Sorry this is long but I would really appreciate everyones input!
I was playin a guy the other night and we were at 7-7 goin to nine so this rack was to get on the hill. The 2 and 9 ball were close to each other so I asked him to watch the hit, and a friend came over and watched. The friend called it a good hit but my opponent called it a split hit(they hit simultaneously) which he said is bad. I said the benefit of a split goes to the shooter and asked 3 other pool players in the place what the rule is and they agreed. He is not from around here so he said my friends ruling wasnt fair and that he stated the night before when we played that a split is bad. He did say that and I spoke against it but when he insisted I just got down and made sure I made a good hit. I understand his part of the argument but at the same time split hits are good right? Thats what the BCA rules say anyway? I offered to let him rebreak the rack or we could go back to 5-5 but I was not giving him ball in hand. He got mad and quit saying that it was bullshit and if I showed him that rule in a rule book he would believe it and we would finish the set with me up 8-7 or vise versa if I was wrong. When I talked to him today he said hes not gona do it because he asked around and people said he was right and since I didnt correct him the night before about split hits being bad then that was the rule. What am I suppose to do? I should be finishing a $100 set to 9, up 8-7 but instead he is just arguing. We had set up a game at his place for tom night, a head set for $500 -$1000 but I feel like if I let this set go and keep playing him then hes gotten the best of me and that puts me on the ass end of things.
