boys dressing badly

I actually won the Minnetonka city championship in cut-off jean shorts and a deadstroke shirt.:happydance:

Justin, I am curious to where you pulled this city out of. I am curious to where they would hold the tourney, since there is not a pool room 15 miles from Minnetonka.

Well obviously there is no support for a pool room in Minnetonka if the city champion rocks cut offs and a Dead Stoke Tshirt. Now if you were to wear some nice slacks and a custom polo some huge corporation would probably build a billiard training center right downtown.

:D

I have no idea where I got the idea for that city. The voices tell me weird stuff.

A while back i played in a bar table tournament at a Hotel with 120 tables and lots of players and spectators. It was on a Friday and located near my work so my boss came over to watch. After a while he said it looked like a trailer park white white trash convention by the way people were dressed.
Now I'm from a generation that if you are going out in public you look good.

Quite Correct

This is why our sport does not grow and why teenagers are not playing. Imagine your bosses response to his son or daughter if they asked to go play pool!!!

I have no problem playing pool in a button-up and dress shoes, so if I go straight to pool after work it is no big deal.

But.. playing nearly always at a bar, that means my work clothes get chalk on them and so on. Ever rip a pocket by getting it caught on the corner of a valley? I just woke up, threw on a pair of jeans, sneakers and a shirt (it has a collar.. the tees I like are dirty apparently). I've got no plans to dress up to go to my local bar and knock around some balls.

That being said, I do kind of like it when I look good and play well. Nothing as smooth and dishing out a whoopin' while looking good.

I honestly do not see a Problem with Requiring a DRESS CODE with in reason to play Pool in a tourny, hell many business have strict Dress Codes for their employee because they want to project an image to their clients.

How many THREADS have we had on AZB about why Pool get no sponsorship, and the pro player are struggling?

Maybe a Dress code would help the cause.

I have been subjected to dress code most of my life, in Elementary School, in Jr. High, in High School, in the Military, when I worked for other people most had dress codes.

When I had my own business I always tried to look neat, clean, event thought I work Jean, tennis Shoes, and Hawaiian Shirts mostly. They were not Rag, and when they got frayed, or worn looking the item were replaced.

is there any sport other than pool -- individual or team -- where the players dress so slovenly?

Yes, Beer Pong:

Actually, with most of the pro tournaments I see on streams or on TV the players are dressed pretty well and I believe most have dress codes. Especially since players are wearing sponsors logos they dress appropriately.

As far as streams go, I don't think you can consider all the local and smaller tournaments that are streamed on the internet in the same category as a professional tournament. Most people probably don't even consider that they may wind up on an internet stream when they enter the local events. They're just dressing comfortably in the clothes they normally play in, including shorts, t-shirts, and backwards baseball caps.
