Break Stick, Jump Stick and Extension

Can anybody share their suggestions on purchasing the best break stick, jump stick and cue extension from personal experiences.

IMHO...most players use a combo Break/Jump cue, (don't need a bigger case to hold single Break cue and Jump cue).
The best performance (over all-for both functions) is Predators Poison VX2.9 retail priced at $229.00. The best Break Cue is the new OB Break Cue, best Jump Cue is any of many that have a phenolic tip!

Regarding Extensions, I have not found any that I would recommend, not counting that they ARE usually too long to put in a case, or take too long to screw on the end of the cue.

I find that most league players lean towards jump-break cues, while most money players buy 2 specialty cues. Nothing against any jump/break cue, but there is a sacrifice made when you commit to one cue for 2 purposes. I know a ton of players who like break cues such as the Predator BK-1 and also like to use the jump cue, the Predator Air. As for production examples, I think those are most popular. Inexpensive jump cues like the Lucasi jump cues also perform extremely well.

Other than those, several top quality break cues and jump cues are made by custom cuemakers. Chilton makes a great jump cue.

As for an extension, the Tony Wynn cue extension works very well and will fit in most cue case long pouches. It has been copied by several other makers, but the concept is the same.

A good custom made jump/break cue will still perform admirably.

I have an Hager extension, 20" and like it very much. I did have to buy a new case with a 20" pocket to store it in. Tom

I like Special Tools for Special Jobs. I have designed & sold Break Cues & I play with one.

I particularly like the Predator Air Jump, because of the 2 different shaft length options.

For the Break/Jump, I recommend a Gulyassy SledgeHammer. Used mine for a couple years & I'll never go to anything else. As for the extension, the Hager is really good. Of course if you have the $$$, I've heard really great things about the DeRoo extenders, which are built right into the cue.

What I use:
- Andy Gilbert jump/break (with Samsara jump/break tip)
- Hagar extention (16")

I really like my purpleheart break shaft made by Mark Bear. I love my Stealth Jump Cue.
I break with a Rick Howard Mace Jump Break cue.

I have to go against the grain, here. I prefer separate break cue and jump cue.

I like to jump with a phenolic tip (very hard). But, prefer hard water buffalo for my break cue ... hard tip, but allows a degree of cue ball control.

As for the extention: I went to a vaccuum cleaner parts and repair place, and bought a vaccuum cleaner extention gizmo. Fits nicely over the end of my cue, stays in place with friction, cost me under $10.00, works like a champ.

Have you used a Samsara Jump Break? I bought on and it jumps and breaks GREAT.. I also have a OB break cue on the way should be here soon I hope. I am really wanting to see if it's any better..

That is why I purchased the Samsara J/B cue. IMO it jumps great and you also have QB control while breaking. All in one cue.

I bet that's a great combo that tip on a Gilber cue with a 3/8-10 pin.

I'm a gilber fan. (my custom being ordered in less than a week) I also have a Samsara JB-04 J/B

I used to have a R Howard with Mike Gulassy shafts. Loved it jumped and broke great..

Well after getting back into playing again I now have a Samsara JB-04. I have used it once (one night) So far I LIKE IT.. It jumps great, Breaks great and unlike most other jump break cues you still have some QB control.

As far as the extension I have never used one but I can tell you I know Hager. He does great work and stands by what he sells. There is a guy here that is a dealer for him look him up in the For Sale folder he had some cases and extensions for sale.
