Birthday Present - First Custom Cue Experience

I received this cue on my B-Day, June the second. This is a Capone, 19 oz cue with ivory joint, butt cap, inlays and rings.
Yesterday I only managed to play with it 25 minutes, but that was enough to experience the difference. Before this I had a Schon that had a great, but rather hard, stiff hit that I loved.

Well, this cue differs in many ways - firstly I wanted to find out how the sleeved ivory joint and the radial pin would hit as I did not have a clue about it (I just couldn't imagine). I have read that it hits "crisp" and that helped a little, but the experience is just uncomparable to anything.
The cue hits amazingly nice, it feels like as if every small component of it would collaborate in creating the final feel that gets to my hand. However I do feel that crisp feeling coming from the joint - it is not hard and can be felt just a little so it is by no means annoying - and it is marvellous.

I had a sniper and a kamui tip put on instead of the standard triangles - I didn't even shoot with the Triangles on - and yesterday I only tried the shaft with the sniper - I think I'll leave the other shaft all alone.

I will enclose a few photos that I took this morning, I hope you will like them.

As you may see I find it hard to collect my words and tell my overall experience because every little thing is just so perfect that I cannot mention all of them.

Maybe finally I should mention Capone's awesome work his fit and finish being not good but amazing. The points are long and sharp and even, the veneers are perfectly executed and finally all the inlays are razor sharp and flush - not to mention the rings.

This would be the perfect birthday present from myself to myself :)

Thank you for your time and here are the pics.

P.S.: all you may see is just dust, no dings or scratches on the cue.

Happy B-day.

Very nice, classic design. I am very fond of green and white linen. Now did you order this direct or did you buy it on the secondary market, if it is the latter, treat yourself to a custom ordered to your specs in a future birthday. Happy B-day and many more!

Thank you all very much for your wishes.

Paulybatz: I purchased it here, on AZ so it is not built to my specs - however I would not have bought it if I didn't fancy it's properties. I asked its weight, balance point, etc. and pull the trigger only after these.
Until this day I never felt like I had a cue that I'll never - or hardly ever... - sell; but now I feel that way and this is a great feeling to have.

Congrats

It is rare for that to happen...likely the birthday luck!!!

One piece of advice if you do decide to get another cue, be sure to keep this one until you are 100% happy with the next, do not join the crew of "I miss that cue and want it back"

Irish634: it definitely is my best birthday ever.

hangemhigh: I pretty much feel the same way! :)

Paulybatz: I hope that this cue will be the cue that I'll show to my children one day and explain them what are the points, the joint, the shaft, the ferrule, etc. Also, it will be a nice memory to the day receiving it and the thread I made for it on AZ.

runout1961: thank you, it is great having it here by my side.

Thank you all! :)

Beautiful present you have there. Glad you enjoyed it. :)

Btw, the tiffany diamonds in the butt remind me of a JMW i used to have. Still kicking myself for selling it :(

Beautiful cue, Mr. Capone makes really nice looking and great playing cues. You also take awesome pictures, very impressive. Thanks for sharing.

I'm glad you got a really nice cue and it shoots well I'm sure. Good luck with the new cue, it can only get better as you get use to it. :D

Thank you all very much for your compliments, it is great to hear that you like it too! I am glad that the pics came out good because in this way I can show what this cue is like when it comes to craftsmanship :)

Jeffrey: it was your Capone (the 4 point with those awesome rings and brown lizard) that made me want one this bad! :)
Berny: thanks, I am glad you like it - you share some very sightly pictures too so I had to work hard to get close to those. I still have got room to improve though.
Don: thank you too, it's great to hear that you like it.
Shamadam: definitely, I too fancy these long points - they look a bit extraordinary.
Brianna and roppongi: thank you too :)

Frankly, I couldn't be happier!

nice purchase there on the capone for your 1st custom, i hit with some capone and they hit great.

Welcome to the world of custom cues..........

Thank you for the warm welcome, it is great joining the club! It was strange how even those players who just attend pool halls to bang some balls and hang out with friends - and who hardly ever give a damn about your cue - took great care not to hit it with their barcues. I could see that they were aware that it is something to be taken care of and I must confess that I never experienced this before, no matter what cue were I using.

I took the cue out yesterday to play against my regular partner and despite that it's been a few months now that I did not practice nor played regularly - my eyes were so bad that I hated not only the game but myself too because I missed balls that were easy but far away.
However now I got my contact lenses - I couldn't play with my glasses on - and it made a huge difference! It was obvious for him and for me too that this time spent without playing had quite a bad effect on my ball choosing, my decisions and naturally on my stroke. Anyways, I did ran a few racks but we both could feel that I was not on top.

I am taking the very last part of my final exams on next Tuesday and after that... I'll be free until September! Damn, I will practice A LOT with this cue and hopefully I'll be able to attend some events too. I wish I'll catch a summer tourny or something :)

I can't tell how much I love this cue and sometimes, when I look at the picture in my avatar I feel like 'Gosh... I wish this cue was mine!' and then I realize... it is in my bedroom! Then I go there, take it out and just keep looking at it... That sounds weird but oh well... I love cues :)
