Can You Beat Yu Ram Cha???????????

I'm wondering how many of you folks figure you play better than Yu Ram Cha (or Jasmine Ouscan for that matter)? I don't mean beat her once in a short race, I mean consistently beat her because you play better?

A year ago I was watching a stream from the Derby where Jeanette Lee was playing (and beating) a male player that I judged to play better than me. I was on the phone with a guy (that was also on the stream) who plays about even with me and he was commenting on the fact that he would destroy her. I was wondering if we were both watching the same thing.

So I realize that that answers to this question might be a bit skewed by ego, or male ego, or whatever, and I'm not sure there's an accurate way (is there?) of judging speed with actually matching up for a few days, but:

Who here feels that play stronger than a top tier women's 9 ball pro?

Thanks

Kevin

I couldnt beat her in a long race even. I got the last 3, and 4 games on the wire going to 8 from a pro. Battled all night and ended up 1 set loser.

I cannot beat Yu Ram Cha nor any other top tier woman player, but I wouldn't be suprised if you get a LOT of posters who say they can ;).

Hell, I had a hard time beating BrighamYoungEinstein in our local tourney last hight !!!

I would be very confident betting LARGE amounts of money against 90% of the posters on AZB if they were matched up with Kelly Fisher.

Hell, I'd probably go to 95%

To express that in better numbers let's say that there are 1000 ACTIVE posters on AZB. I'd bet against 950 of them playing Kelly even.

Now, I don't think that Yu Ram or Jasmin are as good as Kelly is. But I'd still bet that they can beat 90% of the field here on AZB.

Dont think that was the question though...Do you think you could beat her in a long set?

My house my table. It's table tennis and the winner and the loser have to stay the night.

Don't tell me they play for the other team; I don't care.

Don't tell my wife either.

blah, blah. Same old song and dance. You kept crawfishing about letting Kelly play Brian White.

maybe if she dressed like a man

didn't she beat svb in the 2009 predator 10 ball?:p

I can beat her!

I can beat her like a rented mule on AZB. I might have a little more trouble on a pool table!

A computer increases pool speed by a factor of about three. Dozens of players on AZB that would have owned me during most of my pool playing prime. However even throwing out the few years I played my best pool I can count on the fingers of one hand the players that plain outclassed me that I ran into playing anybody anywhere I walked in the door after the first couple years I played pool. Not that there weren't a few players that could do it but I have never had a six pack or more put on me. The most I have ever seen live is a run from the other player's break and seven break and runs behind that. That was done by a total nobody, food for thought.

When we look at what we can put on the table 90-95% of the time, most player's speed drops a level or two. Human nature and the nature of competitors to remember our best and forget or dismiss our worst. When it comes to the lady players most men that have been playing for many years figure they can beat them. Many men can, the same men can lose to the ladies if they don't treat them with a great deal of respect. One thing I have noticed from watching mid-level ladies on up play, the ladies play smart, smarter than men on average I would say. Tossing in macho and aggressiveness while we know we should shoot the safety if the percentages fall more than 50% in favor of the safety in reality men probably play the safe after the odds move 60-40 or 75-25 in favor of the safety. We are loath to give up our time at the table and will find almost any reason not to. If the ladies are faced with a 50-50 shot or a lock up safety they don't think twice, they shoot the safety. It is easy to compare style rather than substance and underrate the lady's game.

My odds against the ladies are the same as my odds against a man of the same speed because I have competed with ladies enough at many things to know that sex is a poor reason to prejudge someone's performance. Any man that takes a lady lightly because she is a lady is likely to find themselves in a hole early and have the lid slammed on them before they find a way out.

About Cha, I'll try her at one pocket! :D

its over 95%

Corvette, the Kelly/Brian White matchup would be a good one I think. Right now I think Kelly would be the favorite though. She is playing great.

what would you expect?

She's a pro, and plays pool for a living. she has a coach, sponsorship, and all day to practice. I'd say 99.9% of the members here work for a living. I wouldn't expect many members to be able to compete.

If all things were equal, and any decent player were given the same amount of time and resources to develop their game, the percentage of members that could be competitive would be fairly high.

Nailed it, right there...

Only the top tier of pro in the US could beat her in 9 or 10 ball a race to 10. Next tier down would be even imo. There are a lot of the top women pros in the world that could hold there own with top men if they had a good mental gambling game. When I played every day and gambled I would bet my own against her on a BB. On a 9'...not so much. Johnnyt

I think you are giving her too much credit, but this is just all fun opinions :) Who is a next tier down, maybe i'm misunderstanding. Hillbilly has been posting here recently, is he next tier down? Guys like that would take her for sure for cash. I'd be happy to be corrected, i'm off all the time :)

The other thing is, a C player will beat most of these girls playing one pocket. That kinda irks me, but perhaps neither here nor there.
