At Derby City 06, Chris smoked Tony playing an ahead set of 9 ball, and I mean smoked him quickly. I know cuz I put up part of the money for Tony. I'm sure Tony went for 10 ball because it changes the advantages. Tony has been playing harder and more often now for good stakes. His game probably has improved, although its hard to tell becuz he plays so damn good at times. Its a much closer game than the result may indicate.

It's hard to tell a lot of things with this game. That's why I wouldn't bet on either player. I was at DCC also, and saw this "game" go down. Use caution when gambling. The money you risk could be your own. :)

Just having a little fun with you guys. Chris played great and deserved to win. :) :)

If you are making any insinuation that there may have been business involved with me ever...Than you need to apologize quickly...

I have never been involved in business before and never will be. Many top players have offered to dump to me before and I have never done it and never will. The money isn't worth it to me.

My character and actions are not in question by anyone in the pool world. I am a great guy to gamble with and never have no problems with anyone.I bet high and don't cry when I lose.

I have heard of somethings with Tony before but that is not my business and I don't want to know about it. But because I played him doesn't mean anything was going on. I played him because I got to bet high and think I can beat him. No other reasons.

Thanks for posting Chris. One word of caution to you. We are judged by our associations. You have a good reputation in the pool world. Some others you know do not.

If you involve yourself with shady characters than it will rub off on you by association. I'm not pointing fingers at anybody on here, just offering you some advice. You can chose to ignore it if you like. That is completely up to you.

By the way, I was betting on you at DCC. Thanks!

Actually, it's one of the newest tells that the guy HAS the flush lately. If you've watched any of the action lately, guys that hit big hands on the flop are checking their cards, and either coming out with a minimum bet or a check. Same exact thing happened with Phil Gordon and some dink at a WPT event. The other dude flopped the flush. He stalls (Gordon has pocket Ks, no suit connected to the board), checks his cards, and bets out just over the minimum bet. Gordon says "that wreaks of flush - guess my Ks are no good", and folds them face up. Guy plays with the cards, thinking about turning them over, and Phil says "don't bother, I know you have it".

Poker players are becoming too cute with their traps lately. Just begging for suckouts, if you ask me.

Guys, I did not start this thread for any more then giving an update on the match last night, I have watched Chris play in Detroit and have never see a more professional person, win or lose, he is all class. That is the reason I bet on him, I was not mad when I loss, it was not his night to win. Thats the end of the story as far as I am concerned, Sorry to you Chris that this thread got going in this direction. You do not know me, however, next time I see you I will apologize in person. Good luck on your next match.

It worked because you were representing that you were on a draw or flopped bottom pair. You wanted him to think you had a mediocre hand when you had a made hand at this point. Usually you will get a call or raise at this point because most players feel you are overbetting your hand.

we never had a problem and seems to me like one of the good guys to play against and likes to match up fair and let the best man win!!

I too saw Chris play at DCC. It seemed that he was a stand up guy. Lose or win he just dealt with it like a pro. No rah rah or cryin.
Sad what people are trying to infer? They should not use the boards for that.
 
I've watched Chris play/gamble many times in several cities over the years and I have the utmost respect for him for not only his skill, but also for his attitude and demeanor at the table. To my knowledge, he is the perfect example of who I would want to gamble with (except for his playing abilities). :p He seems to be an absolute gentleman, never sharks, treats his competitors with respect, and always pays.

Jay, I understand what you mean about 'associating' with certain disreputable people, and the consequences it could have on yourself. The pool world is definitely a strange place. But I think 'associating' is different from someone you are actually gambling against. Some people have approached close friends of mine who have gambled for thousands, and ask them to dump, but 'business' can only happen if both sides are dishonest. JMHO. Thanks.

Alice, you are absolutely right. CHRIS BARTRAM is a stand up guy and a damn good pool player. He makes his game and gets down and plays hard. He handles winning and losing equally well. I'm sorry if someone misinterpreted anything I said in this thread.

I cannot say the same about other players mentioned on here. One in particular I have had bad dealings with in the past. Recently he came on here and bad mouthed me using someone else's screen name. That is the kind of guy he is, and he knows who I'm talking about. He is a great player but a questionable character. Whether he will clean up his act or not I don't know. All I hear about is more misdeeds. His moral compass is missing in action!

Just got back from the Bike. Only 519 players showed up. I got knocked out at Midnite, but I beat 514 of them.

I finished 5th for $7,765! PAY DAY!!! DING DING DING!!!

Good finish Jay, it seems like you like to finish 5th in the big ones. Now you have time to get some sleep and show up at Hard Times for the one pocket tournament at 1 pm.

there was no reason for anybody to misinterpret.I did not misinterpret and I know (guess) whom you were refering to.You do not have to be apolozetic.:cool:
