I totally agree with the guys about Kenny since I've seen his work and had great contact with him in the past and I would just like to add that my number one option for a leather wrap is smooth black calf skin.
I believe this would fit perfect to your cue which looks great by the way!
Any other Harris cues in mint condition available anywhere?
I have good high end cues for trading..
Happy holidays to everyone!

You beat me to it!!

For a $100 you could get a flawless job done here in Tulsa, Oklahoma and it is fairly close to TX. Call Pete Petree and he could do a wrap job for you.
His number is (918) 398-3600

On this page, you have a good selection to choose from. I would personally choose #3 for you cue.

I had several cues wrapped by JW Petree and the work was flawless and turnaround time was quick and all very professional!!

Easy

Who ever made the cue should do the wrap when custom cues are involved. It really affects the value of the cues when all work is not by the builder.
Nick :)

It's been interesting... Everyone has said go with black and many have said to use Koo. However there have also been several folks that don't think it would look good(right) on this Harris.... Maybe I'll just save it for something else. The Harris is the nicest cue that I own but maybe it's too plain for an elephant wrap. I guess I could just sell it to someone with a fancier cue like a gina, prewett, szamboti, something like that. I don't see my self buying any fancier for awhile since I have another baby on the way... what do these things go for, obviously unistalled, I've never priced them

Leather Wrap Installer

FLYINGSNAIL Kenny Koo installed a wrap on my Mike Bender cue and did a great job. I would use a brown wrap.

Dave Albrecht does awesome wraps. So far he has wrapped 12 cues for me and is in the process of doing another right now on an old Brunswick. Here are a couple pics of a High End Helmstetter that he wrapped in chocolate brown alligator.
