Beware Of This Ebay Seller

I purchased a cue from this clown on ebay a few months ago & he charged me 29.95 shipping for fed ex. I assumed overnite shipping for that amount. He sent it fed ex ground for 6 bucks! I called to ***** & got some lackey who does his shipping. THG cues. Wow!

Why dont you send a package overnight, anywhere, for 29.95.. Tell me where you send it through and I will do all my shipping from them...

same for Fed Ex ground service, or UPS, Or DHL.

Useualy on Ebay there is a shipping calculator use it.

Im not upholding anyone but you should know the shipping rates. COD also cost you an additional 9 dollars useualy, as well..

The Insureance is where I smell a fish, 9.99 is absurd.. He must be insuring the cue for 10,000 $$$

It useualy cost me 12$ to ship a cue with insureance, that includes the box bubble wrap and everything..

If actual shipping is lower or Higher, you pay the actual amount.

Im opening a Ebay store, so this is a real concern to me, never heard of tcg custom cues, but I wouldnt buy from this person either because the insureance is "Jacked up"

I've seen that guy on there selling a ton of Meucci's and he is way overpriced half the time. Now I just skip his auctions and wont even look at em.

In the link you posted it clearly states that shipping and handling is $29.95 for FedEx Ground in the lower 48. Don't know how it could be more clear. Pretty standard practice to pad your "reserve" with S&H charges on low cost items.

I'd say this is a classic case of jacking up the selling price thru s&h costs.
Normally I'd disapprove of this kind of thing, but the ebay fees are really out of control,
s&h costs are (they still are right?) free from fees so I'm in the middle on this one.

I don understand why you'd assume overnight for $29.95 when overnight is
mentioned as a shipping option costing $49.95.

If I recall correctly, he had an entire convention room at the BCA league tourney last may, next to the AZB room.

well, 29.95 is really too much for a ground shipment. but his eBay store did indicated the cost of the shipment clearly. 49.95 is what he charge for overnight shipment. it is probable that you didn't ask or read about the terms carefully before you bought the cue.

Dunno much about it but sometimes, some people do charge too much for shipment. anyway, it says that the 30 dollars is the minimum transport fee. so that means that you oblige yourself to pay that amount. call it unfair, but you bought it anyway.

From the listing:
Shipping and Handling
US $29.95 United States Other (see description)
US $49.95 United States Overnight Flat Rate Shipping Service 1 business day*

You see these all the time. It's up to you to read the fine print and decide if that the premium is worth it. Everything was laid out and you can't assume the price is for overnight. Clearly in the listing, there is a different price for overnight. Sorry, you weren't deceived.

I've gotta agree with most of the posters! Is that high for ground shipping, Yes. Was shipping clearly stated as being ground, Yes. Looks like you, the buyer should read more carefully. Cannot give you my sympathy vote on this one and you will not ship anything overnight for $29.95 from my experience.

READ the auction and all terms before bidding next time.. JMHO!!

The thing about S&H are there are TWO parts, S and H. The seller jacked up the cost for his handling to make sure he made some money. Not an uncommon practice.

"handling"

Most of us do all the handling for free but if we don't ship as a part of business we probably spend over an hour packaging and bringing the item to the nearest drop off point. The handling fee on many items should be far more than it is if we actually charged a fair rate for handling. I have spent several hours shipping many packages.

I've shipped cues overnight express across country for less than that on a number of occasions using USPS. Guaranteed to arrive by noon the following day or it's free.

The part that makes this thread worthless is:
I assumed overnite shipping
The auction clearly has $29.95 for shipping AND $49.95 for overnight shipping. Your post indicates you paid $29.95 - which is the price for standard shipping, and not for overnight. That price includes "handling" - which I would assume includes the time it takes to package the cue, get it to the shipper, and shpping materials (tube, box, tape, etc). So you think you paid too much for shipping and handling - well it appears that it was all part of the deal - and written in plain english on the eBay auction page.

Besides, it's hard to take the price of the cue and separate it from the shipping and handling charges. The whole thing should be considered a package. So, if the cue is 20 bucks, and shipping is 30 bucks, you actually have a $50 deal.

Lastly, it's widely known that eBay sellers will often reduce the cost of an item and recoup that cost in extra shipping charges.

None of these things should come as a surprise to anyone any more...

When I bought the cue last year he didn't specify ground. Only stated fed ex shipping..Even so, 29.95 for Fed Ex ground is beyond acceptable business practice.

I don't know why....

anyone would think that you should be paid for handling. I mean, everyone works for free, right?

I agree, somewhat

The guy who sold u the cue is Mark the Cueguy. He's a local here in Arizona, and I have bought a pool table from him before, which he gave me a very fair price for, and he even delivered it for free. I think the amount he's charging for shipping cues is too expensive, especially since he mostly sells production cues. He set up the Johnny Archer challenge match at Kolby's a couple weeks back, and works with the UPA also, and isn't too bad of a dude in my experience. I have bought several cues on eBay from other sellers and have even sold one on there, and shipping has never been that much, so I agree it's excessive. I would've assumed it would've been either overnight or two-day delivery for that amount, so I have to side with Daniel on this one. Mark is a good resource for table cloth, tips, jump cues, and even sometimes pool tables, so I wouldn't label the dude a seller to avoid. I would suggest if you buy anything from the guy, just confirm the arrangement before bidding or paying. Like I said, from my experience I know Mark has been a stand up dude so it might be unfair to label him a gypsy, but I agree that amount for shipping is kinda crazy. I had a Jap try to charge me $150 for shipping a pair of Levi's once that I won on eBay. I went through the proper channels and filed a complaint and didn't have to pay the mofo, so it happens, but u can maybe still resolve it. I dont particularly like ads from any eBay seller that have fine print like that. Esoteric language is usually hiding a simple message, like "shipping for this item is going to kick your ass".:p

Dude,He clearly states in the auction Shipping and HANDLING. That means he carges you to package the cue and then ship the cue to you for X ammount. These is no esoteric language hiding anything. This dude,Daniel, is trashing someone for no legitimate reason.

Were I in your shoes, I'd chalk this one up to a very inexpensive lesson.

FWIW, one of the first things I look for if I'm interested in bidding for something on eBay is the shipping cost. Sometimes those costs vary depending on where you are. "Assuming" can be very costly. BTW, that $9 and change he's charging for insurance is way out of line too. But it's up to the buyer to determine if they want it or not.

I don't care if its cue sticks, clothing, furniture, golf balls or any other damned thing. IMO, scumbags like this feed on folks who innocently assume honesty in sales practice. If you can't sell something competitively by listing the price and including whatever profit margin you need, then sell something else.

Sure it said ground, sure he should have seen that, and sure, sure, sure, for all the lame excuses for anyone selling anything and resorting to these tactics.

You have a stick that you can purchase from your supplier and sell at a competitive price, then do it. You need to make money for handling in order to stay in business? No problem, do it. In the price of the merchandise. Not by baiting buyers who are less than totally observant.

Ebay is loaded with unscrupulous sellers who will do whatever it takes to get their item sold. One of the most common practices is just this. Lower your price to get attention and then pad it on the other end.

If some don't see this as an unethical practice, then they are simply dancing to the beat of a different moral standard than I.
