Utah

Just to clear the Utah/Damian confusion.

Damian Pongpanik grew up in Salt Lake, moved to Portland for a short time, but is now back in Utah.

I think Damian Alishan also grew up here in SLC, but I am sure that he now lives in CA.

Tommy Baker was probably the best player here in his prime, but I don't think he hits them much anymore, although I would ask him for the seven.

Ace Brown is on the short list of great players in this state.

If Mark Tadd still lives here, and I think he does, he would have to be the favorite. Especially after his strong performance in Reno.

One player that doesn't get mentioned a lot, but should, is Jeff Clark. He runs EO's (the only real pool hall in Salt Lake) and also finished well in Reno.

The future best player in Utah will be Andy Spear. Give him a couple more years and he will give all of Utah the eight ball.

both of those live in Illinois. Chad vilmont, whitey walker are the best currently. but if kucharo got right or don mccoy gets in gear they can give them a run for the money.

whitey doesnt play much but is a champ. don mccoy hardly ever competes but got 3rd in the dcc one pocket 2-3 years ago.

Whitey is real good. Saw him 3 weeks ago destroy Jesse Bowman 7-1.

Not sure if this is Iowa or Ill. but what about Tommy "Tommy Gun" Hernandez? Windy City Open champ, and points leader in the 3 Seasons Tour in suburban CHI.

i dont see Travis Trotter listed anywhere? does anyone know what state he lives in?

DCP

I was thinking of adding him, but I wasn't sure what state either. I seem to remember a post from a few months ago about him moving to North Dakota, but I don't know if it ever happened.

Tommy Hernandez is living here in Illinois now, and should be towards the top of the list.

Wow, thanks Kevin. You're not too bad a player yourself.;) I still have some hurdles to get over. But, one day I hope to get there....

Thanks again,

Uath - I see you have Mark, Damian And Ace. Tommy Baker has been the best player in Utah (except for Tadd when he's playing) since moving there in 1994 or 95. Others to consider Rick John, Cris Muirbrook, Ron Pizel and Jeff Clark.

Wy - Tony Wert, Dago Huber
ID -Tim Joesph

Ismael "morro" paez in california, world champion runner-up

Ernesto Dominguez! I put him right up there as far as California players. His play is always consistant and he is always very respectful and nice, not to mention that he also works a LOT.

Arizona: Jimmy Mendoza! Another hell of a guy with a full time job:) .

And he's over 50, I think. Not too shabby. Ernesto continues to win those tournaments in California and, for those of you who haven't played in L.A., they have some really tough fields. And, like you said, the guy works. It's pretty impressive.

Thanks for the compliment. I have my moments out here but, as part of the consequences of choosing a stable life over the pool life, I can sure play pretty bad some times. Of course, even knowing that, it doesn't make it any easier to swallow when it happens.

For the state of Vermont, you can add Dave Fernandez (not quite sure of the spelling) to the list...

I've always liked Ernesto and his game. With Davenport in Georgia now I would put Ernesto right there with Billy Palmer at second behind Parica for his consistency and solid pro-level play.

I can attest to that,, After watching the last leg of the all-around at Alexanders this past weekend, the tables are really the show!! The players are merely chess pieces..If it's your move you are in total control..The mailman got control of the table and it was all over..Freezer was on a mission and the rest as they say was history!!
I'm just glad i'm 55,this weekend is the Senior tournament and it's too late to get the tight model of those 7 ft. diamonds! Just make sure you have your floaties on and don't get swallowed by those ENORMOUS POCKETS!!!!!
