I really like a glove...
I keep my shaft clean
and my hands clean but ,
I love my glove

Nice jeep....

To the topic, I just try to keep my hands clean and dry.....chalk is nasty IMHO, and I just cannot bring myself to wear a glove....

JoeyA:

Great point. I am a FingerSlides user myself, and I love 'em. I don't use 'em all the time, because I don't want my game to DEPEND on them, but they're great when the pressure's on / humidity's in the air and my hands perspire.

I'm also a powder user, but not the powder that everone's mentioned here (e.g. talc or baby powder). I'm genuinely surprised noone's mentioned Corn Starch??

Corn Starch is great, because 1.) it's not made from an inherently abrasive material like talc is; 2.) it has no perfume [I personally dislike scented baby powder -- makes me think that I just changed a diaper or something]; 3.) it's very, very slippery -- much more so than talc or baby powder; 4.) one needs to use much less of it, and it stays on the hands much longer than talc or baby powder; 5.) it's not nearly as messy as talc or baby powder -- it doesn't go airborne as easily, nor form "dust clouds" or settle and make a mess like talc / baby powder.

Anyone else use corn starch?

Now theres a smart man, my father worked alot of ship yards after leaving pro baseball & he use to laugh at guys sweating their balls off & using baby power, once he showed them how corn starch worked & didnt ball up & make their gonads worse they thought he was a god

I don't get how some of you can put a glove down like you do.

Because it takes away the feel of the stick? I'd say for the most part if that's the case, then you probably aren't shooting with a real sh*tty stick.

As for hands sweating, I've never had the problem personally. I use a glove and it works so well that I only use it in money games or tournaments.

I always love seein' the guys that go up to those chalk cones and take their shaft to it like it's a grinding wheel.

No glove, no talc for me just clean shaft and hands.

here is my favorite glove to use, very smooth action and it makes my opponents sweat

Looks like you're ambidextrous my friend. Comes in handy for those rail shots you usually have to use a bridge for. LOL

I've only know one other player that uses a glove on both hands.

They would make a killer Halloween Costume Accessory!!

Earl's practically naked in that picture. He's not wearing his skate boarding armor, orthopedic braces or goalie mask. :grin-square:

I use a glove. IT keeps my shafts and hands clean. The stroke is always smooth and they wash easily with soap and water.

Earlobe weights to keep his head "centered"

Yeah, you're right! And he's not wearing his earlobe weights either...

I never used the powder and for the most part never really had a problem with the shaft sticking to my skin. But when I started playing more often, it was getting annoying having to go wash my hands so frequently and then shaft-slicker, etc. The glove took some getting used to - but the stroke is smooth and I can get set up and on the table faster now. I still wash my hands to keep oils out of the glove, but I don't have to do it every hour anymore.

Normally I don't use anything and I mean about 95% of the time. However there has been more than on occasion that I needed some help and I have always used the finger slidez. there is just too much moisture in the air and the finger slides are thick enough to aborb just about anything. I honestly don't feel them once I put them on.

The big difference for me too

That was the big difference between the finger slides and the glove for me too. The finger slides don't feel like something new and strange added like the glove did. In all fairness a friend that used a glove for years did decide to go back to a glove after giving the slides a try. I think it was mostly a fit issue with the slides though and as I have said, the maker will customize them to fit anyone. I had loaned him the slides to try and I think my hands are considerably thicker than his. My hands are more like paws, wide and short.

Hello, my name is "T" and I'm a talcaholic.

I was addicted to talc ever since I started playing. Some have told me it was the players I was hanging around with, others have said it runs in my family. (My mom was apparently a talcaholic when she was raising me as a baby.) Thankfully though, someone here recommended keeping the cue clean and washing your hands with soap and the hottest possible water available.

Thanks whoever you were!

I can now say with all honesty that I've been talc free for 2 years, 8 months, and five days.

To all you talcaholics out there, there is hope and support here for you.

Say yes to a talc free life. :D

This Poll ends on Dec. 16th...

...Bump up for any who want to add there vote.

can't knock what works

I can't knock what works but I used soap and the coldest water possible to discourage sweating and tighten up the pores and skin. Still do, I just find it isn't enough to get the job done alone these days.

I generally don't use anything. Occasionally a little biillard talc that I keep in my Cueshark tool, it dispenses a very small amount at a time, so no mess. I just ordered the Finger Slides from Nancy and am anxiously waiting to use them. Not for the reasons that most players do though. My hands are generally very dry in the Fall, Winter and Spring months, so hand moisture is not a concern to me. My concern lies more with the table dirt and oil deposits and small dings in the shaft that can develop over time or if somehow a sharp object comes in contact with my shaft. Maybe I am too sensitive to it, but this is extremely annoying to me when I am shooting, and I have to rotate the stick so I don't feel it when it slides between my fingers. I'm surprised no one else has mentioned this. I am hoping the finger slides eliminate this issue for me. I will be sure to write my own review after using it for a while.
