Jam,
I think you can see I'm on your side on the scheduling issue. Did I misread Dave's response? It looks like they made some minor scheduling changes over the next couple weeks to try to accommodate some players. That is for Greg's event (Southern Classic), isn't it? I see it isn't completely shut down for the 10 day event, but a little scheduling changes is probably helping some of the players to attend.

The dates for the Ultimate tournament is June 16 (Sunday) through June 20 (Thursday).

Greg's tournament begins June 21st (Friday). No mention of any adjustment of the schedule for Greg Sullivan's Southern Classic. Only for players to return on Thursday, June 20th.

Is that what you mean?

I have been in the pool racket, And BB is the best opportunity for a real Pro Tour , Albeit, a team tour. Which in fact, I think , has been a long time coming. There has been no Pro Tour in years. Only a very small % of players can make a profit in any event.
Pool has needed something new for Decades! I have played and gambled all over the country, Because if you don't gamble being a pool player, Good luck with paying your expenses. I think it is an opportunity. Pro Pool has had very few of these.
How can you come on here and not wish the best for the new game? So far the only complaints I have heard are on this forum. I know a lot of BB players personaly. I have played agains't them in tournaments and for the cash.
On facebook all i read about is positive from the players. AZ forums is where this changes, So many so called pool lovers wanting a new venture to fail. What a laugh you are. Pool has had 0 future since i can remember.
As far as my credentials, I played Keith twice in Phoenix in the 1980's and busted him both times. As Keiths wife how can you not wish the best for pool ? This is not to late to affect Keith, He may be invited to be on a team, I know i am getting a little fired up over BB.
What has happened where BB has scheduled on top of Tunica. I , along with a lot of forum members wish this wouldn't have happened, It did and we have no control over this. I know it is none of my business. I enjoy BB and i plan on purchasing some of the matchups.
You can even wager a little on these, I will give everyone a free tip. Just 1. I like the teams with a little 1 Pocket knowledge. That's it. Good Luck, To all pool events.
Gary Lutman

Good luck to you on your future endeavors.

Once again. The field at the southern classic will be strong. Both attendance and stream viewings will be higher than bonus ball.

So how is this hurting Greg?

There is an event at the beginning of the Southern Classic called the Bigfoot Challenge. It is near and dear to both Greg and I that it be a successful tournament featuring all the best players. We have built this event over the course of the last four years into something very important for the top players to participate in. It's the foundation for a four city tour which has been in the planning stages for some time. We now have two stops, in Louisville at the DCC and in Tunica at the Sourthern Classic. The next two (if we decide to continue) will be in Atlantic City and Las Vegas.

Our intention is to continue to raise the prize fund (already $50,000 with 20K on top!), perhaps doubling it next year. Bonus Ball has thrown a monkey wrench into our plans with several of the top players choosing to withdraw from the Bigfoot Challenge and return to Vegas after the Ultimate Ten Ball ends. The Bigfoot is scheduled to start the day after the Ultimate ends, accommodating the players who are already there. Does this begin to make sense? I sure hope so. Without the top players participating, the Bigfoot loses a lot of its luster.

Now the question is, do we continue to hold this event (it will definitely take place in Tunica) or do we discontinue it for lack of interest by the players. Greg and I will confer on this after the Southern Classic ends. Truth be known, if a player choses only to play in the Bigfoot Challenge and then leaves Tunica, we would have no qualms about that. But to play in the Ultimate Ten Ball and then leave immediately after is a problem for us. Jam is right in that regard 100%.

I've been very curious watching Jennie type all this stuff about the Bonus Ball. I have understanding about the game, Bonus Ball, but I don't understand the politics behind it.

I know for a fact that Greg Sullivan tried to help those people that are running that Bonus Ball tournament, sent the tables down there for them to play on, free of charge for one year. The guy who is behind this bonus ball didn't even have the decency to contact him and let him know that they had made some other arrangements. So Greg spent his time, his money, and everything to try to do the right thing for this tour, and this is the kind of stuff that doesn't make any sense to me.

They know all the dates that Greg had for this event, and for the players having to choose where they're going to go when I seen on this Bonus Ball it's in a private building, there's 8 or 10 people probably total in the whole place, and it's totally absurd that they couldn't reschedule those matches until after the Southern Classic in Tunica.

It's lack of communication, totally lack of communication, totally disrespectful to Greg Sullivan. It's like taking his time and all his efforts that he has done for all the players and throwing it right in the trash can. I don't know who's behind all this, but I have an idea. If it was up to me, I would do something drastic that I didn't want to do, but I would have to do it. And some of the players involved, I call them my friends. But some of the other players that are involved, I could really give a rat's ass about.

Greg, I know has put on all these successful events for years, and he does it for the players and keeps getting more money to put back into the events and even sponsors, has people fly in, pays their room, pays entry fees for them. I know this for a fact. I'm totally appalled by it all, and I think the guy that runs or owns Bonus Ball needs to take the time to try to call Greg or get a hold of him and try to work something out so everybody can be happy. Come on, guys. Everybody's got to work together in this business! :)

Hey, Gary, I remember you beating me once, but I didn't know it was twice. I was giving you the 8 and the 9. Everybody has beat me somewhere along the line, but you always seem to pick your spots pretty good. I know back then, if we could have played day in and day out, which I know you wouldn't have, I would have busted you 7 out of 10 times. And I know I would have broke you playing even. I know we never did play even.

I wish you all the luck, Gary, on your comback trail, venturing back into the pool world. I was just curious. What kind of weight are you asking the players for now, seeing so it's 30 years later?

See ya'.

You gave me the 8 at Gerkfords after you won the Big tournament in Phoenix, I won. The night before you played left handed and I didn't, I won. Hope to see you playing again Keith, So do a lot of people that have never seen you play. It was my pleasure playing you, If I won or lost. Not many can say that. I agree with your assessment of our game. That is why we didn't play even !
Good Luck, Would love to see that side arm play again ! Gary

You are right JAM. I was a week off as I was reading this. So it looks like the schedule was tweaked a little for the Ultimate (and maybe the Bigfoot Challenge) only. But I do like that Dave is willing to come on here and speak to it in an open way more so than others.

No schedule change at all for Bigfoot. You need to look back at it again. Southern Classic is totally ignored by Bonus Ball, which is what is so offensive.

What I find totally hard to believe, everyone against Bonus Ball is complaining because of the 36 people playing Bonus Ball instead of making it to the Southern Classic. Are you really telling me this industry is going to collapse because of 36 freakin people? Really?

Yes, I know it's a points thing and having some of the bigger names attend draw more of a crowd but not having 36 people attend is not going to force a shutdown of the event. There are many prop level speed players that can fill those slots.

I
Think about it. Purple and orange balls. I mean, I love pool, but you couldn't pay me to sit there and watch people playing that game. As a recreational player, I'd be more interested in 8-ball, but that's water under the bridge now.

That sounds a lot like striped and solid balls..wtf?

You need to read this thread more thoroughly. It may help to shed some light on why the scheduling conflict of Bonus Ball is outrageously offensive.

I have read them...all of them. Again, everyone is complaining about the Southern Classic potential failure because 36 of 60 Bonus Ball players won't make it. What did I miss? They are getting a for sure paycheck. Something NO tournament can or will offer. They have a steady paying job doing what they love

No, they're doing what they're told on the threat of loss of points, income, et cetera.

It is affecting already-existing tournaments on AMERICAN soil produced by valued AMERICAN promoters. The Canadian firm Bonus Ball doesn't give a damn who they're stepping on.

Meanwhile, the owner has not idea what his minions are doing to destroy the Bonus Ball empire.

So you're saying you hate Canadians?

So you're saying you hate Canadians?

"Hate" is a strong word.

I don't care for Canadians who come on American soil and disrupt a fragile American pool industry.

And the game is stupid.

The players are being paid to perform like Dancing Monkeys on an empty stage. It's quite sad, really.

I'd love for you to meet the Canadians coming to American soil. I'd gladly give the shirt off my back to either of the ones associated with production of Bonus Ball and I know both of them have enough self respect and class to not work for someone who is an idiot with a secret agenda.

Well, you've got it backwards, unfortunately.

I guess time will tell on that one. Keep on bashing them until the season is over.

I'm sure your one voice (who has NOTHING to do with pool or tournaments or diamond billiard products or anything else associated with pool) will make a big difference in any decision made on the future of bonus ball.

Your man friend WAS a pool player, he probably gave it up because he was tired of being broke.
