Billiards: easier than cheerleading

I know which impresses me more and it isn't laying a beer belly on a table..

They should have left billiards off the list. Seriously, speed 0.75 out of 10?!? WTF. They have no idea about the game obviously.

Name some pool players who could compete against any other athletes in other sports. Then it'll be a sport.

I think it could be a good discussion but at the end of the day, Shannon Daulton isn't running 100 meters faster than the biggest NFL lineman.

Earl can compete in Javelin - using a Cuetec. :D

Really?

So being able to compete in sone other sport makes pool a sport? Ok. I am 45 and overweight and I can get on a diving board and compete.

My point is that the media including the sports media treats pool as a sport. So unless the collective group of reoporters spanning the past 100 years is wrong pool is a sport but a comparatively low stress one.

depends on if you gamble or not

Check out this ESPN ranking I came across. It ranks the 50 most difficult sports based on a variety of criteria. Billiards is slightly harder than fishing, yet still easier than cheerleading.

Forty-two high school and college girls have been killed cheerleading since the early eighties, often there is a higher percentage of serious injuries amongst the competitive cheerleading squad than the football team. The risks of competitive cheerleading have really skyrocketed in recent years with television coverage and higher rewards. It is very much a serious sport with little safety equipment and few safeguards in place the last I knew.

If pool players don't gamble it is a fairly safe sport. However just taking a quick look down the rankings of various sports in individual areas reveals that this list is pure BS since the panel was obviously clueless about many of the sports.

I am by no means an expert on pool Lord knows there are enough to go around. I had the talent to catch minor league baseball, quarterback in college, and I am a certified USPTA (Tennis) instructor.
What I have observed In the game of pool at the highest level PRO and or close to PRO if you miss you loose.
In no other sport or game from the start of the competition do I know we're this exists.
Now that is Difficult to deal with my friends?
Ok one example
Baseball fail 7 of 10 times = Hall of Fame

How about some points for risk of injury? If I'm not mistaken cheerleading is the #1 sport for high school injuries. My wife works in a school and is the varsity cheer coach. She comes home with bruises all the time just from helping spot the girls.
I'm no authority on how hard the sport is but it's dangerous.

Ok I just read the list. We can disregard this entire thread now. That list is a fawking joke.

The only thing they got right was that boxing is the toughest sport all the way around. Got to be smart enough to have and keep with a fight plan, stupid enough to let somebody hit you with taped hands that might as well be bricks inside those gloves, have coordination and speed to put a cat to shame, be tougher than nails, and have more endurance than a camel. I had a lot of fun with boxing gloves on when I was a kid, was never tempted to think I could have been a boxer. I sparred with an ex pro for awhile that was half my size, confirmed I had made the right decision!

Boxing is on the top of the list? So they are actually claiming that hitting another guy in the face is the most difficult sport there is?! Yeah right.. :D

This list was done a few years ago. This list is the dumbest f u c k i n g thing I ever read. Funny thing. Apparently rowing, badminton and cycling are harder to do than golf and pool. Guess leaning back and forth(rowing), pedaling and hitting a feather thing about 2 mph are more difficult. These people should have PhD taken away from their names for how dumb they apprently are.
