I am asked occasionally to post pictures of some of my box cues, and am starting this thread to share a few of my favorites. Box cues have been my favorite design for a whole lot of years, and I have had them in my arsenal since about 1972-3. Like rabbits, they keep multiplying and now I have quite a few.
I encourage others who wish to share their pictures to join the thread.
I took some of these pictures on an antique miniature pool table that was made during Prohibition. Pool rooms were forced to close down during Prohibition (in Texas and elsewhere), and these tables surfaced in order to get around prevailing laws.
The cues on the table L to R are: Josswest, Josswest (Stroud`s personal player), Josswest, DP Kersenbrock , Gus Szamboti, Ginacue (the FIRST box cue ever made, in 1969 for Eddie Kelly), Barry Szamboti (monster hit), Gus Szamboti, Josswest (made in 1972 for Richie Florence), Joss (made for Jim Rempe circa 1970).
The Santa Fe picture was taken by John Barton at the ICCS show last year, when these cues were laying on the table next to my cues on display.
My next post following this shows my daily playing cue, a Searing box cue, the only one made to date. And yes, the hit is EVERYTHING that one expects it to be............ I would not let it go for anything else.
