Best pool purchase - non cue

What was your best non-cue/case/table pool-related purchase? In any terms.

For me, I look at my bookshelf and see a few books that I pat myself on the back for having the fortune of buying them back then.

I bought Shot, Moves, Stategies for $45 or whatever Cornhusker/Mueller's was selling it right out of the catalog. I would have bought Winning One-Pocket right then as well, but they had already sold out.

Even when it was already out of print and highly desired, I snagged a copy of Winning One-Pocket (with errata sheet) at the Super Billiard Expo for $60. I almost lost out on this because while I was asking about the price and thinking about it, some a$$ (JimBo) bought the book from the guy. Fortunately, the vendor had two books.

It's hard to choose between the books: McGoorty by Robert Byrne or Banking with the Beard by Freddie Bentivegna.

Two Full Size Boxes of Players Choice chalk and a box of Old Triangle chalk and a box of old Masters chalk. All these play like chalk is supposed to. Masters changed the formula several years ago and cues have not played right ever since. The Stretch System bridge and extension would be another top choice. It allows you to shoot any shot with natural stance.

Three sets of Brunswick Centinial balls, two sets of Aramith, and a few house cues from a Rec Center that was closing.

Ultimate Tip Tool, for shaping and knurling my tip.
Leather shaft burnisher, for keeping my shaft feeling smooth and slick.
iPod, for drowning out (IMO) bad music and other distracting noises.
A chalk holder, so I stop stealing the chalk from the table when my inning is over.

Good Rolls,
Rasta

8 foot Centennial table for $750
GC II with ball return for $950
9 ft Sport King for $375

Byrne's complete book of pool and billiards. It got me to thinking of what a outstanding activity this pool is.

Jim

my best thing that i purchased was some old pictures of pool halls from the 1800's and pics of "The Hustler".they are hanging on my pool room walls and are very inspiring to me...:)

Inner game of Tennis--the best of the "inner" game books by Tim Galwey. This was the first widely distributed book on a zen styled approach to sports, and still the best in my view.

Many thanks to George Fels, who wrote about this book 30 years ago in Billiard Digest. Damn ... that hurt ... 30 years ...

Pocket reducers have been my best purchase. They have helped my game more than anything else. for only $30 on ebay :D
