Travis Trotter. Where do I begin?
Born in Chicago, he grew up playing against the likes of Bugs Rucker and Freddy the Beard. He was feared throughout Chicago and the country for his hard hustle tactics, and just generally never missing a ball.
In the 70's when Buddy Hall was busting everyone on the bar table, there was one player that he couldn't fade and that was Travis Trotter. Why isn't THAT in the history books you say? Because Travis Trotter ordered it that way so he wouldn't hurt future action.
Later, when McCready was a West Coast monster wearing a T-Shirt saying "The World Gets the 8 ball", Travis wore a shirt that said, "Keith McCready gets the 8 and the Breaks".
Travis travelled the country with a beautiful Balabushka cue, Fellini case..speeding along the lonely highways in a Corvette Convertible with a beautiful woman or women always at his side.
In 1989 when Nick Varner was winning everything in sight, Travis offered him the 7 and Nick declined stating, "Travis, you know I need more than the 7." Nick later asked, "Travis, why don't you play in tournaments? You could be on T.V. winning everything like I have been." Travis replied, "If I wanted a tin cup I would buy one. CASH is where its at." Travis and his partner Fast Larry Gunninger then looked at each other and laughed a knowing laugh. Oh, what a pair those two were.
I remember hearing the story of Travis and Ronnie Allen playing. They started playing even one pocket and Ronnie soon knew he was in deep trouble. He offered to play him one handed. That too was a losing proposition. Before it was over, Ronnie was playing with both hands and Travis was playing with a plunger. Ronnie quit busted.
In the 1990s a young Johnny Archer was on the annihilating the competition. Travis played him for three days and nights, a race to 1000. Johnny won 7 games.
Yep, old Travis has long been a retired hustler from this game we all love so much. He did discover cuetec cues and found a real love for them. He sold his Bushka to Cornerstone and bought several Allison Fisher model cuetecs, and enjoys puttering around in his basement playing on his SEARS 8 foot pool table, and typing in to AZ.....but please......for those that don't know...NEVER discount the contributions this legendary hustler made to pool. The most amazing part is how he managed to keep his name unknown to the likes of us.
But I challenge you. At your next big event pull Buddy Hall aside and quietly ask him, "Buddy, can you tell me about Travis Trotter." I suspect Buddy will get a dead serious look on his face, and perhaps a tear might even form in the corner of his eye and he will silently respond, "I never want to hear that name again."
Please count your lucky stars that Travis even takes the time to contribute to this forum.

I found out who Travis really is!
He's that guy in those Dos Equis beer ads of late - "The Most Interesting Man In The World".
That ad where he makes an impossible (really!) four-ball shot while shooting over some women - if you look REALLY close, you'll see that the cue is a CueTec!

This has all been hush-hush for too long now. Here's the scoop from some research I was able to cull from assorted sources....
Rumor has it that his dad is the Chief Engineer & designer over at Cuetec.
(Although, truth be told, Travis's woodshop teacher DID have lend considerable knowledge)
Travis's mom is the Secretary / Treasurer and processes all the orders. She also is in charge of keeping the laboratory clean and in tip-top shape.
Travis's grandpap was the lumberjack who went into the fiberglass business after he helped invent a fiberglass axe and fiberglass tomahawk.
(He is currently hard at work on making a fiberglass ferrule, tip and a customized fiberglass CueTec carrying case. Rumor has it that it will even have a fiberglass zipper so air doesn't get in)
Travis, the great, great great grand nephew of Alexander Graham Trotter, is working on getting all the underground fiber optics from the telephone companies changed into the same fiberglass that put CueTec on the map in Greenland.
Travis also recently sent a letter to the U.S. Department of Defence stating that he would like to prove the indestructableness of the CueTec cue by requesting one be "GorillaGlued" to the tip of the next Trident Missile that's fired from a submarine. He GUARANTEED that even though the missile would obliterate it's target, the tip would NOT come off the attached CueTec cue. He could not guarantee if the shaft would warp or not, but he said as long as it was still within 7/100's of an inch level either way, it would still be well within company specs.

Personally, I've always enjoyed Travis's posts. He's funny and innocent in his humor. He annonces his own birthday a few days in advance, has a soft & caring side, as evidenced in his announcing the deaths of such luminaries as Ruth Bell Graham to the horse Barbaro, & he's proud that he "shot a good game of 9 ball today." And with all the flack some people give him, I've never seen him respond in an abusive manner.
Whoever it is posting under the name "Travis Trotter" has a good sense of humor to play along as long as he has. :smile:

It ain't completely self-depricating. I have heard a few tales of similar strikes on others but...
