Captain America is playing for Team Korea. Seven Days Before Mosconi. LOL

It's funny how the AZ vote on CW is about 98% negative for being made captain, but the players (Archer and Appleton to name a few) think we're wrong and don't know CW like they do.

I'll tell you another thing players. Most of us get why you nut hug him. Johnnyt

Why does it have to be a nationalistic event anyway? Why not just have 16 invited teams and let the teams be paired up from any qualified male and female pro? Let the pros pick for themselves who they want to be their partner.

Make it a real competition with real top players all the way around.

Does anyone....ANYBODY know a person who might work at ESPN? This is a great sports story that when produced properly could garner a TON of attention.

HEADLINE: USA to face EURO's in Vegas in pool's biggest team event....USA team captain unavailable for comment as he is too busy playing for team Korea.

huh.....think people would ask questions?, and I don't mean on this forum!

I like the way you think, Gerry, but pool must take a back seat to football, baseball, golf, tennis, basketball, and hot dog eating contests on ESPN broadcast in America. :sorry:

thanx J....I just wish I could come up with a good answer?

Sometimes I wish I could forget when pool was awsome and I had to toss a coin to pick what events to go to on any given night. Now It's all "remember when" and back when I started out.....etc. There was a time when tons of people loved this game....we just have to figure out how to make them remember that.

Personally, and flame away purists.....I feel promoting money games and pro team/country events is the way to go. I like to root for my country, or state, or local pool room.

Charlie and Johny have an open invitation any time they would like to be a guest on a pod cast. justin and i think they would be great guests. hearing their sides to some of the internet storys. justin has stated that its a tool for the industry nd they are certinly in the industry...

No interest in hearing either of them.

Last time i heard JA speak, he was going off on a stream a while ago about Mosconi cup and how he was upset that Oscar was chosen and how Oscar was a nice guy and all, but he wasn't American and how he wanted and AMERICAN on the USA team, and how could they pick someone who wasn't American.

Of course, Oscar is American and JA sounded like a dufus.
Don't want to hear how he could possibly justify CW playing for Korea, and then being a part of team USA, and his take on the total conflict of interest that exists with everything they are doing right now, and pools future.

There is absolutely no way on this earth that JA could possibly express himself without butchering it in every way possible, and imploding.
And don't get me wrong. JA is a really nice guy, but speaking is not his strong point.

And then, who hasn't heard CW go off when he gets his hands on a microphone, for what seems like an ETERNITY.
Who wants to subject themselves to that crap?

No thank you. I'll pass.

Wow, if that is true that adds a whole new level of idiocy to this...

Is Johnny going off like that somewhere online?

Hear, hear, and a resounding tap, tap, tap! :clapping::clapping:

There is no question on if it is true or not. It happened.

No idea if that stream is archived or not.
Forget where or when it was, and who was streaming.
Just know it was PRE Oscar D. being on the USA team.

Maybe someone else can remember who was streaming, and the event.

But he DEFINITELY went off in the booth for a couple of minutes on Oscar not being American, and how he wanted an American on the team.

He got in the booth, and the guy in the booth asked him about Oscar as a choice, and he expressed his thoughts.

I want to say that it was maybe an AZBtv/Accu-Stats stream from Turning Stone????
I could swear it was Mike Howerton taking questions from the chat, and someone posting the Oscar question, but it's been so long for me to be absolutely sure.
But it definitely happened. Anyone in chat that day can tell you.

Yes, its true. I was on the chat, but don't remember the tournament. It was about a year ago or so. Many of the chat members were in disbelief that he was saying Oscar is not an American. I think the interviewers were able to see the chat, but they were ignoring the chat members who were going off about JA's comments.

Not bad for a Koren kid born in the USA.
In a span of 10 days he picks up a couple of easy checks.

The one thing you have to admit, CW can find the money. :D

Actually he was born in Korea. I'd say he is more of an American kid who was born in Korea.

Funny how the internet never forgets - stumbled across this following a link in another thread. Many of us miss Jim Meador and his contributions.

And remember ladies, Charlie is "single and very very available."

I'm not a fan of Charlies, but he did write that when he was 20. I think you can excuse a 20 yr old from writing he is very available, and that Loree Jones is a babe, etc. Now, if he were to write that today, I don't feel it would be a good PR move.

I just thought it was interesting that I stumbled on it when I was looking at something completely different and the last line struck me as funny in light of the discussions.

I always think it's a good PR move to write that Loree Jon is a babe. She is, even now. As is Eva and a lot of other top women players.

I just thought the whole piece was interesting and a little window into the past.

For what it's worth I have NOTHING against Charlie Williams. I feel that if whatever he did in a hotel room is worth making public then it should be worth prosecuting. If a person is not willing to go to the police then perhaps it shouldn't be made into a public spectacle because no matter what a majority of the "public" is ALWAYS ready to lynch a person based on accusation alone.

To me Charlie has always been cordial and nice. Then again I don't have any business with him and never have. I haven't been on the receiving end of threats to hold competing tournaments, haven't had to fade those threats made real. Haven't had to deal with Charlie's demands or the way he markets his tournaments. None of that affects me in the least.

It does upset me a little when my friends are affected. When Shanelle Lorraine is put on equal billing with Kelly Fisher it's a bit offensive. When Mark Griffin has to deal with the threat of a walkout hours before his pro event starts, when he has to deal with a competing event it's a bummer to hear that stuff.

I am on the player's side but the players haven't really done much to be effective since Charlie formed the UPA. Now it's unclear what the APB (is that right?) is even doing and what involvement Charlie has. I think Charlie got into the pool management game with the best of intentions to do right by the players and unfortunately that has not worked out too well for the majority of players. The UPA seems to have disappeared and Dragon Promotions seems to be the dominant vehicle that Charlie is using to provide income for the pros in his stable of players and select others that get invited to his events. My take on this is that this is sort of where things have landed for Charlie and the place he has made in the billiard industry by going his own way and doing deals that make sense for his company and his crew.

Most of us in the industry know that it's not easy to get anything done. This is an industry that is poor and ignorant. We are. Most of us come from pool backgrounds and we don't have deep pockets or deep contact lists to draw on. So on that score I applaud Charlie for getting some events on the calendar and providing some paydays for some of the players.

And as far as I know, which isn't very far, Charlie is still single and available. :-)

I see you have time to photoshop but you don't have time to ship my Showman Cues dvd?

I have no open and paid Store invoices for a Showman DVD. I do have two unpaid invoices which means someone started to order and for whatever reason payment was not made. Both of those non paid invoices were opened Nov. 26. Today is the 28th.

While I would love to help you I dont have a clue who you are, what you may have ordered. I do know I don't have any money for anything. Something else I know is you claim to order something I have no open and paid invoices for and I have no email with your information regarding that order. So even if I wanted to ship you a free unicorn with your Showman DVD that isnt paid for I couldn't.

Damn, that makes me smile. (Running a business allows some perspective.)

Invoice number 0000003279
invoice date 08/19/2011

We have communicated through email multiple times and on the phone once. And I did pay and never received the dvd.

That order shipped on the 22nd of August and the invoice was closed. I remember now that I owed you a Showman DVD and after we talked the last time I sent it out first class mail. Never heard from you so I thought it was good. I'll send you a dvd signature confirmation via Priority Mail and refund your money today.
