Break shot practice

Hey Dennis,

Looks like you were having one of my bad days!!!!

Times like this you wish you had an Auto-Racker like on a bowling alley!!!!

You certainly can do better!

Steve

BTW I Sent you an email

Happens to me. Miss easy shot 3 or 4 times in a row! Simple but can't find the line. Makes me want to quit altogether but then I take a little break, slow down, take a deep breath, focus on my follow through.. or somthing, switch to a one-stroke practice routine,... change something/anything to stop the bleeding.

Good for you telling on yourself!!

Hey Dennis. If you don't mind I'd like to suggest a few things.

The first thing I noticed is you are not pausing with your tip at the cue ball. IMO this is very important. You cannot get a good line of site while sawing wood on your practice strokes.

When you are paused at the CB position, use your imagination and see the stroke going through the OB and verify in your mind where the OB is going. Then a few more practice strokes and another pause to once again verify your line of aim is on.

Also, draw an imaginary line from your CB to the OB in your mind while you are stopped at the CB with your tip. See that line and cover it with the cue shaft when you actually do stroke through your shot.

Lastly, slow smooth acceleration through the shot. You are poking and stabbing pretty hard. Even if you did aim correctly to begin with, the odds you are following that same line you aimed on are slim.

Hope ya don't mind my input. :)

Marop saw it and was laughing so hard, I figured someone else might enjoy it.

By the way, I talked to your buddy Sailor today. He was in rehab for his foot for 2 months and just got out a few days ago. Says he is moving around ok. I may go up to see him in a couple of weeks. He has a couple of my butts and a Davis blank I may try to retrieve.

I was waiting for a trick shot. That was funny stuff. I threw my cue and stopped playing for a week just last week for that same shot. I under cut it 5 times in a row. I have this piece of crap cue tech until I get my cues. I can't play any side spin with it because of the throw.

I didn't expect that. That was funny. Thanks for sharing, sorry for laughing, but I know you are better than that and I thought that only happened to me.

I don't mind. My fundamentals are bad and it is a constant struggle to try to do what I know I should be doing. My body has a mind of its own and some times are worse than others.

Dennis,

It appears, at least on a couple of your attempts, that you're twisting your back hand to the right as your stroke. Perhaps a bit tense overall, remember a good stroke is a relaxed, crescendo movement. As we've discussed, keep your bridge formation, even the loop over your finger, solid and committed through the shot.

I don't believe I know you, so I don't think I'll be doing you any favors any time soon.

Thanks Dennis. I called him a couple weeks ago and he sounded good... glad to hear he's out. Give him a shout for me and tell him I'm thinking about him what with all the Lincoln birthday stuff going on.

Dennis,

Is there some sort of reflection from the lights, into the camera lens, or do you have little white dots positioned all over your table?

I was wondering the same thing.

HaHa

That's some funny stuff right there. Thank you. The funniest part was when you where finally able to double kiss it in, you scratched on the next shot. After each miss I could see you where getting a sense of urgency by racking faster each time. I do the same thing as I'm too stuborn to stop and take a break.

I know. Undercut by a mile first two then overcut a few times and it finally gets kissed in and I say what the hell, I'll take a shot and the sob kisses off a ball and glides into the side pocket. Not my day.
