Black (new) Magic Rack?

I don't think they were real MR's at the China Open (they looked like paper) that just finished up this past wekend but the players were on the refs a number of times for the rack corners turned up about a 1/2" in the air and buckling. I can see trying to make a good poduct better but for God sake TEST it before turn it loose and you ruin the good following the product had already. IMO they have tried to make the racks too thin to try and please the few that say they deflect a ball rolling slowly over it. This was on TV all over China and who knows where else it was broadcasted. Johnnyt

Do you still have the foot spot sticker on the table when using the MBR?

If so I would remove it. Due to the difference in material it can cause the rack to move.

If any questions please feel free to email me at roy@magicballrack.com

Hi Roy;

You may be on to something. Yes, my table still has the footspot.

I am really liking using this black MR.

Can you explain is there a good way to get the protective film off? I ruined one rack and have not attempted it on the other two.

Best,
Brian kc

Ouch. How did you manage to crease them all? Johnnyt

Just the players in tournaments having no respect for the racks, they just grab them carelessly with their hands to remove them from the table.

I have personally been using a MR since last September, it is used for 3 hours a day, 5 days a week and there is not a crease in it.

I think we need to think of some way of charging players who damage the racks.

Put a sign up that says if you return the MR damaged you will be charged at checkout. I've had mine close to a year and use it 3-5 hours a day and they'll all still perfect. Johnnyt

Brian,

Try putting your Magic Rack in your freezer for a couple of hours. That will harden the adhesives to the point that they will no longer adhere properly.

Magic Ball Racks

The protective film.

On the first clear ones, the film came off easily - a little tape (masking or whatever) and it pulls right off.

The Black ones have a MUCH harder film to remove. m Still use tape. Put over one of the holes and pull upward. After a couple of times, the film will become loose and you can grab it and remove.

FYI - The newest Black racks will NOT have the film any more.
They should be available in 2-3 weeks.

PS: If you need some (in quantity, email markg@playcsipool.com)

I got my 8 and 9/10-ball racks yesterday from Seyberts. It's black and appears to have a film on it.

According to the MBR web site:

Why does the rack come with a protective film over both sides?
The rack comes with a film to protect the rack in the manufacturing process; this film is to be removed when being used. The easiest way to remove the film is with a small strip of cello tape; just rub the tape on a corner of the rack and lift. This will pull up the protective layer, please remember to do this on both sides.

Is there an easier way to remove the clear film? Yesterday and today, I tried removing the clear film with clear packing tape and wasn't successful. Is there an easier way to remove the clear film from the rack?

In Mark's posting, he mentioned that the newer Magic Racks won't have the film on it. Is it possible that I have this newer version but don't know it?

Also, when you lay the Magic Rack on the pool table, does it matter which side is face down? How do you remove the "warpage" in the Magic Rack?

Look closely t the words printed on your MR, if they have a vague blue tint to them, then you have the film on them. When you place the rack on the table, you should be able to read the labels. The "warpage" will come out when you use it, as. The static pressure on the rack will keep it in place..

I've been using the Magic Rack 9 and 10 ball racks for 8 months now (the clear ones). We just got the 8-ball version today, and there was a blue film on it (which we didn't have much trouble removing). However, in reading the website, it said that the rack had protective film on BOTH sides (this info is on both the Magic Rack website and Seyberts where we ordered it from). My girlfriend and I spent the last hour desperately trying to scrape off a layer of film which it sounds like isn't even there... Have we hopelessly destroyed our new rack? We've put a couple of decent size scratches at a couple of the corners trying to turn up a film. Any way to fix this short of getting a replacement?

As for the guy who makes these things, they're a great product and I couldn't be happier with them, but I'd offer that you should update your website (and notify dealers) so that this misinformation about film on both sides of the rack can be corrected, less some poor soul make the same mistake I've made.

Are the newest black racks out yet? I haven't seen any black racks being used in recent tournaments. The clear 1st generation MR was very good. I think the reason they made the 2nd generation black one is because the 1st clear one doesn't wear out. I think they screwed the whole thing up trying to get more sales and making the black one too flimsy. Johnnyt

Magic Rack alignment

A simple solution to a misaligned rack is to put a small ink dot on the table in the middle of the rear hole of the MBR, the the rack IS in perfect alignment.!

Hey, johnnyt

Me and Mark's been watching and the couple re-rack was requested due to rack being sat crooked. Impersonally haven't heard anyone complain about Magic Ball Rack being not tight.
