Corvette,your missing with ball in hand. Walking sticks are an investment that are beneficial to both the recepient,and the donor. It's part of doing business.[/QUOTE]

If by doing business you mean giving a hand out then yeah, it is. Why not give them a coupon for Wal-Mart or buy them some groceries instead of giving them back money that they were staked on to begin with?

You could be right.I'm going to Wal-Mart today and buy some gift cards, so if I happen to play and win i'll have them handy.Also it's a lot easier to carry gift cards arond then groceries.

I can appreciate your sentiments and the posts that pertain to actual billiards are wonderful but what exactly is good or better about

guys barking and jockeying for spots for days on end only to end up either not matching up, complaining about the conditions, screwing people, hurling absurd insults and generally not accomplishing anything positive.

Personally I find the new wave of gamblers to be disgraceful to the true roots of wagering billiards.

I guess the new order of matching up in the game is upon us. I'm not saying don't be cautious with yours or someone else's monies but is it really necessary to load up prior to a bike ride with a helmet, kneepads, shin guards, protective goggles, steel toe boots, 3 layers of socks, ear muffs, wrist guards, GPS, first aide kit, snake venom kit, oxygen tank and so forth.

I'm asshamed at how people go about getting stuff done these days.
 
Here is why giving a walking stick makes good sense- There used to be a player around here that loved to gamble, and was good for a few hundred 2-3 times a week. At first he didn't care who he lost to, he just wanted to be in action. By being friendly, cordial, and giving him a walking stick every once in a while, he would always choose to play me a game that he couldn't win, rather than play any number of other players a game he had a better chance at. I don't think it should be required or expected, but it often makes very good business sense.

Thanks Jay, I often laugh at them too loud while I'm making them and the other people here want to know what's so funny with online poker since I do that about 8 hours a day. Oh, did you decide on whether you were going to make it to Biloxi for the WPT events? My wife isn't going now so a couple more of my friends are flying down with me. It should be a blast and a ton of action from what I'm hearing from Johnny Grooms who is the tourney director.

Well to be perfectly honest I've never been one to think that tanking is all that bad in the right circumstances. Its gambling not a tournament and not a hand shake matchup, I know others would disagree but it is what it is.

I'm just tired of people ranting on and on about this that and the other rather than bucking down and get the match going. On top of that when it doesn't go the right way we get 20 different stories about getting job'd this way and the other. Where has the ole fortitude gone?

The amount of provisions you guys have to actually match up are a joke. Either you are good enough that the only thing holding you back from winning are yourself and luck or you're not. If you aren't good enough then maybe you shouldn't be playing for 10k, 20k or more. If you look yourself in the mirror and think you should have asked for more weight then you had no business in the first place.

Didn't seem to me that you got jerked around. You showed good speed and sent the next guy in line packing....or so it seemed. Thats life, maybe it was too much this and too much that and next thing you know it cost you a matchup. I don't know for sure I wasn't there but hey we're all here to add our .02 and so will I.

I wasn't entirely attempting to insult you, I wasn't 100% directing my comments to you, it was more or less a general observation as to the processes I see going on while a few here squawk back and forth as to the particulars of matching up and the b1tching and moaning that has insued. I like you as a player, poster, billiard contributor.

Billy you gave me the greatest pleasure when I saw you play Grady at the Derby 2 years ago and gave him his just desserts. I hope you gave him a walking stick after that. I know that Owen was *****ing to me after Grady tanked that he was going to be hit up by Grady if you won. Grady did just that. Billy you played well but your banter was even better.
