"Boston Burglary"

If he came on here and said, "Hey all, I'm suffering from X disease and I'm not dealing with it well and sometimes I lash out" or "I'm fighting with my ex-wife over custody of our kids and I'm grumpy about it" and it was believable, I would cease all mention of Gremlin's name and wish him well.

Oh, c'mon now....you know that's not how it's done around here. He would have been kicked while he was down and there would have been a group "lizard draining" on his prone body while he was out. Only the strong survive....

Maybe not, but if it was a good story and believable, I would not take part in the pissfest. I still have a little compassion left and not totally jaded yet...

I do have to ask the question...has anyone here making comments understand how thick of a bankroll $34,000 is?? If someone in the room took that kind of cash they would be walking with a serious limp and large bulge in their pocket.

Hey Bozo, that's only 34 red Canadian thousand dollar bills. I had 75 of them in my pocket at one time and you couldn't tell. There was a larger lump between my pockets.

Wow, you are old. These $1000 bills are from the 1954 series of bills. They were not part of the 1967-79 series. They are no longer issued, and the Bank of Canada is actively removing them from circulation.

In other words they are no good anymore. You may send them to me for disposal.

Dave, who had an uncle with an interesting job at the Bank or Canada that included disposing of decrepit bills, apparently at the rate of about $7M per business day, iirc !

This now has topped my list as the dumbest post ever by a member on AZBilliards. Congrats Donnie.

Setting up new user names after being booted off the forums is also a good way to get booted again.

Just an FYI.

It's obvious from this thread and past booting that staing the "truth" is way more offensive than other disgusting behavior and vulgar language.

Just don't challenge one of the "establishment".

The house man at the pool room was deemed as "goofy" by both players. So, instead of giving the house man the post, the players put the post consisting of 34 dimes in an envelope and placed it underneath the pool table that they were playing on.

The THIRD set, Little John and Tony Ruberto battle it out for 8 hours. At one point during the match, Tony Ruberto is on the hill of the ahead set. Liljohn never gives up, and after 8 hours, he gets back to even.

It was at this point when Liljohn got to even that he decides to take a rest room break. Liljohn's friend Lilrob was sleeping on and off in his chair during the THIRD and lengthy 8-hour set due to lack of sleep. When Liljohn returned from the rest room break, he notices that the envelope with the post is not underneath the table. This is when all hell broke loose.

Getting back on topic and going back to page 3 of this thread,my vote for "BOSTON BURGLER" goes to "GOOFY"(sweep broom and garbage can...after hours cleanup). :D
For all of you unfamiliar with Beantown (I lived in the area two years) most places that serve booze in the Boston area are owned by ex-cops so there really was no reason for the LOCALS not to call the cops.
Having been to Brighton Billiards and having played on the crappiest table I've ever experienced there.....why would anybody play for that much money in that dump?

Also being from the Boston area, but not having played at Brighton Billiards, I don't know if they have the crappiest tables. I doubt it, as they have a reputation of having the best players playing out of there and the busiest action. You can go down to Jillian's near Fenway Park and find your nice place, psuedo night club; Brighton Billiards is a pool room, long live the pool rooms.

Hi
In defense of Brighton Billiards, they do not serve alcohol so they tend to have a much younger crowd. They tend to be relegated to the back tables, which at one point looked like someone had sprayed them (the tables not the younger crowd) with buckshot. The front tables were taken care of better. The "Boston Burglary" occurred after the one pocket HOF induction for Shorty so everything was like new. Yes it is basically a no frills pool hall but it is far from a dump in MY opinion. You can't really blame the place where it happened over the people that actually committed the crime.
Paul
PS Yes I play there a lot and that's why I got slightly offended and THANK GOD I was nowhere around when this crap happened.

Paul, what is the "word on the street" there about what happened and who was in on it? Is it rumored that Ruberto and/or his stakehorses were in on it?

Thanks, Doc

I think it's the same word from the beginning...."mum" is the word.

Boston

I will be in Boston this time next week for a one night stopover. Any suggestions about where to go (or not go)?

I play in the suburbs but when I'm in town I like to play at Boston Billiards on Brookline Ave. It's a stones throw from Fenway Park so maybe you could take in a Sox game too.

I can only base my opinion on my one visit there in 92! ....Front table..a rail bolt falls on floor halfway through play...inspection shows multiple loose rail bolts...multiple dead spots on cushions...loose cloth on play area... loose cloth on one cushion.Only good thing was they discounted our table time.Who is their table mech? GOOFY?
