I love Bustamante, and Efren too, I guess, but Bustie is one of my all-time favorite pool players to see in person. He's just plain funny all the time. He enjoys a good laugh

I was elated to read the front-page news this morning on AzBilliards that this Dynamic Duo defeated the Germans.

If you haven't read the front-page news yet, here's a snippet:

It would be hard to think of a more nerve-wracking, thrilling or tense major pool final as both teams had chances to win and both displayed their awesome skills as well as frailties under pressure.

It’s hard to be exact but there were upwards of 2,000 people watching from every possible angle and the atmosphere in the arena was charged from the start. In addition, millions more were viewing in homes, bars and clubs across the Philippines as the event was aired live in its entirety on Solar Sports and CS9.

You gotta admire Efren's enthusiasm I absolutely love this picture. :grin-square:

Wow, that picture says it all. Look at poor Ralf Souquet in the benched position, in white. :(

Okay, Cue Lovers. What cue is that in Efren's little paws? :)

AzBilliards Gold Star goes out to who can NAME THAT CUE!

If you check the thread "World Cup of Pool" there is a link to a page showing the match.

Click on 13/14 and watch the last rack, and you will laugh out loud when watching Efren's dance after he pockets the last 9-ball. Amazing.

You gotta love Efren :D

I'll try

Eeks, I don't know. :o

I was so excited to see Efren and Bustie win, and then I saw that plain-looking cue in Efren's hands.

I couldn't help but think that so many pool folk want to have ivory this, purple heart that, inlay this, curly maple that, and look at Efren's cue. It doesn't mean a thing what the cue looks like. It's all about the "hit."

It's all about the Indian Jenny, and not about the arrows!

The Break Cue was a Jesus "Jessie" Bundalian Blank. I would guess that the playing cue was also a Jessie Blank finished by Linds. When Linds has recovered, he can confirm this info.

Below was the Break Cue Efren was using which was posted by Linds on another forum.

I think that was Jessie's (RIP) work alright, yes another great Pinoy cuemaker
that bit the dust but this time, it's was by natural cause. I remember Jessie
when Lando "Boy" Vicente decided to set up a cue making shop in his house in
Cavite St. 9 or 10 years ago. Jessie use to go to my place to unwind after a day's
work and we'd play some while downing bottles upon bottles of San Mig Light.

Those were the days, haven't been back home yet, it's been 6 years and counting...

the joint of the cue in The Magician's arms is different (plastic rather than metal), and the butt looks different also. It's the same color/wood as the butt sleeve.

Or do you refer to his break cue only?

Ordinary? Won him World Championship. Maybe the right word is simple design cue. And that ordinary looking cue is now the worlds most expensive.

If you're in the L.A. area, both these guys should be at Hard Times tonight. They were due in today on their way to Galveston.

As far as pool goes....

you could say "it couldnt of happened to a couple nicer guys". I truly wish I would have got into pool sooner than I did just to of had a chance to see them live, in their prime...

Elway, Jordan, Reyes three guys I would like to shake hands with, maybe I could mooch some greatness

This game or video should be watched by players who would like to bring up their game.I've never seen any match that races to 11 with so many so many so many so many safeties.I watched the replay and probably will watch it again.I think i learned a lot from this game.I probably won't hit the ball the way they did but at least i have an idea how to execute the safety shot.I am not referring just Bustie and Efren here but also the Germans Ralf and Thorsten.I think the experienced players(Germans) was defeated by more experienced players(Philippines).

BTW,i am trying to figure out, after Bustie and Efren who will be the next Philippine team could win the title.

Alcano and Orcollo?
Alex Pagulayan and Van Corteza?
Kiamco and Luat?
