Apparently you know nothing about the sacrafices that military members go through. And I don't want to know about someone in your family that served. If you didn't then you don't know $***. I think the American flag means more to Americans than any other country. Thats probably why he said that crap. But I was just being honest. If he said that around me I would slap him. I wasn't threatening him, thats just what I would do.
I have lost 6 fellow Marines that I consider close friends in 2 tours in Iraq. I too almost died. I am lucky to me here. So I don't care if I just joined yesterday, if someone makes a stupid ass comment like that, then of course I am going to react.
For those that red-repped me, F off. Especially if your an American.
Soto,
Please take a step back, and realize that as a member of the Armed Forces of the United States of America, your actions and statements reflect upon the entire U.S. military. Thoughtless and reactionary statements like the one you made towards Roy, do NO ONE any benefit; in the end it just create hostility where there was none previously. As far as Roy's statement, yes it was edgy, and could be taken as, when looked at by itself and no background information, a slap in the face of patriotic Americans. But in this form of impersonal communication, you can never take things at face value immediately, because as a speaker you cannot truly convey emotion, intonation or inflection in what you say. Food for thought.
Before you jump up and accuse me of being an unpatriotic American...I've been serving in the U.S. Army for the past 11 years. I've lost my fair share of friends in these wars and just volunteered to do another 12 month stretch overseas in AFGH. I have bled for and would bleed again for this flag and country, but know when moderation and tolerance are the best policy. All things being equal, thank you for your service. If we ever meet, we'll have to share a round.
