I think they mean that THIS SEASON, Bonus Ball should have scheduled around these events.

Next season, if there is one for Bonus Ball, all promoters can figure it out and work around each other. That is a different story altogether.

Bonus Ball stepped on everybody's toes by changing their start dates over and over again, and now they step on Greg Sullivan's Southern Classic. That is what seems to be sticking in everybody's craw.

From what I've been reading, it seems this will likely be the best field he's had in years, is there any chance he would 'blame' that on Bonus Ball too?

No Jennie I did not, my children are in Phoenix.

Oh, I'm sorry. I did not know. I just remember how much you enjoyed being with your girlfriend and your babies, how you moved to Arizona, of all places, from New York. Quite a geographical change, I'm sure!

I guess by now you're used to that heat that Vegas offers. Couldn't pay me to live in Vegas and bake in the sun like a lizard, but that's me. Instead, I get to sweat a tornado coming my way.

Aw, Lenny. :(

If this works maybe the promoters can reschedule the events during the off time for the players benefit, that would be great. I do not believe there was malice involved in the scheduling but like I said I am just a cameraman and forum member. :o

Born in the USA too, as Bruce would say.

Professional players don't NEED to play on a weekend. Side story: last year during our Canadian championships I made a suggestion that the open events (pros) play during the week and the amateur event (played tues-Friday last year) be played on a weekend as the majority of the players have jobs.

Standalone tournaments (NOT BCA) would probably save money by booking their event Mon-Thurs instead of Thurs-Sun. If Greg, Allen Hopkins, Mike Zuglan all got together and discussed this option, then went to Bonus Ball and said 'hey homeboys, were going to move our events to mon-thurs next year, any chance for the following weeks you guys could play mon-weds so we can all have the worlds best'.......

What would the reply of Bonus Ball and Co be?

Phoenix and Vegas are just a 5 hour drive so no biggie and only a 45 minute or so flight. When life hands you lemons just peel them and see what you can extract.

Pretty Funny!!!!

But, marketing and advertising has been hurt and attendance!!!! People decide to attend based on player ATTENDANCE. Its pretty hard to plan and decide to attend when you do not know if 36 top players will be in attendance!!!!!!!!!!!!

So, now that I made the real POINT of all this. How do you think ATTENDANCE affects the promoters ability to FUND the events that pay the players???? Lets see??? Room nights might have something to do with it?? Vendor support might have something to do with it???? All of these require Fan support to fund PLAYER payouts!!!!! Advertising revenue and food sales, you think.

Did you see the list of players attending that Darren posted?

Do you think the roster last year was better than this year?

If you answer yes and then yes again, MAYBE someone would think your other arbitrary questions make sense. If you answer yes and then no, your questions make you look like an idiot and you should call Greg Sullivan yourself to tell him to thank Larry, Nathan, Dave, Lenny, etc.

If I was going to a tournament, I would rather see Efren than Scott Frost or Busti instead of Hunter Lombardo.

Most that have never run an event don't understand anything from behind the scenes. That's been proven over and over here.
Especially those around 30 and under that have never seen anything much in the pool world, and probably never will since there's no young life in the game nowadays and none coming anytime soon.

They been duped by the word CHANGE, since say 2008.

As a fan, do you think the players OWE YOU something? Do they have to attend this event? Do they have to spend 1000-2000 dollars for a hotel to stay there two weeks? Do they have to be running on no sleep to play in all the events? Do they have to commit their summer to playing a newer, non world ranking event? Do they have to lose money by missing 'work' and be further stuck in a hole with expenses to better your enjoyment?

Greg making the offer to the MAIN Bonus Ball players is ridiculous. If Darren Appleton or Mika Immonen or Ralf Souquet want to play in ANY tournament in the world at a 50/50 cut, I'll gladly stake them forever if they're footing the tab on their travel, hotel and food. FOREVER!

I agree, pool has had its failure in not promoting youth players into the game for its future. Children play basketball, soccer, baseball, football and all types of sports and games but pool is toward the end of the list. I think the longevity is in the youth, new blood and money.

Theres the problem #1.
There is no youth in todays game, nor any coming. 20 years ago the pool rooms were packed with kids playing, wanting to get better.
Now they stay in the house, play on PCs, xboxs, etc. There will never be youth like there was in the game

Why are there youth interested in the other games? It is money and grooming plain and simple. Kids are easily drawn so with some motivation towards the games and the prospect of making a good living it is possible but in billiards it was overlooked. Pocket billiards still has a chance overseas money wise because of the lack of competition with big sports that we have here which pool has no shot against.

Absolutely they do.
But your thinking like they do. Just like my GF use to think. Maybe that's why they have and will never get the real sponsors, they think they owe no one anything and everythings owed to them. They are way wrong.

Don't worry, I've fought this argument with my girlfriend forever, she finally realized it. She did play on the WPBA for about 10 years before quitting that to work a real job, like many others. Hell thers 10-15 girls I could name now that would drill any girl ranked under #16 on the WPBA. And that tour my friend was better off then any mens tour has ever been when she played. Now its a train wreck as well, why, because of whos running it. The same ones that ran the mens tours into the ground.

I don't doubt that. Pool overseas could work. But in North America it WILL NEVER work. It will be what it is. A league game for AMATEURS.

PROS, need to move overseas or get a job, welcome to the real world young pros under 35. Better hit them books before its to late.

There's absolutely nothing anyone can do in this North America to make PRO Billiards a success. Sorry to say that, as I have plenty of people I know trying to make it out there and plenty that have lived and stayed with me, but I'm calling it like it is. It is DEAD.

Thanks for posting your feelings on the situation from the viewpoint of an actual player. I know many players are not on the forums or just post on Facebook, others are scared to say anything because they are scared of repercussions about possibly not being able to play in events or being on the blacklist. That kind of thing is pool politics and truly bad business.

Thanks pal

Like I said it only affects around 8-12 players.. Lot of guys are going to play. And some wouldn't go anyway because too expensive for them..

Actually I staked one of the players myself along with someone else.

Karl Boyes flying from uk to play ultimate 10ball but going home after because he doesn't play banks and one pocket..

However Chris Melling will play all events and he will be the man to beat on 10ft table esp if his break works, along with Jayson shaw

They got much better field than last year so I not sure why all this hatred ..

I invested alot of money into bonus ball my appartment 5months now furniture I buy plus my car etc.. I want my team to make the play offs and with a chance to win championship and make over 200k between us it's very possible.. Plus I love the game and am very passionate about it all :-) IMO its the best game I ever played .

For the record jam I wrote the post and my gf edited it for me lol .. Like I said School wasn't for me maybe my boxing years catching up with me now lol
