Congratulations to BRANPUREZA

Hey... thanks guys. I got some pretty good rolls at the Jacoby tour stop and managed to win the early bird tournament ($150) and split the main event ($775) with Arnold Hamlet... one of the nicest guys I've ever met. He's a 65 year old retired police chief and gave me my only loss of the whole weekend... that guy shot great in the finals. I also got the pleasure of meeting a couple az-ers... pokenhope and david baranski aka doomcue.. they were both great guys and I look forward to playing in some more tournaments and possibly meeting some other fellow az-ers as well. Doug Ennis is a super nice guy and runs a great tournament. If anyone is close to the area they should do themselves a favor and come out and compete, it's usually a pretty tough field though.

Thanks again, Brandon.

Congrats Brandon!

Whenever I think of you, I'm always reminded of the photos you posted of the room where Wimpy played. Now, I'll think of this along with that!

Good job!

It was a VERY tough field - let's see, Mike Davis, Mike Fuller, Robert Ray, Larry Kressel, Sam Monday, Jeff Pruitt, David Brown, Larry Faulk (damn, I wish I could've played).... You deserve a ton of props for making it through that field to the final (but I bet you wish you could get a rematch with Arnold, even if you did split it:D ). There were a lot of good players for what used to be a relatively small local tournament (amazing what a jump in prize money will do). Knowing you only from the Internet, I was frankly a bit surprised (kinda hard to judge playing speed from forum posts, ya know!), but you obviously have serious skills on the table. It was great meeting you (hey, do I really look like an old guy in my avatar?), great watching you shoot, and I look forward to matching up with you in future events once my shoulder gets back to normal.

Doug has always run a top-notch event, even when he had less than 10 players in the field. Now, with the better players coming out of the woodwork thanks to the bigger prize funds, everyone is getting to see what a good job he's doing. I was surprised at the number and quality of players there in spite of the snow, but money is a great motivator;) . I hope the Jacoby tour turns into something much bigger. I also hope Billy plans to have more events at On The Snap - I love playing on those Diamonds.
