Brand new dennis searing golden cue

I'm just trying to count here and I've tried every way I know how, where is there 400 inlays?
Stunning cue,but I agree if there's 400 inlays they must be those new clear inlays, so clear you can't even see them:thumbup:

inlays

i misunderstood dennis there are around 380 inlays every border counts as a inlay every dot ivory ring work with bordered gold all the gold that borders the inlay is a actuall inlay itself so yea theres that many including the joint protectors and even the searing spelled out in gold is a inlay and yes the bb is outstanding and has alot of inlays and is a beautiful pieace but i like mine a little more just my opinion just wanted to share the cue with everyone that admires cues especially from master cue makeers like dennis and szamboti and tony etc, thanks even the engraving in the butt cap is inlayed lol anyways i hope u enjoy the pics.

and im not sure i posted all the pics but if u count all the inlays and gold inlays and the inlayed ring work and gold bordered inlays on those and the joint caps their is about 380 or so dennis does everything seperate so he did the inlay first thin inlayed the gold then inlayed the ebony and then the gold listen regardless its a beautiful cue and i love it and i hope u enjoy the pics thanks

There are hundreds of inlays in this cue and hundreds of hours put into it. This cue is as serious as it gets and there isn't one cue maker on the planet that could replicate this work to the tolerances Dennis gets. I don't even want to tell anyone how much work Dennis has put into the joint protectors because its just frightening. Its more time than some makers put into whole cues.

Dennis will never get his money back on this cue or even the joint protectors but he does not let a small issue like paying the bills and the rent get in the way of the final product. For those that don't understand what this cues about, I am willing to discuss the finer points of cue construction with them, for those that do....enjoy the pictures of this top tier cue and hope Dennis will make you one.

Big cue Sean, you are right to be proud. Now sell me it.

Si

It can't get any better than this....

As Si said, there isn't a person on the planet that has tighter tolerances tahn this. This is the grail.

<-- will make payments. ;)

This cue is Dennis at his best. Dennis has compensated you very generously. Thanks for sharing.

There should definately be a thread on what constitues an inlay and how to count them... separate from this thread. Let Sean enjoy his cue, he deserves it.

# of inlays/.005" endmills

First thank you all for the really nice compliments!!
I'm honored that I got to build a cue that in return would help some one in my family in a serious time the way it did. Thank you Sean!
I'm not an inlay counter. I design a cue in a way that makes me feel it flows, so what ever inlays go into a cue to create that feel, or look in my mind is what I do. It doesn't matter if it's 700 inlays, or 8. Sometimes I feel it's what you don't do that can make a cue special. If I was going to count inlays like on this cue, I would count for instance one of the gold bordered dashes as two inlays because there's two separate pieces. There's a pocket cut for the gold, and a pocket cut into the gold for the ivory. With that in mind, there's 243 inlays in the cue. I'm also including the "searing" logo because each letter is an individual part cut from gold plate, and a .0055" pocket cut for each one.
Regarding the use of .005" bits to do the inlay work, I'm afraid it was made to sound like I said no one else used, or does use a .005" bit. That's not what I meant, or said. I was asked if any one else used the .005" bits I used to do much of the inlay work in the cue, and my answer was that I didn't think so, at least not yet. The only reason I said I didn't think so is because the particular bits I'm using I had custom made for me to cut deeper than any other .005" bit I've seen available. I think there are a number of cue makers on here that know I will help another maker if I can, and have many many times. They also know that it's not my style to speak negative of fellow cue makers. Please except my apology if it sounded that way. Every one trying to make cues with care has my respect.

Thanks again for the compliments, it makes the effort we all put into a cue worth while!

Dennis

I remember seeing this cue back in march at the Super Billiards Expo. If Dennis had not pointed out the gold inlays, you would not be able to tell at first glance. He also said that the center of the Ivory piece from the buttcap is used for the joint. Very nice cue...

Not Me I don't know who's it is.

Ron obviously not I think we all know who that bb belongs too lol and I'm not in the 25,000+ cue market either and that's the only reason why it's not mine

I must say it's a matter of opinion, the searing is def a knock out congrats to the new owner. But with all this chit chat I don't think anyone can give Tony at BB a run for his money. Just saying And as stated it's a matter of opinion

I would def love to own this searing it's a gem and def a great cue maker in my eyes

I don't have a clue? I guess Tickler? But I don't care for it,I think it looks GIRLIE with all the flowers and I think Dennis Searings is MUCH MORE BEAUTIFUL, But that is me! I don't care for real fancy showpieces! I enjoy playin with em! And I bet this one PLAYS GREAT! If I sold my Szamboti's I could BUY it but like I said I like the plain ones! Gus Szamboti, BarrySzamboti,Pete Tascarella and Dennis Searing are my Favorites, I guess that is why I BUY them! The Searing I got from Marcus last week is FANCY for me! To each his own. Ron<---not a counter of inlays and LOVES Altons CAPS!!!!!!!!!!!

Dennis and Tony are both great cuemakers but have different styles. Both are nice guys and both very passionate about their work. For my money i like them both. Dennis built this cue for Sean with his heart into it for sure. Beautiful cue and hope you enjoy it Sean.
