Chalk gate at the open !!!!

I would have said that chalking over the table makes tables even dirtier than overchalking does.

Unfortunately there is no reason that both can't be done! Overchalking over the table is quite possible. One reason I refuse to build chalking into my preshot routine, I have seen people chalk three or four times when trying to decide what shot to take!

Snooker players often chalk between every shot but they only swipe the chalk across the tip once, not chalking the entire tip. I guess the entire tip gets chalked in the course of a frame or maybe they always hit the spot they chalk. Never watched close enough to see.

Hmmm, I just had a thought. There are cordless fish hook sharpeners that run off of batteries. A slight modification to hold chalk instead of a stone and I could market a cordless power chalker. That and a twenty dollar chalk cube and I could be rich by the end of a season!

I love Darren but I think he was out of line here. Whether he was right or wrong, his handling of this matter was very unprofessional. If he feels that Masters chalk, the standard in pro pool for decades, is causing skids, then he can rally his fellow professionals to jointly recommend its disallowance in WNT play. If the players were united in wanting Masters chalk to be eliminated from use in WNT events (and I truly wonder whether they would back him on this), Matchroom would likely accommodate, but just whining and complaining and publicly badmouthing a product that has figured so prominently in the history of pro pool is off base.

I think someone should produce a “Get Off My Lawn Open” for the AZ curmudgeons:

No jump cues
Old Gold Crown Tables
Only Master chalk
No Carbon Fibre
Green cloth
Centennial Balls with the traditional colours - Purple 4b
Hand rack for your opponent
One on the spot

What else am I missing?
Play off the wall.

So I have a unique problem. Most players switch their cue to the opposite hand and chalk with their playing hand. I play left handed. I eat left handed and I write and draw left handed. Almost everything else I do right handed. I throw a ball, bowl, bat, do just about everything right handed. So I chalk right handed. I always wondered why other people's hands don't get as chalked up messy as mine until I was watching someone who played right handed set their cue in the opposite hand and chalk with their right hand. I thought that was so weird.

Then I realized I was the odd duck, but it makes for a messy hand and table, it's unavoidable. It's also why I never needed a glove, I was constantly chalking my fingers.
I chalk with my bridge hand too. I throw and shoot pool right handed but do most other things left handed.

You're ambidextrous. Very cool.
I think ambidextrous means you do everything equally well with both hands, he does some things righty, and some lefty, I am the same way. I write, bat, golf left handed but I throw and shoot pool right handed. I don't think that is ambidextrous, its just effed up. The only thing I have found easier is talking on the phone while writing, I hold the phone in my right hand while writing left handed, most people hold the phone with the same hand they write with. :)

Well think a little harder. When you chalk and any excess gets onto your hands, if you're holding the cue with that hand, it will remain stationary. If that's your bridge hand, the shaft will be sliding against your hand and the hand will be rubbing against the table. So there's a greater likelihood of the chalk getting on the cloth and on your cue...

If I ever stop wearing a glove again, I'll take a picture of my hand after a session to show you the difference.
I bet when you don't wear a glove the area between your ring finger and middle finger get the dirtiest with chalk. Even when my bridge hand looks clean I look between those 2 fingers and they are covered in chalk.

yepperly, it gets nasty after a 6+ hour session. I once made the joke in a thread about "you know you're a pool player if", with "If you look like you've been finger banging smurfette".
