Cardone got jerked around

I just heard from an unimpeachable source that Billy I. got brutally jerked around while trying to gamble in Mobile. He made a proposition game with Ricky Byrd for two 5k bets. He told Ricky he would take 11 to 7 from Cliff Joyner for 10k if Ricky would also take the same game from Billy (11 to 7) for another 10k. Ricky agreed only if Billy would play Cliff first and also reduce the bet to 5k a way. Billy played and beat Cliff (the most difficult part of the proposition), but when it came time for Ricky to own up and play his half (the easier half) with Billy, he didn't play and stalled Billy around for a couple days until Billy had to leave. Ricky mysteriously developed some sort of eye problem.
The second jerk-around came when Billy played Tony Chohan, with Ronny Wiseman having a piece of Chohan's bet. The game was, Cardone getting One hit and the pick (I aint gonna explain that). The trio had gambled with the same game at the last Derby City and Cardone dogged his brains out and got pounded. A situation had come up in their first session after Cardone had made a ball on the break and then attempted to pick one more ball off before he continued his inning. They argued that Cardone should have to wait until after his inning before he removed his ball. Since it wasnt stipulated beforehand, and probably because Cardone was getting robbed at the time, Tony and Ron relented and allowed Billy to pick the ball before he shot. The same situation repeated itself in Mobile, with Billy making a ball on the break and wanting to remove another ball before he began shooting. Wiseman advised Tony not to allow that. This time Cardone was shooting much better than the set in Derby City, and the fellas weren't in such a magnaminous mood. Billy argued that the precedent for the procedure had already been set in Derby City, and unless it was negotiated beforehand, whatever went before still applied. Ron and Tony wouldnt give in, but Cardone had Tony in such a bad spot ball-wise anyway, that he relented and went for their claim (he was probably going to quit as soon as he won the game, anyway). As luck would have it, Chohan lucked a ball into his pocket and ran out. Of course Billy quit.

As time goes on, these reports and observations are going to occur more exclusively on my website and brand-new blog. I am working on it as we speak. The blog is accessed off my website.

Not that I played for 5k a set when I played, but I've been around pool for 60 yaers. I don't remember so many sleeze bags around back in the day. They just wouldn't last long. Johnnyt

Well thats unfortunate but I wouldn't expect anything different. He should have tanked early for the bigger payday later.

I know Billy & Tony is a separate issue, but I've always understood one-hit-and-the-pick to mean wait until after your inning before removing the ball. Do most people play it this same way as I mentioned?

I've only seen it where you pick up the ball before you shoot. But I haven't played much 1-hole or watched many games. I was way too hyper for that. If I was forced to play Johnny Archer 1-hole I'd shoot myself. Johnnyt

hi,
Ricky byrd is not a sleeze. He owns a nice pool room in Mobile,AL and he does contribute for the promotion of pool.neither ronnie nor chohan are sleeze but they like to act like tough dudes. Billy is not a saint. It appears to me that it is all a misunderstanding because of lack of communication before hand.

Should've made Ricky B POST both sets. Then Billy could take the money back to Dallas and tell Ricky to come and play for it when his eyes (or heart) gets better.

Yeah Yeah I know Ricky Byrd's got the heart of God and he bets billions - but in this situation it sounds like he quacked like a duck and ducked. - Sounds Like - I wasn't there I didn't sweat it.

I knew this matchup had the potential for a problem and predicted it to Lil Sal who said there would be no problem. Lil Sal, you owe me lunch my man.

Vagabond, I personally don't think either Tony.Ronnie,or Ricky are sleezes, but I question their honor as a gambler. Especially Ricky Byrd. He invited me to come to his tournament under the pretense that he would guarantee me action with several players,( which he didn't produce )then he matched a package game with me playing him 11/7 one pocket, if I played Joiner 11/7. He obviously thought that Joiner had tons the best of his game, so he would free roll with me on our game. Oops I just happened to beat Joiner, and Byrd had excuses why he couldn't play our game. I waited 2 days to play our game and then left. Now to me that's not a misunderstanding,is it?

dvd's

when are the dvd's being released,I read the banking with the beard book and want the dvd.

Incidentally, the game I played Chohan was 1 hit and the pick in Louisville. In Louisville I picked the ball after the break, and if I happened to pocket a ball on the break I would then pick the ball and finish my inning. This particular game is played differently, depending where you play,as are most proposition games. But the precedent was set in Louisville when they allowed me to pick the ball AFTER I broke. So when we matched up the game in Mobile , the very first game I pocketed a ball on the break and they refused to allow me to pick the ball before I shot. Ronnie said that he doesn't play like that, and that's not the way we played in Louisville. ( WHICH HE LIED ) and Tony agreed with him.Which angered me because when it happened in Louisville we had a fairly long debate on the issue ,before they relented. That also doesn't sound like a misunderstanding. Respectfully, aint no saint Bill Incardona

Billy, I'm glad you're putting some action in... Every week I seem to hear about you in some decent sized game. Thank you.

Things like these are inevitable, and the people doing them aren't necessarily sleeze bags. I know Tony Chohan personally, and he definitely is not a sleeze, good guy, great player...

If he isn't a sleeze, good guy, or great player then what is he? :D

Say what you want about that Ricky guy not being a sleeze but that was a real sleezy move.

Basically Billy had a chance to win only 5,000 while they had a chance to win 10,000 or MORE!. How f'ed up is that?

All due respect bishop, but if he had done that, he'd likely be $5000 down now, or at best even.

Cheers,

Tops in my Book

I have seen Billy at several tournaments and he is one of the few that was open and honest. Willing to engage any pool enthusiast in conversation. He has always been a gentleman. Unlike many top players who think their @$#& dont stink. Billy I only hope that you totally get what you deserve. Im always betting on and cheering for you. You got a lot of heart.

Welcome to the world of gambling nits.....of course this isn't the 1st time i've heard this before....
