Biloxi Mike Murdered!!!!

It is Mike Surber, aka Biloxi Mike. Hopefully, more information will become available. Word on the street is that his cue sticks were stolen. If that is the case, it is definitely a homicide. I think missing cue sticks and the back of your head opened up should be ruled homicide.

The world is full of anger & hate. People are striking out against their fellow man all over the country.

The hate and anger seem to be fueled by the lack of economic opportunity (jobs), poverty in general and unfortunately religion too. Economics & religion seem to be the driving force behind these latest crimes.

Drugs seems to be taking a back seat to economics and religion. It starts to make me wonder if legalizing weed would help people cope with their problems or just make them worse. It's a sad state of affairs. :(

Mike, you were a gentleman and a friend to all who knew you. And yeah, you were a very good pool player.

RIP Mike Surber.

JoeyA

I agree w/ everything you said here. But one thing I want to add: Legalizing weed would only help those who care. Weed, marijuana, bud, smoke, grass, or whatever you want to call it is great for those who use it. People who smoke are not killers and don't steal to support there habit. And I will also argue this until the day I die: MARIJUANA IS NOT A GATEWAY DRUG! No more then alcohol, or anything you first try at a young age. And it's refereed to as a "drug" because the government says it is. And so many individuals are scared when they hear the word "drug". Where do you draw the line. Sure any mind altering substance is a drug....so then I when I have a few beers at work party I am going to tomorrow I will be taking a liquid drug!

We are living in an age of senseless violence and it sickens me more and more. This is why I don't watch the news, it's never good news!

May this man whom I hear was a kind great man rest in peace and the person(s) involved be penalized to the fullest degree!

Unfortunately I didn't know Mike. It sounds as if he was well liked and one of few gentlemen left in this gentlemans game. My sincerest condolences to his family and friends. It is never easy to lose a loved one but to do it this way is especially hard. I'm truly sorry.

Wow whoever the **** is who took the sticks.. those are blood cues now, if anyone sees one of those cues it will be tracked down to the thief and he will regret stealing them

Just from reading this thread, I'm of the opinion that this poor man's life was snuffed out by some desparados.

This forum reaches the four corners of the world, but it's still not enough.

I would like to get this story on Nancy Grace, along with pictures of any of the stolen property. Somebody out there knows something.

He was about my age. It's not fair that his life was stolen from him.

Let's keep dope/drugs/politics out of this thread, please.

Let's all try not to bring dope and politics into this thread about this tragedy. The poor guy appears to have been murdered and I seriously doubt it was because of a joint. Let's try to give the man a little more respect than that.

Rep to you, KTD! How in the world did dope and politics enter into this thread about the beloved Mike Surber?? (JoeyA, see what you did?) Although I'm sure the details will come out, it appears to be a robbery, pure and simple. Missing cues and missing money. Who cares what the perpetrators needed the money for -- we shouldn't care about that; only that this sickening deed was effected upon the gentle and kind Mike Surber. And yes, those are blood cues now -- let's keep an eye out for them, and bring the perpetrators to justice!

I tried to leave Ktown rep but I have to spread it around before I can do so. It was like he read my mind and posted it.

Hopefully we have a member on the forum that knew Mike well enough to know what kind of cues he had. A good description with pics of the same kind of cues (if available) would be very helpful. The local folks from that area that are on here could help keep an eye out for those cues which could hopefully lead to the arrest of the bastards that did this.

You are so right. I shouldn't have said anything about his cue collection either. Hell, the cues might still be in his house.

I should be horse-whipped.

OH MY GOD!! I can't believe this. I'm from Gulfport and I saw Mike regularly at Skeeter's Billiards. This is incredibly SAD news :(. I was looking forward to seeing/talking to Mike and the other regulars at Skeeter's when I go down to the coast in a couple of weeks. I really can't believe this.

I am also very shocked and very sad hearing this....Mike was also a friend of mine...we sat in the stands at the DCC the last few years at the DCC talking One Pocket and discussing the One Pocket matches that we were watching....Then, unfortunately (for me), lol, I had to draw him in the 4th round of the DCC One Pocket last year....we smiled about drawing each other, and he then proceeded to knock me out of the tournament...but if I had to get knocked out of the tournament, then I would just as soon it was Mike that did it...

Mike was a GREAT guy, and a GREAT One Pocket player.

I didnt know him, but when I saw his pic on the first page i recognized him instantly. I havent read this whole thread, man i hope this is a mistake.

I dont understand how A man could kill another man-unless it was self defence or some retalation.

I'm going to finish reading this thread,

i'm all bumed out:(:(:(:(

Mike was one of my only friends

May he rest in peace.

I'm doing a little digging, trying to find out some more details.

I did read that Mike Surber came in 10th place at the Derby City Classic earlier this year in the Banks Division at the Horseshoe Casino in Indiana.

Below is a picture from OnePocket.org website, along with this article when he came in second place at the Carolinas Open one-pocket tournament in 2005: http://www.onepocket.org/CarolinasOpen2005.htm

That is where I know him from. I remember him from that tournament.. he made a very strong showing. Seemed like a super nice guy... someone you would address as "sir" out of respect. I don't know what the heck is wrong with people these days...

I agree with you, I never spoke to him. But he was a Classy guy. I could tell just seeing him around. I agree he was a "Sir" or "Mr", I like to address people like that-its nice to have mannors.

Sounds like he was in the wrong place at the wrong time. God reas his soul.

Condolences to this mans family if they should read and to those close to him.

Drugs seems to be taking a back seat to economics and religion.

Don't really understand this statement , since the beginning of time men have killed each other for various reasons , usually for something the other has , or a crime of passion.

It seems a lack of religion being the cause or the lack of respect for another individuals life. These are things taught by parents and people rebel even against these things.

Whether you want to believe or not pool rooms can attract people like this more say trendy restaurants. Daytime railbirds who don't work looking for 10 dollar 9-ball games when they don't even have any money.

I wasn't that great a player but use to play 5 dollar 9-ball at Champs in Dallas in the late 80's , i was in between jobs and helping a friend doing remodeling work and sometimes we would take a day off for various reasons.

I would hang there on those days and was shooting 9-ball with this dude who had just gotten out of the pen when pool was free from mid day to 5 or so.

He came in one day wanting me to go shoot a drunk guy some 8-ball at a tavern down the street, he said the guy wouldn't shoot him anymore and said he had money.

I told i could never shoot a drunk to try and take his money , a long time rail bird and sometime backer was listening and turned to me and said, you'll never make a pool player.

Blaming religion or the economy is like blaming pornography for rapes. I know of no religion but Islam that advocates murder in its doctrines. That doesn't mean their adherents won't do it or use religion as a ruse.

Man is the problem.

Hi,
Mike's brother is going to Biloxi to attend to Mike's affairs, if we
can tell you what is going on we will.
There has been no confirmation that any of Mike's cue's have
been taken, the story is not folding out very well. But no one
at this time has said what he died from.

We are still in shock. We will give you what ever
information we can when we can so the rumours don't get
to crazy.

Mike Surber was a normal guy that was polite, a great golfer
and one of the best pool players he was funny, and very smart
he loved his family and they loved him, he has friends everywhere
he has travelled.

I can't even begin to tell you how much he will be missed.
The last pics I have of him is he is standing on our roof with a
chain saw, lol, he really was the perfect all round guy.

lots of hugs
Clay Alderman and Barb

Mike's AZ name was scenario
