This month's feature story is now up on the Billiards Digest site. Congrats Melissa.

Mike

Thank you. I just read it for the first time - and I don't know exactly how to feel. It is brutally honest...and it exposes my fears and insecurities and weaknesses for all the world to see. But, at the same time, it tells my story and introduces "me" to everyone, too.

I hope that people don't read it and develop an opinion of who I am based on who I was at one time. I have very much enjoyed my pool career...and meeting new players and fans from all over the country. Without my turbulent past...I might not have been tough enough to make it to where I am....and I wouldn't have had the chances to travel and make new friends. Even though I regret the things I may have said or done in the past - I wouldn't trade the journey for anything.

Thanks to everyone for all the support throughout the years!

Most Sincerely - Melissa

Melissa,

That was a sweet story. I only know you from how you are on this forum and I've wanted to say for a long time that you seem like a great person. I think that interview helped to seal the deal, for me anyway. You are my type of gal, LOL! Also, IMO, you should NEVER regret the past...you have learned from your experiences and they have helped to shape you into who you are today. And for what it is worth...I'll clap for you. :D

Take care.

Wow that was an great article, it really shows us the fans how you've came a long way not only as a player but as a person as well.

Go get em in Florida!

Hey Melissa,

That was a great story. The brutally honest approach is the only way to go. Everyone would much rather know the real you rather than anything else. You know that I'm still really sorry about that Christmas spread. All of us players know that you deserve great things. I'm glad you everyone else finally realized that.

See you next week,
Sarah

Hey Melissa,

Excellent article & pictures! I think all great players go through an "angry" phase...caring that much is what makes them great. And getting through it is what makes them champions! Congrats on your first feature article...I'm sure it won't be the last.

Melissa, I just wanted to drop a note to say I thought the article about you was excellent. I would much rather read about the real person as opposed to a bunch of fluff that doesn't mean anything.

Danny "Kid Delicious" Basavich has done several interviews as of late, and he was totally honest and up front about his life as a pool player. He received criticism from some about his bluntness about himself, but anyone who really knows Danny can't help but like him.

BTW, I don't get the opportunity to attend the ladies tour events, but if and when I do, I hope to meet you. You bear an uncanny resemblance to the most beautiful girl in my world, and that is my daughter.

I actually really enjoyed reading about your background and how you rose to the top. You've worked hard to get there, and I hope you enjoy every minute of it. You have achieved what others can only dream about.

You've now got a new fan, and that's me! Looking forward to seeing you compete in TV! :)

Landshark, Larry, John, Deanna, sniper, Paul, & JAM -

You guys rock! Thanks for understanding the nature of the article and realizing that a couple of tantrums do not make me a complete brat...LOL. I look forward to meeting each and every one of you....if I haven't already...

Sarah and Jenn -

Thanks for the continued support and friendship. See you in Florida!

Love - Melissa

Great article, Melissa. Your honesty impressed me, for in the end, your past explains your competitiveness and drive.

Congratulations on a long overdue feature article, though you may rest assured, you never had any problem getting recognition from me. I'd heard about you even before I was a first-hand witness to your rock solid play at the WPBA Nationals at Soaring Eagle in 2001.

Interesting that you mentioned the Corr match from the 2002 BCA Open. You caught a major stroke that week and it really looked like you might get that one. I remember that match well, but had no idea how much it had motivated you.

Can't wait to watch you on TV.

Liked the article...sorry for taking so long to reply...it sounds just like you...sassy....but nice...

Now that you are a regular on TV...someone will have to come up with a nickname for you....??????

Does Steve have one for you??????

Howdy Wayne,

Melissa is known as the Dragon Lady.

Are you coming to the Michigan City tournament next year? If so I will probably see you there.

She has been known as the "Dragonlady", but I think you're right Melissa needs a new nickname.

Melissa, I was glad to read both in BD and on forum postings about your "self realizations" and attempts to improve all aspects of your life.Hope you aren't still angry at me. Cause that was what I was trying to get across to you that day at the hospital in Baton Rouge.....Yeah I'm that axxxole from back in your birth state. My apologies for being rude and crude. And ALL THE BEST in everything you do!Go get em!

The Nick - The Dragon Lady

Melissa:

Are you alright with this name or would you prefer to not have a nick or another one???

Btw - the article was great...

I live in Ontario and haven't seen you on TV yet...

bye for now...Wayne in Toronto
