I Also Collect Old Stereo Equiptment. That Was Actually My First Passion. I Even Have One Of The First Car Cd Players Made By Sony. I Have A Shed That's 20x15 Crammed Full Of Old Equiptment.

Marcus - Have any of the old Zapco 3pc amps? :)

Gosh, let me see. I used to collect, of all things, kites. I used to be well known in the kiting community here on the West Coast, and would attend the huge International Kite Festival held here in WA every year. I also used to manage a kite shop for 3 years, so that didn't hurt....since I was already working a full-time job in a med clinic, I took my pay for the kite gig in....you guessed it...KITES! I had, at one time, probably over 50K worth of kites. I preferred the single line variety, but also owned many of the 'sport' kites. For the 4th of July, instead of fireworks at night, I would set up a whole patriotic display, filling the sky with color during the day. My ex wound up stealing most all of them, or I would still have them today.

I also used to collect teddy bears. Not your dime store variety, but those really pricey mohair 'artists' bears. I also used to make them, and was a member of an early online emailing list. We used to do 'swaps' 4 times a year, and so I received and well as sent, many bears to all parts of the world. I have since sold off much of the collection, and the rest is in storage.

I too did the handgun thing. I was a Walther nut, and had several of the special German imported P5's and P5C's, one of which was my daily carry. This was long before Smith&Wesson came on the scene. Once I got married to a man with a small child, I decided to part with them.

I am not as financially solvent as I once was, so sadly, I cannot afford to collect cues...but I would if I could. I do, however, have a small collection of, of all things, incense burners. I am trying to focus on Asian dragons, but have many burner bottles, which I also make. I currently have a pair of 1964 Jim Beam 'I Dream of Jeannie' bottles, that I got at a killer price on ebay, that I plan on drilling out and painting. This all goes hand in hand with my incense business I am starting up, and will begin hand-dipping here in the next 2 weeks. So any of ya'll that like a good, premium incense, give me a yell @ luckydragonincense@yahoo.com.

My husband and myself also have quite an extensive unicorn collection....some very nice pieces. But I think we're getting ready to pack away until we have a bigger home to collect in.

I'm actually partial all of the older (80's/EARLY 90's) AutoTek stuff... Not the newer comercialized crap.

When I was a kid several in the neighborhood had a '57
Mantle ( what happened to it?). Everybody was searching
for Tony Kubek.

funny you should mention.

kubek was my other.

i never was into the richardson, berra, or ford card.

i wonder if the sound of the name had anything to do with it. that's why i liked "pafko" and "spahn"

Like I said, he was damn near impossible to find & me
& the kids in my neighborhood were hard core collectors.
Oh, to still have that '57 Mantle.

So now you collect kids???

Jimbo,

The Mick is my all time fav. I think you and I have a few things in common....hear you're a Yanks fan.

My pack-ratting and collecting started with sports cards, mainly baseball. At one point in time my dad and I had complete sets back to '53...and yes, even had a '51 bowman Mantle.
Sean

The 51 is the one I have, the 52 Topps is worth more but IMO isn't and could never be a true RC since it was a year after the Bowman. I am in fact a Large Yankee fan, been a season ticket holder going on 9 years now. Not real happy about the upcoming year. I've got about 200 Jeter RC's and another 100 Soriano's I need to move LOL.

this is totally off topic, so excuse me jimbo while i temporarily hijack this thread. it probably won't last any.

.

I never mind that, I think the best threads are those that can evolve and change, makes things fun. Not to mention just cause I posted it doesn't mean I own it.

Micky Mantle R/C

as far as the gun question goes I'm a hand gun guy, mostly H&K, P7M8 being my carry piece Also have all the USP's.

Jim<----sick

Okay, I admit to being a sick collector/pack rat.

I mostly collected old books, tobacco and caramel baseball cards, pre-wwii baseball uniforms and equipment, and pre-wwi sports photographs and memorabilia. Favorite items I have had included baseball equipment used in 1911 games with the Kansas City Giants and Chicago Lelands Giants, a poster of the 1909 Pittsburg Pirates that hung in Honus Wagner's office when he was a coach, a cabinet photo of Willie Keeler when he played with the Binghamton Bingos, original Burke photos of Ruth, Dimaggio, Dickey from the 1930's. Still have a decent pre-wwi track and field card collection and some uniforms.

Currently, I don't collect anything, but somehow the number of pool cues I own is getting larger

reluctant collector

I have a collection of stock certificates of bankrupt companies. Unfortunatley I owned them when they had value. Anybody want an Enron stock certificate or Continental Airlines? I cant sell any of my cues either. :o

Trading cards

i collect old non sports trading cards. ya know old shows like The Munsters, The Addams Family, Odd Rods, Beatles things like that. it's been hard trying to find a new home for them since i don't want to split'em up but still collecting them was fun.

About the only i thing I have ever collected, besides grief from my wife...lol, is snakes. I am big time ADD, I suppose, but I will go thru many different phases. Snakes, R/C cars, CB radios and so on and so on.

I second that. The arrival of my daughter 2 years ago changed me completely. Made me a better person definitely. Here is a pic of my pride and joy!!

Darling, Kai. I mentioned kids off topic because people get so caught up in material things, it's easy to overlook the things that really matter.

Collectables

i collect antiques from and about the 1800's gold and silver mines of the Black Hills of South Dakota.anything to do with that era if i can afford it.ore carts, miners hats, lights, tools, maps, pictures ect.:)

I used to collect coins. Then it was guns. Now it is cues. I will even trade a cue for a gun once in a while. I keep hoping to find a Bushka that is affordable to complete my Hall of Fame collection. Well that will complete it until next year when we induct two more members anyways. I have more than one Palmer, Martin, Paradise and Spain if someone wants to trade a Bushka for some of them.
