I have to say one thing about this site. If you mess up, you will get busted here. And that's a good thing. It serves to keep people in line and minding their P's and Q's. As well they should.

Every barrel has it's share of rotten apples, and that is true for any industry, not just Billiards. Whatever works to weed them out is beneficial to all concerned. And that is what I see happening here on an almost daily basis, whether it be in the Main Forum, Wanted/For Sale, Tournament Section or anywhere else.

I doubt this was the intention of Mike H. when he started this site years ago, but it has become a Court Of Last Resort on more than one occasion. And it serves it's purpose well. There is no enforcement power here, but there is the ability to expose and curtail the perpetrators, whoever they may be.
 
You are so right about the rotten apples Jay that made me think back 20 years ago when an older master mason told me to be ware that not all good men were masons and not all masons were good men, I've been lucky to never met the last group though.

i looked at my comcast time as i read your post, and it read 10:48. even them are bust.

i spend some time in the wanted/for sale section watching and there aren't many scammers selling more than 1 item, of course mostly cues. they get hung by their balls and almost always get hung once more if they change identity. there's a lot of skilled people here, not only giving free advice in DCP posts (more people should put themselves to "shame" as DCP), cue value, tournament recomendations & info, even politics.

the only negative thing i can think of is people complaining & whining. share in a productive fashion, keep complaining to yourselfs..

edit: one more complaint; i gotto copy/paste every damn post after getting logged out every time posting. quick reply, post reply, don't matter. hear me wilson?

When the moderator came to the fore on this forum, it was met with much resistance, but I agree with you 100 percent, Jay. That is what separates this pool-related forum from the rest. That is not to say that we are always going to get along or share the same opinions, but all in all, AzBilliards is a nice read for a pool enthusiast like me! :p

I will never forget Mike H. at the Turning Stone Casino when I ran into him in recent times. I said, "Mike, man, the forum sure has grown," and the look on his face was priceless. We both chuckled.

I'm sure when this forum opened its doors, nobody had any idea what would develop. Today, this forum is the BEST pool-related forum on the Internet, bar none. We all keep coming back, as if it's a clubhouse which is frequented by our buddies. We don't want to miss a thing.

A day without AzBilliards, you may miss a whole slew of pool happenings around the world! Some folks read The New York Times, but me, I'm sitting here with my morning coffee, "Pleasant Morning Buzz" it is called, as I read the headlines.

I believe in this site. I believe it has integrity and I trust in it. I too congratulate Mike H. and the posters of this forum for what they have created. The integrity that this forum has is due in no small part to Jay and JAM and many others like them (they are just the first to come to mind). They are knowledgeable people who have tons of heart and are guided by their principles. Integrity.

right on Jay! Az is an Amazing community, comprised of the old timers, new comers, those in the billiards industry, cue makers, pro players and their close friends and relatives and of course pool enthusiasts from all over the world.

Mike has cultivated a forum which is not only just informative, but a powerful pool entity in its own right.

Congratulations to mike and the whole az family!

Yeah, I just heard Alex stepped in some do do again. My buddy over there said it was way overblown, just Alex being Alex and playing around. I guess he p----- someone off during a match. Now he's getting replaced on the National team. Too bad, Alex is an asset to any show he is on, or tourney he plays in.
 
Picked on the wrong guy

I first met Chris 3 or 4 years ago when buying a Q from him on eBay. There was a problem with E and the result was that I got the Q at a cheaper price. Chris took a loss and I got the Q at the price I had bid. Since then we have done several deals and helpful emails. I have hi respect for Chris.

Now to my point. As terrible as it sounds, I'm glad (although sorry) this happened to someone as well know as Chris instead of me. Chris got mucho support from AZers, and I support his position 100%. I do not have a camera or know how to post to UTube and I'm not as well known as Chris. I probably would have been screwed,:( ending up with a boom-a-rang. Dave DID pick on the wrong guy to ply his scam.

I totally agree with you Jay and I love this site because I love pool, like I'm sure is the case with almost everyone that posts on here.

My only negative comment regarding this site would be: Stop the name calling! Just because someone has a differing opinion on a subject doesn't mean they should be subjected to being called "retard", moron, idiot, etc. I really hate that. There are some that if someone disagrees with them it apparently put that person on a lower level or something. Words in print don't always come off the same way as the spoken word and we're all just doing our best to express ourselves here.
 
Over the years I've frequented pretty much all of the major pool forums out there and the only one that I've consistently posted on (daily) for the last five years has been AZ. It is simply the best there is out there, Mike H. has done a wonderful job creating the best pool forum on the net. Add onto this some of the people that make it such an enjoyable place to visit and you have a sure winner.

Yeah sure we might have are share of disagreements on here (just like any family right?) but at the end of the day we all keep coming back;)

Someone who has been here longer than me told me recently, check the "Remember Me" box when you log in. I had the same problem 'til I did this. And asking the moderators didn't help. They didn't know what the problem was, though they may know, now.
