Something to consider when pondering the price of a piece of machinery, in this case a lathe.
I purchased a used lathe 20-25 yrs ago. I use this lathe everyday, it's my workhorse.
To date, this lathe has made me well over 1/4 million dollars.
Would it matter if I paid $2,000 or $5,000 for that used lathe?
The lathe being offered is a 'cream-puff', it's probably just broke-in. Should last a CM several lifetimes.
It may seem at first glance to be priced a bit high, particularly when compared to others of the same model.
The price of a used lathe is almost irrelevant, it's the condition that matters.
If it's worn-out to begin with, it's not going to get better by itself. It's going to cost you after the sale.
In reality, the aforementioned Clausing is a steal.
With that lathe you could make 1/4 mill and when you sold it, you'd get back every penny you paid for it.
I know I would. I'm not going to tell you to not negotiate but with this lathe, it's not necessary.
