after closing up the shop one day,
i thought i would grab a beer from the fridge on the patio.
yes, we rednecks keep an extra fridge outside just for adult beverages.
doesnt everyone?
i turned around to see Ernie the Elk in my backyard
a majestic sight he was
no time to go get my rifle
i had but one thing to do
i threw the full beercan at Ernie, whacked him right between the eyes.
Ernie fell to the ground , stunned, dazed & wondering wtf just happened.
i ran to the shop to get my sawzall and promptly removed Ernie's rack,
thanked him and sent him on his way
and then i woke up

now the real story
we dont have elk running around the burbs of cincinnati
a friend of mine brought these two antlers back from a ranch in wyoming
her uncle had these hanging on the wall for 50plus years
she remembers them from when she was a kid
approx. 2.50" at the base, 40plus " long
both had a straight enough and long enough section to get a pair of handles out of them

bocote & elk
a couple weeks away from completion
i love my job
having as much fun as i do, it's really not a JOB

Wow!!

Super nice Brent, love the look of the elk handle...

From looking before reading, I thought you caught him hanging out in your hot tub :grin-square:

Brent pretty cool stuff, I also like your new ringwork.
Thanks for sharing.

I usually don't like the look of antler and bone material. But this combo really works.

Nice job, Brentster!!

That's really really cool Brent!
Now for the golden question....Are we there yet?? You know what I mean...

Excellent!!! I love to see folks using natural products that are not in danger of extinction. The black in the horn gives it an awesome look too! I love it.

WB <------ Also has a mini fridge in the garage with Busch Lite and Natty Lite.

This cue would've been mine if you stuck to your first story that you killed the animal with your beer can. Heck if you threw in the Can that killed the animal with an LOA i'd pay you a gazillion dollars... too bad you woke up and so did i and realise i'm a dollar short of a gazillion dollars

I want your pweeetty pweetty butterflies sir..... that said this cue is still mighty unique and cool. If you're gonna do more of this cue might i suggest you try segmented handle with the antler. Would look real cool i think.

thank you
yes, front 6" cored at .750" , back 6" bored out to .875"
gun drill goes thru like a hot knife thru butter
the center of antler is marrow

the 1st story was pretty neat huh:thumbup:
lol
all kiddin aside, i get a kick out of using something provided by mother nature
yeah, i know, it aint as pretty as ivory, in the eyes of some,
but it is what is is .
if it was ivory, it would be double or more the cost
i like it , if i didnt, i wouldnt use it
so now i have to klunk a butterfly in the head with a beercan ?
i'll try , better practice my aiming, holy shitt,
those suckers are small and fast
