Congratulations Ralf Souquet

R.s.

That's great news! It's a tough life to survive just playing pool. Let alone being in the top 10 in the world (argueably top 5) and a world traveler.. logging over a million miles on his passport. Say's a lot about his character to accomplish all this and manage a relationship. Congratulations to them and wish all the best the future has to offer.

Congrats to Ralf. I wish him the best. I dont think it will hurt his game. It might even help him to know he has someone in his conner. Way to go Ralf, Your friend, Doug

So, with 4 tournament wins already in 2008, will this affect his game in a positive way so he will win even more tournaments this year?

Congratulations Ralf! Wish you and Illy all the best!

Congratulations to Ralph and Illy. They look like they are very happy with each other.

Maybe now since he is married with additional responsibilities, the next time I see him, he won't snub me for a pool lesson like he did at the U.S. OPen 9 Ball Championship. :)

Congratulations to Ralf and Illy! Ralf is absolutely one of the classiest guys in pool and deserves all the best!

A second to all of you. Ralf is okay in my book. At this year's MC, you saw the abuse he took from Earl. He never got angry, never bitter, kept a level head about it, even gave Earl a few kudos. And the thing about it was, he was totally sincere while doing it.

Oh, and Joey, just because you are good at something, doesn't mean you can teach it. E.G. Earl is selling lessons for $80 an hour. Query: Does that include the rants or not ? Personally, there are only two guys I'd take lessons from. One ? Joe Tucker. For obvious reasons. Two ? Danny DiLiberto. Personally, I've never heard anyone tell stories or impart pool knowledge like him. No slight to others, just haven't met you yet........

Oh, one more thing Ralfe boy. Remember one maxim of marriage;

"IF MAMA AINT HAPPY, AINT NOBODY HAPPY!"
(from someone with 20 years of experience..)

All my best (assuming you read this crap..hahahah)

Tim, you got my crap all wrong. I was the one looking for a pool lesson.

Ralph was the one who didn't want to give me pool lessons at the time. He snubbed me when I asked HIM for a paying pool lesson at this past U.S. Open 9 Ball Championship.

I doubt that I could teach Ralph much of anything, except maybe what to look at last (the object ball or the cue ball). ;)

BTW, just what is it that I am good at?

I was speaking about Ralf. And last time I checked, you were pretty good at building cues. So my question is, if I get on your lathe and wind up with my hand in the chuck after a lesson, a) was it because I didn't listen, b) you didn't teach me right or c) I'm just a colossal dummy ?? (don't answer that!) I'm sure that Ralf would be quite insightful, but just making a silly point about folks that are good at something. Sometimes they don't really know how to relate that talent just because they never had to before.

OK, you're speaking about Ralf. :)

I'm not too good at building cues either.:)

I have a feeling Ralf can teach a little. http://www.souquet.de/ev/index_ev1.htm

Or have you taken a lesson from Ralf and know from experience that he can't teach.
JoeyA

Those are Euro Dollars btw, not question marks.

No experience. Just a general statement. And just trying to say that you might not have missed much. On the other hand, you might have! Current currency translation is $78/hr. For free, I'll give you a drill from Joe Tucker and if you do this drill every day for a month, there is simply no way you won't improve.

The funny thing about lessons is this. Someone with a devine stroke can tell you how THEY do it, but it really comes down to what YOU can do with your stroke, i.e. being the best you can be, not what a pro already is. Knowledge is power for sure and a pro can help with that, but improving is probably easiest by playing those better than you and observing, then trying the moves you see in practice. At $80 an hour, I often wonder what my result would be playing money matches with the top guys in the Joss tour.

However you go about it, I wish you every success.
