Can you hold yourself back?

Do you always feel the need to shoot if there's an accessible table nearby?

The other night my g/f, some other friends of ours, and myself went to a local bar that has two valley tables. It was our friend Blake's 21st birthday and my g/f reminded me we were there to celebrate with him, not just to drink and definitely not there to shoot pool. Because of that, I knew I probably shouldn't immediately plop down quarters on the rail, but I couldn't help but critique everyone who was playing in the hopes of finding some action. Blake eventually said he wanted to play, so a few of us got up and went over to the tables, me relieved that I had an excuse to go play. :D Do you guys always feel the need to go shoot if there's a table around?

If there is a table wherever I am I feel the need to play. Its a sickness. I especially feel guilty about it when I'm in a strip club with friends and they are ogling and throwing money around and I'm playing some lowlife on the pool table. Is there a cure??. If there is I don't want it!!

My chick gets mad for the same reason. If theres a table around i have to pick up a stick and hit a few. Sometimes just to try it out and see how it plays. Other times just to shut some loud mouth drunks up. but i always have to hit a few.

As soon as we walk in and c a table she rolls her eyes.

Most of the time I cannot hold myself back. I will see the table and just wanna play one or two games but then there is always someone who puts their quarters up, which then turns into a line of quarters. My girlfriend just doesn't see how I could be totally content shooting game after game when we go out. It is especially hard for me right now since I have chosen to take a few weeks off to concentrate on school. (I'm already itching.lol.)

Sure

Sure I could hold myself back. I'm not really a problem pool player, it is just a social thing with me. I can quit any time I want to. Of course since I know this is true it would be silly not to enjoy all the pool I can whenever I feel like it, right?

It is difficult for me to resist an open table but I often do. A lot of people I hang around with don't know I play regularly. If I happen to be out with them, in a bar, and one of them proposes a game, I'll usually say, "Yeah, that looks like a fun game!" We'll get up and play and in no time at all, they're wondering if the devil owns my soul.

It's pretty funny sometimes.

After being a nurse at a major hospital for about 12 years I took a night-shift job in a assisted living home. This was the job I was going to use to ease me into retirement.

Well this place was like a fancy hotel. The residents had their own cars, and all were rich. There really wasn't anything to do that time of night. They had a billiard room with a nine-foot Brunswick in it. I use to bring my cue and play for about 6 of my 8 hour shift...until I got fired for it. I was probably wrong. I should have split the shift with 4 hours of pool and 4 hours of work. Johnnyt

AYE!

I can go to a night club that's playing music at 120db and I can still hear the pool ball clicking on the second floor without even knowing there is a pool table... where do you think I would be 5 minutes after I'll get my drink

I don't try to force my addiction upon others. I let who I'm with approach the pool subject. If they don't bring it up I can be content to just visit.

i feel your pain man. that same situation happened to me about a year ago

I went to a wedding for one of my best friends, they had a pretty decent table at the hotel during the reception. I think I spent 2 hours there shooting around with people. I don't remember much about the party, but I do remember that I did not loose one game (we played teams) at the table :-)

i could never understand why guys go to a "gentlemen's club" and play pool. this is one place where i have absolutely no attraction for the table.

I went to a party at a friend of my wifes house. I really did not know anyone, but they had a pool table. When I left, I only knew the people who played pool with me. Plus, none of them were really any good, so I kind of beat up on them all night. Fortunately, my wife just kind of laughed at me. I just couldn't help but play.

If there's a table around, I shoot:D I played 4 games at the APA tourney today, and about 30 tonight at the bar. I'll pay for it tomorrow.

Its like crack to me when I see a pool table.

Best place to find a lightly used barbox in good condition that isn't busy...
Maybe you've seen the 5 girls that work there 50 times and they are nothing more to you than tip magnets. You do find some that are nice that'll talk to you if you aren't tipping them. A lot of them like to play pool...
Of course I live in a podunk town with little to no action and a dive strip club on the outskirts of town. Haven't been there for a couple yrs, but the table had good felt on it and rolled straight.

Sh!it who knows, if you can make some money on the table youve got more to tip the girls with. If your good enough you could get laptdances for free all night.:)
