Who do you feel has made the most impact or contribution to the billiard industry?

I don't mean one specific act or deed. I'm talking over time, who do you feel helped the sport the most?

Easy.

Diamond.

I am speaking about the last 20 years (which is most relavant to me :D )

One way to realize all that they do is try to imagine what it would be like if they were not around.

Scary.

First name that popped up in my head was Jeanette Lee. She is "kinda" like the modern-day Minnesota Fats, although for differents reasons. I mean, there are people that don't know anything or care anything about pool that knows who she is. I'm not saying that she is my favorite industry person, I'm just saying that she has marketed the sport well!!!

It doesn't matter. Who, in your opinion, has done the most for the sport?

The women when they broke away from the male pros, I think it was 91 or 92 at the US Open, they were tantamount at keeping our sport exposed to the public, good or bad its all good when there was no structure anywhere else. Also I felt it was important getting the Junior Nationals into the colleges for their finals and away from the smoke, alcohol and all that goes on in a bar atmosphere...still today our sports biggest obstable between us and the American public.

Kudo's big time for Greg Sullivan.
Kudos for John Lewis and his work/love ethics on billiards.
World body of pool and what its trying and actually doing for the sport.
Asian and European events increasing.
Puyat and of course EFREN.

I'm sure I missed a few.

I'm to humble to vote for myself so I vote for my arch enemy (God Rest His Soul), John McChesney. He made the big push that helped all regional tours get off the ground that have helped to keep this sport going.

I'd have to say that Barry Behrman certainly gave the billiards industry a helping hand by establishing the US Open, the longest run and most distinguished title in pool. It brings players from all across the world together every year.

I would say Brunswick because they have been around over a 160 years, and they were pretty much the shit for sooooo long. Over the past 20 I would agree with Diamond.

She has marketed herself real well.

For competitive pool:
Have to go with Diamond in my lifetime
After that, Efren

For B.S. pool:
Pool leagues (this could be much more if they weren't as profit hungry and actually wanted players to strive to get better)

If you mention him, {which I agree}, we must mention Randy G, and Robin Adair too. As I've always understood it, they were all joined at the hip.

Tough to argue this one. They certainly want to make a difference and not afraid
to be involved.

I thought it intresting that nobody has mentioned Brunswick.

Great question.

Uhhhhmmmm.....In the last 10 years the biggest contribution to pool has been Azbilliards / Mike Howerton / This Forum...and the people on it.

No magazine has amassed as much popularity as this web site / forum.

For me anyway...It is the center point of how I stay in touch with every thing that is going on in the pool world.

If it were not for this site. I would have missed out on a lot of pool related happenings in other parts of the country / world.

Jeannette Lee. She is the ONLY recognizable person to the non-pool world. Therefore she is the face of pool. That's a fact. Maybe. And I mean maybe they know who Allison is. They certainly don't know any of the men.

I'm going to say for person of course Jeanette Lee. Even people who dont know her name or anything about the game knows The Black Widow.

And for everything else I'll say the APA. Over 265,000 members and new people joining / starting pool every day because of it. Diamond is great but theres always going to be a great table company. Look at how many still prefer Brunswick.

So Jeanette Lee and also the APA.
