biggest confirmed packages

I remember reading on a thread similar to this that Ralf Souquet ran around 26 racks in 8ball. Not sure if on a barbox or big table? In one of the fatboy challenges Busty runs around a 7 pack of 10ball against Rafael Martinez. I know it's not the biggest package, but a solid one none the less. I think the final score was 15-1 or 15-2. At one point the announcers (may have been Incardona or Diliberto?) say they can't imagine anyone playing better than this. I have the dvd, but I haven't seen it in a while and my memory is terrible....

27

Actually Ralf Souquet ran 27 racks in 8-ball in practice! It's been a 9-footer, and he missed a kick after opening up a cluster...

It is really hard in some cases what to believe and what not to.
I believe, 526 in 14.1, 15 racks 9-ball, 27 8-ball and 8 in 10-ball.

The most impressive huge runs I'm aware of have to include Eddie Taylor running 37 banks in a row in a money match. They played Full Rack Banks back then, no short rack.

I watched Efren practicing at One Side in Manilla run three consecutive racks of Rotation. It's a lot harder than you think to break and run just one rack. I'll give anyone 5-1 who thinks they can beat the 15 ball ghost. ANYONE!

I was in with Jimmy Reid when he played one of the Mexican hustlers in L.A. bar box 9-Ball. They played ten ahead for $200. Jimmy was down four games and he ran out the set (14 in a row!).

I know that 15 ball rotation is hard as hell to beat one rack. I'm not looking to bet it either way, but are you talking BIH the after break for 5-1 anyone? Johnnyt

I did a Google picture search for "big package" to find something funny to post here and saw things that can't be unseen...

I don't think it would be BIH! I'm only a B player and I can run 1 out of 10 for sure with BIH! I'm thinking the top pros gonna run 3-4 out of 10,,,, at least with BIH! Just my lil ol opinion!

Roger "the rocket" griffis

The most racks I've run is 17 in the finals of the Dallas Firecracker Open against Roger Griffis (who won the winner's side) - I had to beat Roger twice in the finals, and he quickly got me 9/4 in the first set.

The next time he made a ball it was 10/0 in the next set (racing to 11 both sets) - I ran 6 racks, then 5 racks, then 6 more racks (missing the 2 ball in the 7th).

After it was over, Roger, who was a good friend, looked at me and said

"why me?" I responded "it wasn't personal "Rocket" I was super deep in the zone."

Roger looked down, nodded his head and repeated "why me though, out of all these players, why did you have to do it to me?"

I felt bad for him, but there was nothing I could do. Year's later he said it effected him for about 3 months (he was just coming from playing Efren in the finals at Sands/Reno and also played him in the finals at Hardtimes LA).

When the TAR table was still super tight, Shane ran a seven pack to close out the first day against I believe it was Alex.

Jaden

He also did a 6 pack or two in that match. TBH the packages SVB did in that match are by far the most impressive break and run records I have ever seen because of how tough that table was, and the fact it was 10-ball.

Both SVB AND Alex shot insanely good in that match, but Alex simply could not break good enough to keep up over the long run. They both proved that the top pros can play world class pool on truly tough equipment.

Raj Hundal and Oscar followed up by proving that second tier pros on the other hand, cannot.

That is why I loved that equipment and think it should be the standard for pro pool it really does separate the true elites from the other guys.

Your a true B player?? I'll give you 10-1 you can't do it once it 10 racks. I'm in the Dallas area should you ever want to take me up on it.

This happened while practicing for the IPT. I mean, 27 racks is no mean feat, but to do it on a table set up for the IPT (slow cloth, tight pockets) puts it on a another level - at least for me.

You may feel this broadens the definition of a package a bit, but .........

Last week, at the World Chinese 8-Ball Masters event, Yang Fan had an alternating-break 10-pack.

He completed his semifinal match with 3 in a row, then started the finals with 7 in a row.

So it was alternating breaks and it spanned two matches. Still, pretty good on those 9-foot C8B tables.

Efren's EVERYDAY warm-up is to start with ball in hand and run 3 racks of 15 ball rotation in a row...doesn't make any difference if it takes him 3 hours or does it on the first try, that is his routine.

Supposedly,Jimmy Reid ran 7 racks and out in 2 consecutive sets then started his next match with 6 in a row at what used to be the Super Bowl tournament at The Rack in Memphis, this was said to be in the late 80's.

At the same place in the early 90's,I watched an "artificially assisted" Danny Cook break and run out an 8-ahead set gambling on a bar box in about 12 minutes. For a LONG time after that,I honestly thought Danny was the best bar box player on Earth.

Word is Matlock was at LEAST the 8 or the 7 better than that,so it wouldn't surprise me if the stories about him running 20-something were on the level.

NO one saw the whole thing because it took like 5-6 hours, but an insanely talented 14.1 player named Mike Eufemia supposedly ran 654 balls at one time. This is a guy so strong that Grady told me the regulars where he played would bet he ran 200 EVERY NIGHT OF THE WEEK,and he did it for a friggin' DECADE.

Alex ran 14 racks of 10 ball with respots at JOB's in Nashville for THE CASH playing the ghost, with the ghost on the hill...Tommy D.

The top pros can give up 7/5 every game and win playing the ghost.

1981 Roanoke Virginia Nine Ball Tourny,Bill Lawson came from the losers bracket to play Allen Hopkins in the finals. Tight race , Bill beat Allen the first set 11 to 9. The second set of the match (double elimination) Bill Lawson came to the table , and from the brake
Ran The Set Out. Bill at that time was in his early 60's.:shocked2:
When it was over..Allen who didn't really know Bill,,or of him couldn't believe what had happened...but those who knew,,knew that Bill had done that very thing many many times
he was The Road Player , Back in the late 50's and early 60's--There's a story about Sailor playing Bill and sailor getting the best of him..but not playing him any more afterwards, saying that Bill Played too good

It was 625 (same digits but in opposite order of Mosconi's 526), in an exhibition in 1960 at the Logan Billiard Academy in Brooklyn.
